I visited La Paillotte twice while staying in Musanze. I'd heard the name many times and was curious to see what it was like. They have lovely fresh bread, rolls and pizzas (the oven is inside the restaurant itself). Cakes and biscuits are also there...(but too dry looking for me).
I had fish brochette one day, rather dry, but it had a large excellent salad with it. When I asked for tea I got a flask of hot water and some tea bags but it worked fine. One day I ordered mushrooms on toast. Wasn't quite what I expected (it was actually a cooked mushroom sandwich on lovely bread with a ton of chips on the side). My friend ordered sausages and along came some very spicy ones.
I sat happily here for two hours. The Wifi doesn’t work and I couldn’t find a website but it’s a good little business and very popular.More
The pastas (the vegetable tagliatelle, mm) were excellent, very fresh and tasty, and the coffee and chocolate cake was also nice. Don’t go for the pizza though!! Ours were very hard, rather bland due to minimal tomato sauce and hard and tasteless cheese. Outside seating...is best and staff are friendly enough. Note that produce from the bakery is not always fresh.More
We had a couple of very good evening meals in the restaurant, and also picked up very cheap, good snacks at the bakery counter at lunchtime. Service in the busy restaurant was quite slow, but worth the wait for good food.
La Paillote is probably the most popular restaurant in Musanze. Located in the center of town, it offers everything from pastas, salads, pizzas, to curries and stews. The wait can be long and it is often crowded. The wait is worth it for the large...portions and breadth of options.More
It's a lovely and cosy restaurant with very reasonable prices. The pizzas are just amazing and at $3-4 you probably won't beat that combination anywhere in East Africa... staff are also very, very good and this place is very popular every day. Highly recommended for...tea, coffee, food, snacks and just to relax for a bit and make use of the good quality wifi.More
