Arrived a couple of minutes after our booking time of 18:45pm and we were quickly shown to the table. Whereupon we were immediately told that they needed the table back in at 20:15pm! Great start to the whole experience. My wife chose the spicy crab...cake with chicory for starters and was disappointed that the cake was overcooked, consisted of brown meat only and was served with a single, small leaf of chicory and 3 small sprigs of random salad leaves. My starter of pigeon breast with lentils was of generous portion and tasted great. For our mains, my wife ordered roasted monkfish with coconut and spicy/saffron sauce and I had venison. The spicy sauce tasted mostly of turmeric and the monkfish whilst a good portion didn’t feel it was roasted but steamed. To make matters worse the spicy dish was served with dauphinoise potatoes and boiled green beans! My venison was cooked to perfection and was fine with the accompanying dauphinoise potatoes and green beans. Being aware of the time limit warning we didn’t bother with pudding. When the bill arrived it wasn’t itemised except sub totalled up for starters, main and drinks. In the haste to move us on the bill was overcharged for drinks by £5.50. Once this was sorted we left promptly disappointed with the experience. This place is very busy and buzzy. Clearly the model is to turn covers round very quickly and there is going to be some collateral damage on food quality and service. I guess we experienced that on this visit.More

This is a quaint intimate eatery wine th excellent efficient service and even at 1800 hrs it was full It is not fine dining nor rustic - somewhere in between The seafood choices surprisingly were limited for a coastal restaurant rated 1* on trip advisor...We resorted to a crab linguine in the expectation that shellfish that is crab particularly and Cromer is what Norfolk food is all about. It is a marker a standard bearer like Tiramsui in an Italian restaurant We were let down - the linguine overpowered the crab rather than other way round and even then what there was of crab the flavour did not permeate We were rescued by a delicious lemon tart and passionfruit ice cream made in houseMore

they fitted us in at short notice, which was great, food was interesting and good, service was a bit too quick (england vs denmark) was on a bit later! and they had run out desert wine (supplier having problems. but if your lucky enough to...get a booking, go, it’s well worth it, don’t be put off by the “cafe” appearanceMore

Had a wonderful lunch here. Scallops and salad with crispy bacon was wonderful and I could have eaten it again! We also had the mackerel pate and crab salad. All were beautifully presented and delicious. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

The Moorings is an absolute must if you are in/around Blakeney. Richard's food is absolutely sensational, local ingredients cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, just perfect.

We ate here last night midway through a fortnight in Blakeney. Although, perhaps understandably, the menu was quite small we found a good variety to choose from and both the starters and mains were delicious served on hot plates by unobtrusive but efficient waiters. Booking...essential at present but advised in more normal times.More

Excellent food and service. The food was superb. We had crab cakes and scallops for starters followed by sea bass- all cooked to perfection. Portion size good - dish came with potato dauphinois and fine beans. Friendly service - quick and efficient. Will definitely go...back.More

We read the reviews for all the restaurants in Blakeney and this was top. The food was ok but I always felt we were rushed to accommodate their second sitting and the whole place is very rustic for a moderately expensive restaurant. The asparagus we...both started with was very nice particularly the hollandaise sauce which was just made. We both had Sea Bass for main which was ok but not fantastic. Disappointed having read such good reviews.More
