The Best Coffee in Ireland

For the first time in 16 months I was able to go out for a coffee and actually sit in. Where better to have your first date with coffee after all these months, than esquires. When I arrived I was greeted by a fantastic young lady, eyes smiling at me from behind her mask as she asked for my QR code and ID, once I entered I was brought to my table by an equally friendly young man. I couldn't have felt in safer hands than here. I ordered a salad, which was divine, the flavours and tastes were just amazing and to top it off a cheese cake to die for! and I mean that. The coffee was incredible as it always is, I thoroughly enjoyed my first proper outing. Great food, amazing coffee and the most wonderful staff. I cant praise this place enough. So if you are in Mullingar or passing or just want somewhere with amazing food and coffee with an incredible atmosphere, you have to pay Esquires Mullingar a visit. Thanks Esquires, I will be back again.

Me and my friend visited today with our little girls.the place was well organised and staff very friendly. Our lunch was delicious,relaxed and girls were even treated to some sweet treats such lovely gesture. Absolutely will visit again.

Excellent service, we were greeted by a lovely friendly young man who showed us to our seat. While eating our lunch he took the time to wish everyone leaving a lovely day in such a friendly and genuine manner. Lovely cafe, huge variety.

Went in today for lunch. Waited shy of 20 min in que. Observation all staff wore masks but out of the 7 i observed 4 had masks hanging around their chins. No changing of gloves when handling raw and cooked food. I asked the staff member to put her mask up on her face properly . reply " quote. " it dosent fit keeps falling down. I asked for a change of gloves before she handled anything she gave me she asked why. I said you fixed your hair pulled your mask at least 5 times while i waited also handled raw and cooked meats you changed gloves before me and just dropped them on a chopping board to bring crisps which you took out of a bag with your hands with out washing. She washed her hands chaged her gloves and I ordered a toasted sandwich took a further 15 min to be brought to me at this point my tea was cold. So its an no no for me .No organisation service has taken a serious down turn.

Came here for our first “indoor dining” experience in months, we were a good 20 minutes standing in a que to order from the counter , after we finally ordered our lunch we sat and my Mothers food came out. She had finished by the time my food arrived and it was not what I ordered; Sent the food back in to be corrected and it arrived out about 10 minutes later - same plate of food with bits just taken out and it was still not what I ordered, for a finish we got a refund on my lunch and left. This place used to be a really nice place to go for food but it has hugely gone downhill, no organisation, bad management and over all bad experience. Will not be returning and would HIGHLY tell people to avoid this dive.

Hello There, Firstly our apologies for a delayed response. Though we wanted to get back to you right away however it took us ages to get access to the page so we could respond. My name is Stuti and I am the franchisee owner. With that said we have fully investigated the complaint and will not even try to make an excuse. This unfortunately was a situation where you as a test and customer gave us more than one opportunity to fix things right and our team failed to acknowledge than. Thats us being totally honest! I would not say the staff is new etc but would like to take this opportunity to offer an apology and would love it if you could please give us another opportunity to fix things. Come for the coffee but forget it for its service!

This is my second time here in about two weeks. The first time, morning and not too busy, we ordered a tea and coffee and it took over TEN minutes to come to the table. This morning, a little busier and a tea and coffee is FIFTEEN minutes. There won't be a third visit. You have a good number of staff but service is abysmal. When we complained to the person who (eventually) brought the tea and coffee, she brushed it off saying: "Nothing to do with me!" We then asked if we could speak with the Manager. Twenty minutes later, no Manager. That really sums up the attitude in the Mullingar operation towards paying customers. Perhaps the fact that it is the only café in the shopping centre with a captive audience that has no other choice is the reason for the 'couldn't care less' attitude? Whatever the reason, not sure whether it is the Company or the local staff but as Company ethos is usually set at the top, then I think I know where this buck stops. And a final point - is there a reason why not a single cake / pastry item has a price displayed? A little underhand business practice! It catches out people who only realise the cost AFTER purchase. Overall summary and advice: be prepared for dismissive service and watch out for their underhand pricing policy.

I've eaten twice here in a week having not been here since pre-covid. First visit, I had a BLT 🥓with brown Sourdough bread and iced latte for around €13. Second visit, I had an Americano and chicken Caesar salad 🥗for around €16.50. I was impressed how attentive staff were especially when taking our orders ie I asked to go easy on the Caesar dressing on the salad. I thought the Caesar salad was really good and the brown bread and coffees☕. I think there has been significant improvements here since pre-covid and would recommend and will return shortly. Keep up the good work and standard💪

Premade sandwiches

Used to always attend this fab venue up until recently, went in and they changed their rules on sandwiches and was told only premade sandwiches are on the menu no custom, so it is clear that all sandwiches are made and not fresh. Not very good for people who just want a plain sandwiches, unfortunately won't be back as a result. They were one of the only place in Mullingar that still offered customs sandwiches. Not sure why it changed.. apart from this it was always a clean and nice place to eat out. It's just unfortunate.

Hello There, Thank you for your feedback. We wish to point out all our sandwiches are freshly made and customised down to the type of bread you want! Infact, just today we made a sandwich for a customer who wanted rashers and sausages on toasted white bread which is not on our menu and yes you guessed it right we made it for the customer. Unusual request (yes we get loads of requests like these, including a request once for an ice-cream sandwich, which BTW we happily made, off course we did not toast it).. with that said there is a possibility our staff member (90% of our staff is new and weekend staff are usually students who are not around during the week) might not have gone the extra mile to customise your experience. Birthday party

We had our daughters birthday party here and all I can say is Wow!!! They had a whole section cornered off for our exclusive use, table decorated beautifully, High quality Chicken goujons and chips, juices and cupcakes for the kiddies. Tea and coffees for the parents. Lovely staff and definitely made the birthday girl feel super special. Even gave her a box of chocolates after. Highly recommend!

Visited yesterday for food with my mum. After queuing for about 20min we were told they weren’t serving food (nobody bothered to tell us when we joined the queue) Ordered two coffees and a slice of cake, waited for over 45 minutes for coffee. When my mother asked could we have our coffees to go (as we were more than fed up waiting) the lady she spoke to said there was a problem in the kitchen and they were serving food again(again nobody told us) said she would do our coffees for take away and refund us. 10 more minutes later our coffees arrived no refund. Was there quite regularly will not be returning

On the 27/12/2023 I went to Esquires Coffee Mullingar with my Mum to get some lunch. We ordered 2 toasted sandwiches, a hot chocolate and a cup of tea. We received the hot chocolate after 5 minutes, but had to wait another 15 minutes before we received 1 of the 2 toasted sandwiches we ordered. When the sandwich arrived it wasn’t very toasted and wasn’t warm. We continued to wait until we had been waiting over 35minutes and still the other sandwich and the cup of tea had not been given to us. Eventually we inquired about the missing tea and sandwich but we were told that we had not ordered any tea and that our sandwich would be ready in a few minutes. We did not have time to wait for the sandwich because we had already been there for over 40 minutes. We have visited esquires before with no problems but today was terrible and we are just deeply disappointed.

I couldn’t recommend this place more. The owner Stuti Is so warm and friendly and goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and enjoy the food. You can see this has a knock on effect with her amazing staff. Food was great and very reasonably priced. Tip. The breakfast plate (full fry) is packed and really well priced compared to other places I’ve been. Gives you a good idea about the rest of the menu I’ll be back for sure. Alan

Filthy Cafe and Rude Staff

If you like to sample the food left from the last customer, go here. Table was left dirty and no clean tables available. After queueing for an eternity, I encountered a rather emotionless employee. I ordered my food, had to sit at a table with food and dirty plates from the previous customer. I waited again for ages, had to ask a few times for things I needed, including the table to be cleaned off. Eventually received my lunch and the cutlery was also filthy! I again waited for new cutlery and by the time I got to eat, I was running late, stressed and not feeling like eating anymore. I don’t know if there was actually anything wrong with the food, but I felt ill within an hour. Avoid!

Birthday party

We had a birthday party here for my daughter last weekend. Stuti, the manager, contacted me in advance with the menu so all the children had picked their food for when we arrived. An area was reserved for us and had been decorated with balloons etc (we paid a small charge but it was definitely worth it). Great food and even though they were busy we received great service.

Food & staff top quality 💖

I regularly visit here as I love the food, the staff are so friendly & the atmosphere is just perfect. I would recommend Esquires in Mullingar without hesitation & once I visit the town, you can be assured I’ll stop in here for a lovely bite, a delicious coffee or maybe even a slice of lovely cake. The staff are so friendly & within a few visits you will know them all yourself too. Stuti & Manesh lead by example & you will always find them bringing out orders, supporting staff or chatting to customers in a most admirable way. A must visit spot once you find yourself in Mullingar.
