Strong starters & mains but weak desserts🍧

It has been years since both my husband and I have eaten on separate occasions so we were looking forward at what Oscars had to offer now. We had made a reservation Tuesday evening for 8pm Saturday night. Book well in advance for weekend nights at popular times. We were seated and noted new items on the menu since we were last here, notably the curries. We made our order. The couple beside us left and a member of staff started moving cutlery, water, napkins and glasses over to their table without consultation. It was a weird awkward moment as we were fine at the table we were given. In the end, I asked do we have a choice on whether to move or not and the staff member said we could stay where we were and assumed that we had wanted to move. It was baffling. Onto the food, for starters, we had the half rack of baby back ribs €8.50 & baked spinach and ricotta cheese tortelloni €8.25. The tortelloni was cheesily delicious and filling, I thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband was happy with the ribs. For mains, I had the laksa combo of chicken and tiger prawns with brown rice at €17.50 and my husband had the sizzler combo at €22.95. Both were substantial and lovely. The laksa curry brought me back to the lovely dishes we tried in South East Asia. Impressive. We shared 500ml carafe of Argentinian Malbec at €18. Very good. For desserts, we opted for the monkey nut sundae & Mississippi mud pie sundae both @€5.75 each. We finished with two Americanos at €2.95. Total bill came to just under €100 for the two of us for the 3 courses each, 2 coffees and 500ml of wine. A little on the steep side? We both felt that the options for dessert were poor and by far the weakest course here. Is there truly a need for 12 different types of Sundaes on the menu? Overall, we'd happily return but skip dessert the next time if the menu is still the same.

This restaurant is nothing but amazing! We had a takeaway from here last night and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We would be regulars to visiting Oscars restaurant and enjoying a family meal and while we can’t wait until the time comes that we can do this again, we are very glad that we can still get takeaway from here. The staff are always so friendly and helpful, service with a smile is guaranteed! The measures they have taken to ensure Covid-19 safety guidelines are followed are fantastic, you’re not left out in the cold queuing to get inside. If you don’t know what to get and it’s your first time ordering, I would say you have to try the garlic/sweet chilli/caramelised onion pizza - it is to die for! Is it bad that I want one again tonight?! But whatever you chose, you will not be disappointed I can safely say that! Thank you Oscars, for your beautiful food, friendly service/atmosphere and professionalism in these difficult times.

Great to have this restaurant back open. Always so popular and so busy and for good reason. We have had lots of takeaways from here during covid with good value mid week specials but nothing beats the vibe and quality when dining in. Had the salmon with the famous green mash. Beautifully cooked fish, such tasty mash and perfectly cooked veg. Everything so tasty. Also has teh ceasay salad with chicken, really good. Friends had pasta and steak both happy. 2nd visit woth family they had a chicken dish and pasta and again everyone happy. Closed over Easter again which is a pity. Can't find mew opening gours very easily unsure if I can go for Sunday lunch. Late dinners doesn't work for us with a child. This is my favourite restaurant in town. Only advice would love to see a daily special just to change it up a small bit. Ps starter portions are massive, prawns served with rice and crusty chicken pieces served with noodles ....all big enough to be mains so don't order too much!!

Amazing food & super service

Enjoyed a fabulous night out with family at this lovely restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by front of house and the service from all staff was exceptional. We shared some starters - the Arancini Balls were a clear winner ! Great choice of mains with a variety ordered - all got a 10/10 👌 Wine pairings were spot on - I didn’t have dessert but enjoyed a lovely coffee. Great atmosphere and a lovely relaxed evening. Would highly recommend and looking forward to next visit 💫

On our visit the food was exceptional We had steak, salmon & chicken which were all really well selected and prepared, presented beautifully. The accompanying veg was cooked and presented exceptionally. The staff and owner were friendly and polite. The value for money was beyond noteworthy. Well worth visiting (book in advance).

We stopped in Mullingar for dinner yesterday evening and decided to try Oscars Restaurant Mullingar. OMG I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It was absolutely amazing, the food, the prices, the cleanliness, the atmosphere and the staff were so friendly especially Mia, she is so helpful and knowledgeable about the food, she is a great asset to the business.

Superb Main Courses

We had a lovely experience here last weekend. It was our first time here and we came on the recommendation of a friend. It didn’t disappoint! Our main courses (steak and ribs) were superb! The green mash was delicious as mentioned here before and the side salads and veg were perfectly prepared. The portions were very generous and you certainly won’t leave hungry! The staff were very friendly also and we’ll definitely return next time we are in Mullingar!

Wonderful dining experience

We had fantastic family dinner at Oscars. We were a large group and the menu catered for everyone. Every meal was delicious - particularly the carbonara! The service was excellent and we felt very welcomed and spoiled. The atmosphere was relaxing and fun. I highly recommend trying Oscars for a lovely experience. We will definitely back!

Night started well my wife and I had started that were amazing. Then we ordered mains I had steak medium to well done it came out over well done. my wide had finish it wasn't cooked well. We both had chios that were only half cooked

Fantastic night out

My wife and myself celebrated our 37 wedding anniversary in Oscar’s . The food was fantastic as usual and the staff were attentive, professional, and friendly. The owner was warm and friendly as was the atmosphere. They made our night out special and memorable. Thank you Noel and all the staff

Best dinner spot in town

Oscars is a staple in Mullingar. Extensive me i to suit all, great wines, steak, fish, pizza, pasta, mouth watering mash and excellent service. Beautiful cosy interior and great desserts....now doing a great value early bird. Highly recommend.

Really great dinner experience at Oscar’s

The whole experience in Oscar’s restaurant was simply the best, from the introduction at reception to the quality of the food, the range of menu, the friendly service to delivery and price was so impressive that we can honestly say we loved the time in this establishment and will definitely be back!!
