Selfoss was our last stop on a 3 week tour of beautiful Iceland and I am so glad we stopped here! In the perfect location for those staying at the hotel or near downtown, this well-decorated and very clean, modern bar & restaurant was ideal for us traveling. I want to highlight the friendly staff, instantly highlighting the classic Plokkfiskur (Icelandic fish stew) and the Lamb Soup (aka the *real* Icelandic national dish...according to locals).
My wife, a vegan, felt particularly well accommodated here, so you do not have to think any harder about finding a bite when traveling through Selfoss!

Staying at the hotel SELFOSS, we preferred to book a typical restaurant 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
Very interesting menu with dishes for all tastes with typical Icelandic dishes and international dishes.
Fish dishes with lobster really excellent.
A very nice restaurant room and we were treated to a private space because we were numerous.
If you go to SELFOSS, I strongly recommend it.

I cannot say enough kind words! Arni catered two meals to our VRBO during our stay in Selfoss including a traditional American Thanksgiving. All the food was absolutly delicious!!!! He also did our grocery and wine shopping. The VRBO was fully stocked upon our arrival so we could spend all our time exploring. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting the area!

Overall: Excellent restaurant.
My mother and I were staying at the Buubble Hotel nearby and decided to have an enjoyable dinner in Selfoss. The hotel manager advised us to have a traditional Icelandic dinner at Froken Selfoss on October 22, 2024.
When we walked into the restaurant, we were impressed with the high quality of the decor and woodworking. Everything was spotless, too. Immediately, we knew that we made the correct decision to come to this restaurant.
The food was excellent and delicious. I had the sheep fillet jerky as an appetizer and the lamb as a main; my mother had the arctic char as a main. We shared the reindeer carpaccio also. For dessert, I had the Icelandic Skyr and my mother had the rhubard and apple pie. All of these dishes were ample and well-prepared.
The service was friendly, approachable, and professional. Everything was served without any delays. The owner is a true entrepreneur, I believe. I noticed and appreciated, for example, how he visited every table in the restaurant as a friendly gesture; he also worked alongside the staff to make sure everything was running smoothly for all of the many guests.
If I ever return to Selfoss, I will definitely eat again at this beautiful restaurant.

This cozy little restaurant was a great place to enjoy a drink and experience authentic Icelandic food. The staff are very friendly, helpful and were a joy to chat with. They answered all of our questions, made sure we comfortable in our food choices and legitimately cared that we enjoyed the experience. They have very diverse drink options with some colorful house selections. I am sad we ate here on last night because I would have come back for another meal.

We stopped here for dinner after a day of sightseeing, were greeted with a warm welcome and seated immediately. Our servers were pleasant and our drinks and meals arrived promptly. The food was delicious (seafood pasta and braised chicken thighs). Both meals were flavorful and filling.

After a day of exploring, walking, climbing we did not expect to find such a warm, friendly, and outstanding quality meal in a small Icelandic town. Most of our group went to the nearby food court. We had a well prepared meal with fresh shellfish you could taste, since it wasn't oversauced, and some really good wines.

Got to try the fermented shark meat with a schnaps chaser, reindeer carpaccio, cured goose with blueberries and baked Brie for apps. Mains were a slightly salty char, tender lamb hip and a nicely balanced veal steak.
It’s in a cutely rebuilt part of Selfoss, don’t let the exterior pictures fool you.
Good wine selection and the cocktail designs were fun. The rhubarabara was served in a tiny bathtub.

Just what we needed after a long day of exploring. Great atmosphere with an artsy and relaxing atmosphere. The service was great and we loved the baked brie and the chicken. We felt it was a great value and priced comparatively to other Iceland restaurants but with exceptionally good food!

I have never written a restaurant review before, but I think this one deserves it. It was one of the better meals we’ve ever had, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. My fiancé and I ordered the tiramisu martini, stroh koka, bread with butter, lamb hip, and crispy pork belly and they were all delicious.

This was a very nice place to have lunch and the staff were also very friendly.
I ordered the brunch and came like a tower of food. Fruits, waffles, eggs, skyr. To be honest it was a challenge to finish all by myself but I was willing to face.
My only issues were that the restaurant was empty and the process still was really slow. Also I ordered the vegetarian brunch but still got the non-veggie one (meaning I received sausages and bacon) but i didn’t make a fuss about it because i knew my companions will finish it. But it very well could be an issue for someone else.

As an Icelander I have to recommend this place for authentic Icelandic food!!! Everything from the traditional Icelandic meat soup to a taste of shark or fish jerky or home-made lamb jerky. My absolute favourite was blast from the past! A bowl of skyr with cream, Icelandic blueberries and sugar which my grandma used to give us for dessert . Incredibly good food, amazing atmosphere. It was so wonderful listening to Icelandic music but the music was never too loud or interrupted conversations.

First...the space is immaculately designed! A very cozy contemporary space that makes you feel like you are in a living room. Very inviting! Next, our server couldn't have been more friendly & accommodating. I ordered the fish of the day, a delicious Cod with miso glaze & roasted root vegetables in the most delicious sauce. Amazing experience. 10/10! Highly recommend!!!

Our group (2 couples are from New Orleans, Louisiana and we travel all over the world. We have enjoyed some of the finest restuarants around the world and we found this restuarant to be one the finest we have ever had dinner.
We enjoyed shared small plates including the sheep steak, Wagyu steak, hummas and ovlives to mention a few.
The wine selection is as expected and drinks world class.
I recommend anyone even close to Selfoss, Iceland make reservations and enjoy this world class restaurant.
