Just occasionally everything comes together and the overall experience is flawless as it was for us when we visited La Salamandra Pulperia on our last night in Bariloche. This is a lovely, small and friendly restaurant. You must book beforehand, because demand is so high....Run by a husband and wife team (alone) they have limited capacity but cope well with a full house. Having read many of the reviews we started with empanadas and the mushroom brioch. No ordinary mushrooms - Chantelle and Portobello in a lovely pesto. We shared a 600g ribeye which was perfectly cooked to sugoco accompanied by a lovely fresh salad and bottle of Andeluna 1300 2018 vintage (rated 3.9 at Vivvino) priced at 600 pesos (£8). Definitely one of the top 3 restaurants in Bariloche, if what we received in terms of dishes and service is what you look for. Note from another review - thankfully the lady with the mobile phone did not re-appear. If she had I may have intervened on behalf of the owner and other clients!More

First to arrive at this intimate restaurant run by a husband and wife team ordered the beef and mushroom bruschetta. Both were excellent. Husband/chef explains everything. Make sure to eat here while in Bariloche.

I’m so happy we came here to eat and experience the wonderful atmosphere. With just ten tables, and two people working, it’s a special, intimate restaurant serving great food. Empanadas, scallop salad and rib eye are all absolute musts. Truly a highlight of our trip...and I shall insist that all my friends visits Bariloche eat here.More

This place is so lovely. We ordered the empanadas and the mushroom bruschetta to start. Both were really good but the empanadas were stand out the best we've had so far on our trip. The star of the show was the ribeye steak for main...course. We shared this which was plenty and left us room for starters and a shared desert. The steak was seasoned to perfection and cooked just to our liking. Definitely the best steak of our trip. We finished with the chocolate nemises, a chocolate fudge type cake that was also amazing! Service was great and the place is really cosy inside.. You won't be disappointed!More

A little on the expensive side but so worth it! We have been coming here since 2013! The ojo de bife comes with a beautiful salad, their chimi is amazing! The empanadas are to die for, but a warning - they are very juicy! The...new salad with the scallops is amazing, the flavors are beautiful. I finally tried the salmon and was pleasantly surprised - the skin is very crispy and the mashed potatoes are like silk! Will order again soon for sure!More

We loved the quirky, small restaurant ambiance and kind attention of staff. However, we are appalled (and the experience completely ruined!) by a lady who carried her loud cellphone conversation from the parking lot into the restaurant and, once inside, continued to bark loudly, non...stop, totally disrupting the atmosphere and pleasure of the entire setting. Even after begging staff to ask this person to go outside for her call or tell her to stop her infernal loud yakking, the staff did nothing (evidently this person is known or somewhat of a regular). The situation became so intolerable that we actually told staff were forced to leave and stand outside until the lady finished her (totally social, blah, blah, blah) chit chat. So, we went outside. Another couple eating next to us abruptly finished their meal and left. After about 15 minutes, the staff came out and got us and lead us back in. The lady finally stopped talking only when the rest of her party arrived and normal restaurant ambience returned. All I can tell you is that the food is marvelous, but if you step inside and see anyone on a cell phone, just turn around and leave. The staff does not protect the environment of their restaurant.More

Certainly one of the best meals and experiences we had in Argentina. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and medium rare just as we ordered. Standout empanadas and a delicious bottle of house wine. Menu is short but confident. Service was warm, friendly and English was...spoken perfectly. The restaurant is small but incredibly comfortable. We visited at 8pm midweek without a reservation. This meant we only had the table for an hour, but still felt incredibly welcome. I really wish we'd made a reservation so we could have stayed and enjoyed the place a little longer. Thank you all at La Salamandra PulperiaMore

Very good, but not the best meat we had in Argentina, meat was tender but cooked not as requested. Wine ok, should have a longer list.

A very nice little and very causy family restaurant ~5km outside Bariloche. A place really worth of visit. Booking recommended. I would go back here again if i would have stayed in Bariloche a day longer. Why? Very warm and friendly service. Family speaks good...english. Although menu is in spanish that is no problem at all because you get such an excellent explanation of it. Menu is not too extensive, but folks that is not necessary because what ever you try is so delicious. We tried empanadas. Serioulsy these were the best empanadas we had over 4 weeks in Argentina and Chile. So tasty, juicy and were thinking of another round but the steak has arrived which was another delight. So juicy and rich in taste. We also had salad that was also well balanced and nicely prepared. Really fantastic food quality served by very nice people at a very reasonable prices. Great value for money and unforgettable pleasure of taste. We just noticed this restaurant does not have kids menu. Other than that is a must visit place.More
