Read the reviews and decided to give this local restaurant a try. Wonderful value for money. Friendly lady in charge beckoned us in for the usual bread and cheese. Soup then arrived before she brought the menu and recommended the dishes of the day, evening bringing some of the chicken for us to taste. Large plates of salad, chicken, fish and fresh chips followed plus local wine. This tasty and huge meal for 4 came to 53€. Best value ever. Local food at it's best. Highly recommended.

Great local food and friendly staff. try the amazingly delicious baked entrecote and the octopus. Huge portions _ with a salad one is enough for two or even three people as the bread and trimmings are pretty filling and they give you a large chunk of melon to finish. House wine is tasty and light Alentejo. Fun. e40 for two main dishes, bread, wine, 1 beer, 1 coffee, 2 puddings _ far too much for three people so we took some food home.

We ate a splendid and filling Alentejo lunch at this restaurant today on route from Almada to Aljezur. Nothing frilly or pretentious here in this small restaurant tucked away in the back streets of a (today) hot and sleepy Cercal. Simply good honest home cooked food designed to satisfy a healthy appetite. My dish of the day was tasty, tender vitela estufada (stewed beef) accompanied by arroz with coentros (coriander rice) Delicious! My wife had the house style octopus which was voted excellent. This came with lovely home made chips. Usual olives and bread, water for both, half litre of house white wine for me plus a pudim fan and coffee to end. 30 euros with a tip. Good service from friendly young lady and lady chef ( owner?) visiting each table to check clients satisfaction!

A visit to Cercal isn´t complete without a meal at Passarinho. The welcome was warm and the food was delicious and plentiful including the best bolo de bolacha I´ve tasted. Eating at Passarinho isn´t just a meal - it´s a whole experience and great value too. Don´t miss out!

As with other reviewers, this was recommended to us by our local tour company. Off the main square in a backstreet, the restaurant is simple and incredible value. The owner sat us down and had bread, olives and cheese in front us in no time. A jug of good red quickly followed, and a bow of delicious vegetable soup. This was all before we had seen a menu! I suspect that the menu contained more than was available- having decided on fish we were directed to the octopus with such enthusiasm that we were happy to order it, and had no regrets as it was freshly prepared in our sight. Other people coming in to the restaurant also ended up with octopus or I imagine the one meat dish, so I suspect there was limited choice. I had a pecan dessert which was delicious - I finished it so quickly the owner brought me an additional slice to go with the two amaretto liquors! All this for under €40. If you want an authentic meal, and are ok with what is fresh and available, this is a great choice. And the owner is a joy!

So I was trying to get Dinner here with a friend of mine (both of us female). We entered the restaurant and were literally ignored by the staff for roughly 20 minutes. Then a couple entered the place and was welcomed within very short time, while we were still being ignored. The couple was also offered a table straight away which obviously made us tell staff our opinion and leave the place. Can’t say anything about the food but what I have seen on the plates didn’t look that great…

Exceptional, in a village found by chance, a restaurant mostly frequented by locals , and excellent dishes typically local. A team of four energetic women. Of course there is waiting, of course we do not understand everything , nobody speaks English and even less French, but it does not matter. Value for Award at the top. Must-see

We have already been dining in this small family restaurant for 2 evenings in a row. Grandma cooks, grandpa tends the bar. The dish of the day is very generous, the house wine in a carafe is very good. Very good address, and watch your bill, because grandma forgets to count something every time. We eat very well for 10€/person if we share the main course which seems to be for two.

Incredible, after 7 years I went back there and it continues to be fantastic. Food, price, friendliness of the owners. For those who have doubts about how good this homely restaurant is, don't pay attention to the negative reviews and simply go at decent hours as there are no reservations and the space is small.

Don't be prejudiced. Wait sitting on the street and drink a beer. When they call you, you will see that there is AC in the living room and D. Lúcilia's friendliness and the excellence of her kitchen. Choose simple things. Look for the dishes of the day. It has a short wine list that is the envy of many restaurants. With suitable glasses! But the desserts made by D. Lucília are unique. I tried several. Almond pie. Pudding. To not lose. Same. Now closed on Wednesdays.

What a great authentic place to eat out. So nice that we went there twice in a row. We had a delicious meal there twice. The business is run by two lovely ladies who really do everything to make everyone happy.

Nor did it try, respect the other evaluations but when the poor education of the, I think, owner reigns and when we feel bad, it gives to those who hurt, we can not help talking. When arriving at the restaurant neither good afternoon nor good day, when asking by table friendly answer I don't know and I don't know when it will be, and I don't know if there is, I don't know. Antipathy, lack of empathy and disrespect for the client. Not all is worth it, I want to believe that it may have been a bad day, but there are other restaurants.

Go through the Cercal, stay at the Cercal or even go to the Cercal for a wonderful meal at the Passarinho restaurant. Food very well confectioned, family welcoming with the unique sympathy of D. Cila. I love and recommend.

Just experiment any of the local dishes of the day. Food with characteristic strong flavors. Clean place with local charm.

Found on the Foursquare App with a very good rating so we went there to check... WOW - simple place with great local spirit, just fantastic home made dishes, all great... the lady owner does not speak English but we could understand everything (despite the fact that we do not speak any Portuguese); the food was delicious, the cake as well... Fully recommendable - Do not miss this hidden place in the second street row... Parking is in the same street...
