Excellent!!!

We visited Port Ghalib and tried Hakuna Matata and it was the best desicion. After that we ate very tasty dinner the most important was talking with the owner. Her big knowledge about Egypt, culture and first of all simply life was better than a lot of profesional tourist guide. We recomended Hakuna Matata the most!!! Family from Olsztyn

One of the best places in Port Ghalib

Amazing food, outstanding service (way above Egyptian standard), tasty alcohol drinks (not what you get in allinclusive), live music with great artists. Definetely worth coming back. Host Mrs. Renata will make you feel welcome and special throughout entire evening. I think that's one of the best places in Egypt.

Wow. After a warm welcome and very good cocktails, we had taken the lobster as an appetizer. Perfectly grilled. Then the camel steak, which is why we came here. 300 grams was enough after the appetizer. The meat was tender and grilled to the point. Perfect. Finally, a piece of cheesecake. Unfortunately, it was so good that we ordered another one. Excellent service. Unique and absolutely top was the transfer. We were picked up from the hotel Steigenberger Alaya and also the return trip was organized free of charge. We can recommend the restaurant 100 percent. We will come again when we are back in Marsa Alam.

Hakuna matata? No way!

At the 1st time we visited the place it was quite ok - I would rate it with 4 points . Somewhat expensive but caring and communicative service. Only cash payments accepted and we had to wait long for rest of money. Shisha and food ok, drinks with rather veeery small amount of alcohol. We were adviced to join however evening live music event, then lots of guests were expected, dancing, fun and generally joyfull time was announced. Indeed on Thursday there was lots of people, far too many to handle by the restaurant. We waited for starters 1,5 hr, for the mail dish we even could not count for, the ordered steaks were out and we learnt about that after 2 hrs sitting at the table. Waiters were running around like headless chickens trying to handle 200 people all complaining about service. Funny thing - for that evening there a special, shorter menu was applied with much higher prices for food!!! Unprofessional approach. Never again.

Loud, expensive and not nice experience

We've been invited to the restaurant by coincidence and due to the fact that the restaurant is run by the Polish person, we thought it will be better for us and more safe. We were wrong. The fact that the restaurant organized the taxi trnsfer, pushes guests to order the main courses. Even though we were there after dinned in the hotel, we had to order some food. For 4 adults, 4 kids, we ordered 3 mains courses, one starter and two caraffes of water. We also took one-max two coctais per adult + lemonade for kids. The bill was close to 250 USD which we think is quite expensive and in comparison with food quality, definitely too high. Sparkling water for $16 imakes this water one of the most expensive in Egypt. Next surprise is that you're alowed to pay anly by cash (no information before). The live music was the only good quality thing, but also the volume is high as at the concert at the stadium. If you scream direcly to your partner's ear, there is a small chance to be understood. We do not reccommed this place unless you are single, drunk and got your own transport or taxi. Otherwise you will feel uncofortable and negatively surprised. Definitely it is not the place for families. Sad to say but we felt misimformed and a bit abused.

Be careful

We have been cheated by staff 2 times. Firstly, we had reservation for Friday for a table. The restaurant cancelled our reservation without informing us so we left without a plan and spot for Friday night. They took reservation for more people instead. What’s more, we came back another day to the restaurant to eat something, a lady offered us 15% discount as a reparation (what is guaranteed for all guests from nearest hotels). When we wanted to pay, there was no discount. When we told a waiter that something is wrong, he added only 10%. We had to talk about this situation to restaurant’s manager. Be careful if u wanna eat there Food was just ok.

The place is massively overrated

The place is massively overrated and overpriced. The food is ok-ish, wine not bad, general vibe ok but for 100€ per person in any european city you can get way better quality. I had better camel steak in hurghada for 15€ in one of the bests restaurants there. The „free“ taxi was 1h late. Not recommended. This place is a scam. Better get a falafel.

The food (I tested sea food) is perfectly cooked. Professional service. Lovely atmosphere. What we need else? Nice place. Strongly recommend for a visit! p.s. I almost forgot to mention a cocktails. Just try:) p.s.2 Special thanks to the owner of the restaurant Renata and her friend Simba. Her attention and friendliness above all praise.

Nice place, grat fair

You can feel like home. Pleasant, well located, good music (some days life). The food could be better (we do not eat camel nor sea food, but still could have good fish), good drinks, shisha etc.

Fantastic place and must have to visit in Pprt Ghalib and Marsa Alam !

We have visited Hakuna Matata during holiday in Marsa Alam. That was oir must have during vacation. The place is worth to visit. The first, the owner, Renata is great person, welcome host, by her care You will feel as in home. The 2nd menu, short menu but worth every penny to spend. Recommend a lot the camel's steak. The 3rd the amosthere there, great party, live music, People who have fun together. Simple a fantastic place to visit.

A lot of mistakes

Food is ok. I ordered tuna steak and a brazilian steak. The brazilian strak was ok, however the tuna was almost raw. Of coarse something can go wrong and second attempt was ok. We got a desert for free. We had several drinks and the live music was nice. However when we asked for the bill they charged us 3 bottles of ouzo in stead of 3 shots. Price difference of 100€. They changed it after I complained. Again a mistake, not nice. Staff is good and working hard.

The best restaurant!!!!

The best restaurant for dinner, cause food are amazing! Very freshly…seafood or steak from camel OMG delicious! Place nice for have fun also…life music on Thursday, singers was so great! You can also dance, music is international, so all of us could find something. Drinks are delicious And staff….they are so, so great! Funny, smiling and very professional! Owner is very nice, smiling she come and talking with everybody…we feel like at home! We spent there great time! So we’re sure isn’t our last time! See you again! I can’t wait

We ate here today. I had Chicken Piripiri. The food was perfect. 10/10. We will come again. You really have to eat here if you are in Port Galib. Cocktails are also good. Whish they could open a restaurant in The Netherlands

Amazing place!!!

It’s really great place for a visit. Tasty food, good drinks and staff is really kind and fast. I really enjoyed the live music and especially music played by DJ, because he is one of the best DJs. If you are in Port Ghalib, you definitely must stop by.

Cool parties and professional staff

Popular place for Europeans in Port Ghalib, good atmosphere. They have great live music, but not every day. Ask Mido about parties on advance, he’ll book table and take care about your rest. First time we came the hookah was bad, but Mido changed it for better one for free of charge. Excellent service! And the music was fun and professional! We had a great time, so highly recommend to visit!
