This was our favourite restaurant in La Fortuna and we had both lunch and dinner here and enjoyed everything we ordered. The owner and chef is Peruvian and cooks a delightful fusion of Chinese and Peruvian cuisine. He has five different types of ceviche, all...delicious, and all his other dishes had a light and fragrant taste with fresh ingredients. He is passionate about food and cooking and welcomes you as if he is inviting you into his own home. The restaurant is run from very humble premises with the kitchen clearly visible from the restaurant. The owner takes the time to bring dishes out to tables in quieter moments and to talk to the diners. In the evenings, his wife waits on tables and his son can be seen sitting quietly on table at the back. It truly is a family affair and the reason for the name of the restaurant, ‘Chifa’ meaning Chinese fusion and La Familia Feliz meaning ‘happy family’!More

This place has a good number of vegetarian friendly options. They also have Chifa dishes or Peruvian Chinese food which is quite unique. It was wonderful speaking to Martin here who is very passionate about food ! Overall a good lunch experience!

Extremely good food, we where overwhelmed by the variety in the menu, so the owner suggested to cook his top 5 as shared plates for everyone. We where 6 ppl and everyone was super full and satisfied after the meal! Must try!

The owner and chef of the restaurant is a highly qualified individual who runs this place out of passion. The meals were not just delicious, they were joyful flavor discoveries for both my partner (a meat eater) and myself (a vegan). As a cherry on...top he's also a very enthusiastic, funny person, who welcomes the guests himself. Upon my naive curiosity, he was very happy to explain with the most colourful examples how the fusion of the Peruvian and Chinese cuisines came about hahaha. The food was absolutely fantastic. The service was very friendly and the owner / chef came by our table 4-5 times … he was super friendly in a shy / chill kind of way. The Peruvian Ceviche was the best I have ever tasted. The...Jalea Real was some of the best fried food (Fish, shrimp and casava) I have ever had. Although the Chef tried to tell us we were ordering too much - I didn’t listen and by the time the last dish came we were very full. The portions for the most part are quite - so careful how much you order. Staying here 4 days - we want to go back a few times. We saw a lot of people read the menu outside and walk away … I think that’s because the menu is not that attractive and the place has some dark colours that may be off-putting to some. But please ignore they look if you are not into it and simply try the food … at the very least the Ceviche!More
