It was our first time in this Indian restaurant, the atmosphere inside is very authentic which makes it a cozy dinner for 2 or a great family dinner. The interior is designed well. The food was very tasty, a little oily but was still fine.
Only downer was that the staff was not very nice. Whenever the waiter would come to our table to take orders he would instantly spread such negative energy as well as the other waiter which both were Indian. We wanted to ask them some questions about Indian Cousine and culture but they didn’t seem very approachable. We just tried to be least hassle for them as possible since they seemed so annoyed by everything.

A more finer dining Indian restaurant, this place impresses on every level. From the service, food, cleanliness, I feel I can’t wait to come back for another feast. There are some typical menu selections but some new items I haven’t tried in my years of enjoying Indian food piqued my interest. They were also open to preparing off-menu items that we love and they brought us a delicious curd rice and vindaloo that we had been craving. I would be hard pressed to find Indian food at this quality, taste, and service in Shanghai if not further afield.

We passed by Dagu Road on a Friday evening, where you can find a bunch of restaurants, and decided to try Masala Art, a nice looking Indian restaurant.
Welcoming was very nice, by the team of Indian waiters. We had butter chicken, another chicken dish (forgot the name, look at the picture), jeera rice and garlic naan. All was tasty! Service always very nice.
I recommend Masala Art and will be back in the future. Thank you!

Amazing food, splendid authentic cuisine, was told that spices are freshly ground in Delhi and used herein Shanghai to keep that flavour intact.
Loved the food and enjoyed going there during my 4 years stay within Shanghai.
Thank You for making the experience unique and full of flavours.

Excellent decor and tasty Indian food, that is how I will sum up my experience at Masala Art. Service was also quick and the food tasted authentic as well as fresh. That itself is a delight when you look at many other Indian restaurants in Shanghai.

Ambience of the restaurant was good, no one at the counter to receive guests, every one seemed to know the place and went about doing as they would do!
Food taste presentation and quality was good.
At end of the meal staff refused to call a taxi stating everyone is busy, now in China btw unless you have Alipay or DIDI ( Chinese payment gateway and Cab) apps, it’s almost impossible to arrange a DIDI ( local Uber)
I had to request the next door hair salon person to arrange a cab for me which he happily did for me.
So- bad taste left in my mouth by staff and management of Madala Art

Service was very bad. Food took really long to arrive. Curries were good but spicy so be sure to ask for mild.
Unhelpful staff -, we asked about a taxi , the lady said outside , however there is no taxis available in this area witout a booming, we foreigners we can't book.

I went twice a day for lunch and dinner, I really liked the lunch so I went for dinner, but at dinner, I got a stone in my food and I was almost done with my food. I mentioned it once and continued eating rest. I had another stone again, I called the staff and nobody was answering or even concerned about the incident. Very disrespectful with not being addressed or having concerns when there is an issue. Overall a very bad experience, can’t recommend it when they are disrespectful without bothering about incidents.

Maybe it’s what I ordered, but I the food did not seem very traditional and the flavor was all pretty similar between dishes. I usually love Indian food but personally wouldn’t go back here.

Very good Indian dishes. Not cheap. Not enough vegan options. Very nice decor and good location.
Recommended dishes: Tomato soup, lamb dishes, Pistachio desert.

Owner very rude.
We waited 3 hours
For food.
No waiters
Owner was not apologetic at all.
What we ordered did not even come but we had to pay for it.
I would highly not recommend this restaurant to anyone

Came here and enjoyed it so much we came back two days later with more people in tow. Had the meat thali which was delicious, would highly recommend. Was very well looked after by Jasmine.
