What a delightful spot for a delicious lunch of butter chicken and black dal. And icing on the cake was owner Mr. Anand's helpful suggestions on sightseeing. It's definitely worth stopping in for a meal and a chat.

What an experience! After a long time an almost perfect experience. But before sharing in detail one point which disappointed. I had originally planned to visit to have their non Vegetarian thali for lunch.Arrived there around quarter past 1 but was told that Thali was...not possible at that time, either have to wait half an hour 45 min or can get the thali item in regular plate, the reason they gave that they have limited number of Thali set and all are engaged with a large group of guests. They were all including the manager was were sorry for that.So I skipped the plan for Thali and went ahead with A La Carte menu and didn’t disappointed with the food .Now let’s get back to review. Location: Situated inside Forum mall at Elgin road, easy to access, also around 10 min walk from Netaji Bhawan metro. Ambience: Perfect ambience with pleasant lighting and comfortable sitting arrangements, not congested. Service: Everyone from server to manager were too courteous, specially manager Mr Amit,he was too sorry for not able to serve the Thali. During the meal they were too attentive and asking about food or any new requirements that I had to request them to let me concentrate on food, will certainly call them if anything required or wrong. Food: Now comes to main part,I ordered Mutton Kosha,Bhetki Paturi with Govindobhog bhog rice. They serves papad,Raita and savory tomato chutney complementary.Among all Bhetki paturi was perfect,Bhetki fish marinated in coriander based marination and steamed in banana leaf. Mutton Kosh was good too and went well with steamed rice, the rice was full of fragrance. Ended the meal with Nolen Gurer IceCream which was a perfect way to end the feast. For few price may be on little higher side but as per my experience it’s justified, its value for money with the ambience, service and food quality they are providing. Overall a certainly a recommended place and will certainly visit again, this time for Thali.More
This was a truly excellent Indian restaurant and my group of 11 had one of better meals in Kolkata. Most highly recommended
First time at Oh Calcutta (Elgin Road, Kolkata location). Simply superb was food + service. Especially a shout out to Nripen for taking wonderful care of us !!! You need more servers like Nripen. Keep up the good food + service. Cheers !!!
What a day it was! Being Bengali Jamai Babu, I knew that people in Bengal go crazy on Dashmi day but this crazy? I tried for a reservation here, but this service was revoked and so was their ala carte system ..lol We reached here...at 2 PM and it was 40 min waiting time which turned into 1 hr. finally got the table at 3 PM. They have a set menu (buffet) for the day and it consists of almost every item that a normal Bengali can desire (except biryani, wonder why they did not include biryani on the menu) Starters- -------------------- Chingri cutlet: I liked it most, crunchy, and filled with “fillers” :P Tandoori Ghee roast chicken: it was cold, not sure why they did not keep a small burner underneath the containers.. – 2.5/5 ( had it been served hot, the taste would have been different) Dimer Devil: good, nothing to mention… 3/5 Main course- ----------------------------- Cholar daal Kosha Alu Dum Narkol Phoolkopi Jhalfrezi Kacha lonka Murgi Mangsher Jhol Fish Fry Pabda Shorshay bata Chingri Mala curry I did not go for veg items, but all the nonveg items were good. Preparation, taste, service – all good. Dessert items also have Kheer, Payesh, Kalakand, Misti Doi, etc… Ambiance: it’s really good. Outsiders like me can feel the Bengali vibe here. On a normal day, one can enjoy the ambiance while having a meal. Today, everyone was in a rush to get mutton pieces as soon it was filled out..hahaha Service: though it was crowded, they maintained their service level Price 1399/PP Overall: Definitely recommended.. 4/5More
Excellent Calcutta style Bengali food, though can be a little less spicy for the initiated. The Daab shrimps and the Bhetki paturi are to die for. Very good, attentive service.
Decent food. Good Décor and pretty awesome service. The star attractions were luchi and kosha mangsho, the gondhoraj chicken and the bhetki. We will definitely visit again.
The most lively outlet I have visited yet from the chain. The decor is great and the seating capacity is lounge & specious but this is one outlet where the feel of traditional Bengali dining is slightly greater than the other ones. The Fish Preparations,...Chicken Curry - must try. If I had to choose only one outlet of Oh! Calcutta to re-visit over and over again I would probably choose this one, since it is convenient in a Mall, and i also noticed space is pre booked for private events and stuff. Music is nice, staff are nice too to recommend, beverage sections are extensive, since it is situated in a mall, felt is pricy!More
We (5 Adults including 3 Senior Citizens and one kid) visited this place on a weekday. We came to know that the Thalis were not shareable which does not make any sense from customer point of view. I am sure customers do not want to...visit such places where they are prevented from sharing Thalis. We had to order a-la-carte where we asked them to suggest one non-veg starter. They recommended Topse Fry which costs around 600 for 5 pieces. When the item was served we did not find an iota of fish within. So even if you visit the place, do not ask for their recommendation. The taste for rest of the items we ordered was good but not anything exceptional. Overall our experience was pretty average. Also cost of the items are pretty high. If you are ready to spend that amount of money, there are many other good places in the city to explore. We will surely not be visiting this place again and recommend all our known people to stay away from this place.More
Very authentic Bengali cuisine. Service unobtrusive but very attentive. Meals were excellent and freshly cooked - a short wait but well worth it as food was served quickly and piping hot..
I and my mother both love Oh Calcutta. Though every time after we finish I felt my mother can make any Bengali dish far better than them. Still we visit for something specific like fish patiruri, fry. My father is vegetarian but she makes wonderful...non veg too. Now coming to the review… We had been their for lunch. We went some where for some imp work, while returning wanted to have lunch and try newly launched thali. My mother was not in mood to food. So I ordered a non veg thali. There were rice 2 veg item, fish paturi, prawn and mutton. And 2 Luchis apart from aloo and begun bhaja. It was morethan sufficient for me. I wanted to share Luchi, dal and veg item with my mom. I gave them to her. I have came across so bad experience. The attendant came and asked me that I can not share food. This was wired. I had thalis in many places a d we shared also. But #ohcalcutta has objection. The attendant almost snatched my mom’s plate. It was very disgusting. When we are in food industry you should treat your patrons properly. Its about food. I never expected this unprofessional and chief behaviour from #Ohcalcutta and #anjanchatterjee chain of restaurant. I then ordered for my mom and packed food which was extra. They also have problems I guess as they said we charge for “ packing”. This is ridiculous. Shame Oh calcutta. Due to behavioural issue I have 1 point.More
We were a family of 9 we ordered quite a bit the big prawn curry we ordered two separate plates they brought it in one bowl just a bit more then one plate, this prawn curry was sweet I was shocked it’s like eating dessert....Waiters did not know who ordered what. Non veg thali was just like a Udupi joint thali but everything taste sweet from paneer, ever heard of a sweet prawn curry, very spicy mustard fish could not out in the mouth aweful. Please avoid there are much better restaurants like Trinkas, Peter cat, Mocambo on Park Street.More
Appetizing dishes… we had a thali (see attached photo for the menu).. delicious from start to finish.. everything was so unique in taste and preparation that it was a feast to the palate. The fresh lime soda and lassi was great too. They served us...a sweet chutney (made of dates and tomato) with papad before the dessert - it was yummy too. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend there if you are in Kolkatta.More

Very nice meal in a branch of Oh Calcutta! within a shopping mall. Good service and good food. Getting a taxi back to my hotel afterwards wasn't easy as the taxi drivers couldn't work out where it was or how much to charge.
