Fantastic service

I had seen this restaurant when walking through town and decided to save it for our last night. The service was fantastic and the wine we chose was the best bottle of the holiday. We shared cheeses to start and fish platter for 2. My only negative is that none of the meals came with anything. I know you order sides in Croatia & I had ordered potatoes to go with my sons duck but no vegetables or salad at all with the fish or the teriyaki chicken, just let it down for me slightly, for the price. Maybe the waiter should’ve mentioned this when ordering- I’m being picky! I’d love to come back & try the sushi.

Best tuna ever

We eat at Don Dino every summer when we come to Trogir, and this year was the best. Or the worst, because the menu is so good that we had a really hard time deciding what to order. Luckily, we were a group of friends so we could order a lot of different things. First, tuna is a must, it is by far the best tuna we have ever tasted, not just in Croatia. Tartar, sashimi, carpaccio, grilled...we tried it all and it was all simply amazing. The selection od appetizers seemed great, and the sushi, but we couldn’t skip the tuna this time. The meat lovers in our group started with pata negro prosciutto and then ordered the tomahawk steak, and it’s definitely something I want to come back for. Our friend’s kid ordered the burger (he’s a picky eater) and we couldn’t even try a bite because he ate the whole thing (which never happens). I’m definitely coming back to try that burger. All in all, we expected things to be slower because of the whole situation with restrictions everywhere, but Don Dino is packed (we reserved a couple of days in advance) and then we saw why. They made an extra effort this year, the owners seem to be there all the time, checking every meal before it comes to the table. And that’s the way it should be. We’ll be back soon for sure! By far the best food in Trogir.

A Real Treat

We visited the Restaurant on the 08/09. We timed it right and got a table for 2 . The menu was good as was the wine list. The waiter/ server helped us pick a bottle on our personal preferences. We started with Carpaccio of Beef for my wine and I was adventurous with Pea and Mint Soup(I like soup) Both dishes where great and we loved them. For mains we both chose the lamb cutlets (Rack of Lamb).Again for preference pink to medium for both. The lamb was beautiful and cooked perfectly with a balanced pink / medium throughout. It was served with baby potatoes. We ordered a side of vegetables as it was needed. Dessert and coffees followed to finish off. The wine we ordered was a red Zinvandel - Kastelanski Crljenal from a local winery and was amazing. The service was really god with our server engaging and helpful. Between Main and Dessert there was a delay but it could have been the restaurant had gotten busy or at home we just go at a more rushed pace. Be aware the prices are more expensive but I felt it was worth it for a really special evening. The best I can say is that I will definitely be back !

Good food but not able to manage reservations

The restaurant has not the capacity to accept reserves. We have waited 95 minutes to get the first dish and we missed one plate; many other tables went away without eating. Food was ok but nothing special. My recommendation to the guests: don’t try to get there in August. My recommendation to the restaurant: if you don’t have the capacity, please don’t accept the reservations.

What to say- when i want to have a table in a full restaurant( making a very late reservation as you did; then showing up an hour before its possible) I am aware that i will have to wait… do not know why the people- especially ones being on vacation - (in August-)have a problem with it. First visit but not the last-excellent restaurant

I heard a lot about Don Dino and its reputation of being the best restaurant in Trogir (and there are many restaurants in this small city) so this summer I decided to check if this nomination was correct. And I was not disappointed, on the contrary it lived up to its expectations. The reservation of the table is a must at least in August! We reserved the table one day in advance and we sill had to wait about 15-20 minutes until our table was ready. However, very polite lady in charge of reservations made it less unpleasant to wait with offering us glass of prosecco. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! First we had a soup from chickpeas, shrimps and truffles and for the main course some of us had home made black tagliatelle with sea food and others tuna and it is difficult to decide which was better. I would definitely like to come again to this restaurant and enjoy some more of its great and innovative food.

We’ve eaten here twice!

We’ve eaten here twice in a week. Delicious & upscale menu different to the usual tourist fare. Asian menu is especially flavorful & kids were thrilled there was sushi on the menu. The starters were very fresh - beet tartare with feta and burrata were our favorites! The waiters were very funny and joked around with the kids.

A total winner!

We came here on our first night and had a fantastic meal.Great risotto starters for me and my wife whilst my daughter had a terrific sushi spread.Followed up with an incredible Tomahawk steak which was outrageously tasty! Great setting and service so we rebooked for 3 nights later and had an equally excellent experience, this time with an encrusted Sea Bass which was fab. Go there!

Simply maginifique - The best dining experience on the Adriatic!

This restaurant is without question the best restaurant on Trogir, and frankly was the best restaurant in 8 islands visited in the Adriatic. The service and hospitality excellent, the food excellent, the exceptional wine list excellent. I was surprised, lifted and with the heavenly delights delivered, I had the most memerable time at Don Dino, I will return to Trogir and without question will want to return to thjis amazing restaurant. The owners take pride in their food and hospitality, this shows through in the staff and in everything they do, the fish of the day and the way this is cooked, was mouth watering. My only regret after 3 hours was I needed to leave the restaurant. I will be back!!!

Best tuna tartare and tataki!

The tuna tartare and tataki is aaaabsolutely incredible. SO fresh, and prepared with such care. The atmosphere is so romantic, located in the Heart of old town Trogir. The energy is lively, yet serene. All of the staff are kind, entertaining and take much pride in every dish and plate served. Don Dino is one of the few restaurants that makes and serves sushi ~ which is delicious. I love how some of their dishes fuse Asian dishes with a local twist and with local flavours + ingredients. You can also experience many traditional Dalmatian specialties here as well. If you are looking for an authentic experience on the coast of Croatia, this is a restaurant I would visit! I would 10/10 recommend Don Dino for a date, or even a dinner with a bunch of friends! I go back every year when I come to Croatia for summer vacation!

A definite restaurant for dinner in Trogir

We had 2 pasta dishes and the flank steak. We also had a Greek salad and all 5 meals were delicious. Lovely setting too. All of our meals were between €24-€30 each which felt good value for money. I would definitely come to this restaurant if you’re looking for a nice meal whilst you’re in Trogir. Our waiter was attentive and kind - recommending wine and meals and keeping our glasses full.

Fabulous food and service - local fare

Fabulous food and service. Our group of six had an excellent dinner at Don Dino. Our server Krjsimir provided excellent recommendations on Croatian wines which were fabulous. The dinner began with homemade bread and local olive oil, we tried the tuna tar tar ( so fresh) and our group had multiple pasta dishes prepared with fresh seafood, an excellent well portioned chicken salad, cherry tomatoe salad, and tuna. The taste of the food and service was impeccable. I would return to this Restaraunt again and highly recommend if you are visiting Trogir.

Just perfect!

Simply perfect. A genuinely warm welcome from Drago, who waited on our table. He recommended a starter that wasn’t on the lunch menu, Tuna Tartare. It was beautiful! I had the Shrimp Risotto, my wife and her friend had the Seafood Tagliatelle, her husband had the Salmon with Wok Vegetables. Every dish was faultless. The wine list was extensive, but as only two of our party were drinking they opted for a glass each of the house white, which was a local Dalmatian Organic White (sorry we can’t remember the name), again a recommendation from Drago. I’m told it was lovely, and there’s a bottle with our name on it when we return for an evening meal later in the week. If you’re visiting in the evening, you’ll need to book as they’re more or less fully booked every night. You should be okay to just walk in at lunchtime (out of high season anyway) Very highly recommended!

Finally worth sushi in Croatia!

With the whole situation in the world, a vacation in Trogir is like an escape from reality, especially when the food is delicious. In my previous reviews I have made it known that I am a big fan of sushi. I was out of breath when I entered the facility, and there’s a big tuna of I don’t even know how many pounds, and they’re preparing it in front of your eyes, fresh. Since we were during the day, we had the option of a “daily menu”, but despite the narrowed selection, everything was perfect, especially the melanzana (for cheese and vegetable lovers)! Now we definitely have to go back in the evening and try other delicacies!

The restaurant is in the middle of the old town with excellent atmosphere and professional and kind service. The staff is very attentive and fast. The beef wellington was overcooked and it lacked mushrooms. The salad outweighed the heaviness of the beef though. Fair prices and value for money, but not fine dining.

Don Dino, did it again. Standard menu they change, no surprise, but now they add some far east zing. It is not a fusion, but you have an option; eat traditional food, touch of street food or endulge yourself with something fresh; sushi. Yes they serve sushi as well and it is a mind blowing experience. For couples, platter is best option. That is what we have had, ok bit of the starter as well, octopus, but rest of was sushi only. Funny but next year there will be at least half doezen restaurants in Trogir serving sushi, just because Don Dino is a benchmark for food here. Must come and must try
