The restaurant may be pricy in Manaus scale but really affordable for tourists. Their house specialty tambaqui fish for two (half a fish) for 65 reais, like 15 euros. It was excellent. But the fishballs were not that great, probably wiser to go for the real thing and have some fresh fish. Don't miss this one if in Manaus.

We went here on the recommendation of some friends and it was amazing. We ordered the piraracu bites and the tambaqui de bande for two, which comes as an entire, perfectly prepared fish that you can pull the ribs from. A cold beer and beautifully presented capirinha rounded out the meal. Our server didn’t speak English and we speak very little Portuguese, but that was no barrier. Highly recommend.

This restaurant is right on the Praca Sao Sebestiao. It's great for people watching but also for the wonderful fish that they serve. I had the tambaqui de banda fish (the restaurant's namesake) which was wonderful. A single fish can serve 2-3 people. There is also a large variety of exotic fruit juices. Sit on the square if you can. There really is no view from inside.

We ate there three times during our stay in Manaus. They serve regional food and it was every time so tasting, the service is very good and fast. Do not forget to try the MatrinxĂŁ Recheada with Banana Farofa! Sooo tasty! The moqueca and the pirarucu assada were also very good!

We strolled to the historic centre after returning from 'upriver'; we took pics of the 'Teatro' and wandered down to the gigantic port, trying to get a feel for Manaus. Then we hummed-and-hawed about where to eat...for about 5 seconds as it quickly became obvious that 'Tambaqui' was the best choice. They didn't disappoint! Fresh, cold craft beers, a wide selection of foods including a vegetarian version of Moqueca (though very fish-heavy, as is the case in the area), plus fast and friendly service. All said, this is likely the best choice in this neighbourhood of Manaus, if not the whole city!

We went on recommendations from friends. We got the tambaqui fish for 2. It was delicious only large rib bones no other bones. Fish was grilled nice size for 2 served with rice. We sat outside and the fans were sufficient to keep us cool. Inexpensive for such a nice lunch.

I don't know how this place gets so many 5 star reviews. The only plus for a foreigner is that they had an English menu. Unfortunately, apart from the presence of the menu in English, none of the staff knew this language. Ok, I got used to it in Brazil.. But the food and the service? Failure. The historic center of the city, seating only outside, and chairs such that after 20 minutes you wish you could sit on something else. There were two of us and We only ordered 2 dishes, one per person, and overall the tables were less than 50% occupied - yet the dish was served for one person. The second person didn't get their dish until 15 minutes later when the first person was finishing their meal. If only the dishes were worth the wait, but no! We ordered Pirarucu fish - fried in one dish, in stew in the other. In both versions, the fish was dried to piece and without taste at all. It must have been frozen for a long time. It was absolutely not fresh fish, which I have already eaten in other places. I have no idea if they serve us such bad quality fish because they saw 'tourists' in us, or this is normal every day quality fish. I do NOT recommend.

I ordered a drink and food. They took my menus away and delivered the drink immediately. After an hour (during which I was attacked and stung by bees who were attracted by the drink, though I don't blame them) I still hadn't received my food. I asked and they said I never ordered. I explained I did, the waitress even clarified the food order three times, wrote it down in her phone, and took away all the menus and that if I hadn't ordered, why didn't a waiter come by once over the next hour. They didn't even apologize or offer to comp a drink, they just said I had to reorder. Needless to say I just asked for the check and went to a different restaurant. I get mistakes happen, but the lack of empathy or accountability was frustrating. I'll also say the drinks and food seemed rather pricy for this area.

Great location overlooking Opera House in a nice outdoor setting. Service was slow by American standards but the tasty local fish cooked in a bechemel Parmesan sauce was so worth it. When the bill cones be ready for a shock. Costs less than fries and a Big Mac! And that includes a 500 ml draught beer!

If you want to try diverse local food go here, right in the old city heart. Big choice of local fish species from Amazon cooked in plenty of ways, boiled, assado, grilled etc.etc. with and without side dish. You can seat both outside and inside (with a/c). Great view to the central square, theater and local Sunday atmosphere :) Try and enjoy it

The fish at the restaurant is really delicious and the staff is really friendly. When I was there, there was live music that was great for the ambiance. The price of the dishes is good and on the terrace and balcony you have a nice view over the central square.

Nice place. The food was quite good. We had a shrimp and gnocchi soup that was great. They also brought a small sampling of their Tambaqui soup that was really good. Service was very good. Our server spoke just enough English and Portuguese is close enough to Spanish that we were able to order very easily. Nice outdoor seating as well as indoor, and a good view of the Opera House and park. Would happily go back.

Excellent service and reasonably priced. Fish was succulent, either as "ribs" or in a fish cake with fried bananas. Cool juices and sodas. Live music too. Right next to the Theatro.

To be very very fair, the food was good, but the service to be bad, has to improve. ANYTHING you order,it takes forever to be serviced, and be sure you're not charged twice for everything you order. I don't feel they tried to scam me, but they're very, very, very, deorganized, service is really really bad.
