A great place for dinner and view of the Opera House

I ate here upon my arrival in Manaus and again a week later after a Rio Negro 6 day trip. I know this place is good because on the second visit it had multiple parties of locals as a dinner place for celebrations (birthdays, etc. ) The staff is good, variety of foods, close to the Opera House and plaza.

Beautiful Restaurant

This restaurant serves outstanding food with an emphasis on local dishes. The selection is good and the service is efficient. You can even get some of the local drinks that are slightly neuro-toxic (numbing effect on the lips and tongue). The ambience is quite nice.

Delicious food and atmosphere

Excelent food, exotic, amazonic fishes mixed with exotic flavors taken from fruits and seeds from Amazon rainforest. Nice drinks. Expetacular service. I strong recommend. Near Amazon theatre, another famous attraction in Manaus.

Terrible Service & mediocre food

Not impressed at all! Appetizer (Fried Sardines) and Caipirinhas, were the only things to rescue. Nobody to greet us or tell us where we could sit. Some of the staff was rude and looked completely overwhelmed. Main dish took FOREVER to arrive and was over cooked and dry. To top it all off, they tried to charge us for 2 cocktails that we didn’t order. Not coming back.

Delicious food in Manaus!

The restaurant is very charming and cozy and the food is simply amazing. Sandra, was extremely well informed of all the options in the menu and wisely helped us choose delicious dishes. Totally recommended, it is a must in Manaus for the best regional food, gourmet style.

Nice service and ambience. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the famous Manaus theater, with large windows, located in an old house. The food is nice! Bits and pieces of exotic tastes of the north of Brazil. Loved the experience.

Caxiri is located on the second floor, directly across from the iconic Opera House in downtown old city Manaus. The ambiance is pleasantly cultural and quiet enough for easy table conversation. Service was appropriately attentive and friendly. Wines are reasonably priced with selections available by the glass. Our main dishes of lamb and fish were really good; excellently prepared and plated. Local river fish is terrific. We found the tembaqui particularly good, reminding us of black cod with its rich oily character. The fruit surprise dessert was also creative and delicious. If we are ever back in Manaus, we will certainly return to Caxiri.

Lovely place upstairs in the centre of Manaus - recommended

Half an hour before opening time (which is 7pm) this place looked closed down and we nearly went elsewhere but just checked before we did luckily. What a lovely place on the first floor (the lobby is anonymous). We went at 7.30pm and it was a third full but by the time we left there were people queuing and it’s clear why. Delicious ceviche and also carpaccio starters. Mains of steak and extremely tasty shoulder of Lamb. A bottle of wine and we paid £73 GBP including service. Excellent value. Recommended

Trying new things

Great food, atmosphere and service. The chef incorporated all local ingredients into a very clever menu. Our waiter Caio explained a lot about the local food and eating habits. He invited us to try new things which we are glad we did.

Fantastic dinner in the heart of Manaus

Fantastic dinner here tonight. Lovely setting, upstairs in an historic building across from the Theater. The food was exceptional, so many options we could return many times. My husband and I both had fish dishes, all the flavors are unique. Wine is offered by the glass and the caipirinhas were super. Loved this restaurant!

We ate dinner at Caxiri Manaus. The food, service, and surroundings are all first class. The dining area is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Service was truly excellent, out server was superb, very personable and efficient. The food is excellent and combines local ingredients, like manioc, with traditional items like beef. They're have a really nice variety of Amazonian fish as well as beef pork, and lamb. We went early because we did not have a reservation and luckily because the restaurant was totally filled with people as the night went on. I highly recommend it for a first class meal in Manaus.

Fantastic view of the Teatro Amazonas - get a window table if you can. Despite the location, the clientele seemed to be mostly locals. I think it's quite upmarket by Manaus standards. Very good service. A mixture of local dishes (my collagues had the grilled fish) and more mainstream Brazilian (I had very good picanha). The mixed drinks looked good.

Wonderful Meal and Atmosphere

Caxiri had the best food we’ve had in Brazil. The Arapaima was amazing and the other local fish was superbly prepared as well. The ice cream desert with Brazil nuts, pralines, local figs and chocolate was a great way to end the meal. The service was excellent as well.

An experience and meal not to be missed!

Wow! This was not only the best food we’ve had in a long time, but the service was amazing. Beef carpaccio appetizer is a must along with ceviche. I rarely order steak but the filet was the best I’ve ever had. I can go on about the food but on top of that, the room decor was lovely and stunning. It appeared they were training some new staff and the manager was extremely engaged and supportive. His young staff truly wanted to please their clients. Highly recommend!
