Back in May we ordered carryout from the normally reliable Fords Fish Shack and were disappointed. Hence a less than 5-star review. With restaurants now open, we decided to try dining in but asking for the outdoor patio for a 7 pm seating. We arrived...on time and initially told nothing was available on the patio but the front of the restaurant. That was too hot so we waited. Tables were available inside but following the recommendations of the CDC, we preferred the outside. The hostess told us a table was ready and she took us to a table normally for 5 and cleaned it down for us (which was nice). We were also told that to ensure as may diners could eat, seating was limited to 55 minutes…which works as long as the food arrives on time as it did. The menu is shortened (for example no sweet mini rolls) Note also that none of the outside tables have fans (like Mon Ami Garib in Reston) so it was hot. Luckily there were sweet and cold lemonades and cokes to cool us down. Mike G was our server (we have had him prior and he is good). We really wanted to taste the great crab cakes and fish but not have to order 2 meals which would have been too much. Mike suggested 1 of us ordering the crab cake meal and then ordering a fish each as a side. Great suggestion and that is what we did. The food arrived quickly. One suggestion is that when 2 people are eating and sharing all of this food, have 2 large plates not just 1. My wife ordered mash potatoes in lieu of fries and it was accommodated. All the food tasted great and it was the old Fords Fish Shack again and we were happy to enjoy the food. Note that eve. at 7 pm, its hot outside so be prepared for the heat unless you eat later. BTW like all other restaurants these days, there are no menus, you have to take a picture of the code and the menu pos up.More

During this pandemic, We decided to order pick-up at one of our local favorites Ford’s Fish Shack. Wanting to support out local eateries we have been eating out most weekends, although results have been very mixed. Sadly this one was too. Ordering was easy with...its menu. WE ordered the chopped salad, kids fried fish and 2 crab cakes. Picking up was easy. Someone comes around and asks for name and order. When we returned hone came the disappointment. The crab cakes were cold and lumpy. The fish fried were not crispy at all. The salad was dry without the dressing we were used to. Someone mentioned take-outs are as good as the containers but this was not the case. Disappointing but we still gave 22% tip for our local restaurant. Went for lunch the other day and it was absolutely outstanding to include the adult hot chocolate with the giant sized marshmallow in it. The fish and chips were great and even the unsweetened ice tea was quite tasty. When I need fish, I go...to Ford's!More

The best fish sandwich. Great lobster salad. We often get food to go and, it is quick and packaged well for to go. Love this place.

Hidden gem in Ashburn Our relatives were in town from out of state for my mother’s memorial service and for dinner I knew just the place for excellent food and service, Ford’s Fish Shack. Thanks to Ana Aviles for having our table on time and...the Manager on duty. Hames M was our server and was greacious and attentative along with his colleagues during the evening. For appetizers guacamole and main chips all familiar great choices. For main courses, shoped salad, crab cake sandwich, the flounder special, salmon fish and salmon salad. All served at the right temperature and tasty. For dessert I convinced my relatives to try the awesome bread pudding and triple chocilate cake. A busy evening as always and everyone enjoted the evening. Thanks Ana and all the staff You Rock!!!!More

I love that this place, it is very close to my home and has the best fish & chips. Have taken my guests there and everyone had enjoyed their seafood orders.

Dependably good seafood! Also very much enjoy the little baskets of little corn bread muffins! Moist with corn in the muffins! Oyster shooters are also a must try! Really good.
