It takes guts to leave a well paid job with an established company, follow your heart and open your own business. - Especially so when you are a woman in an Islamic society. Zeeba did just that recently and her success proves that she's on...the right path. Her food outlets are a great mix of old classics (hamburger, subway, toast) and exciting new ones (spinach wrap, home made cookies, great cakes and hot chocolate with little marshmallows.) The Deli & Cafe is tiny, just seats a maximum of 14 guests, which gives Zeeba the time and chance to mingle with guests and connect with them - which adds a great charme to the rustic, lovely decorated interior. Raving reviews on her facebook site and friends who posted photos from a visit, put it on my bucket list too and I went this morning for a classical Maldivian breakfast (mashuni and kulhi mas with roshi). While we were waiting for a new badge of eggs, Zeeba and I had a lovely chat, so time flew. The four roshi were sufficient for a filling breakfast and well done. The kulhi mas was lovely in taste but lacked a little bit of salt and the mashuni had too much chillie in it, which overpowered the delicate flavor of the fish and coconut, and I missed a hint of lime and again another pinch of salt to have it perfectly balanced. For take away I went for the last cinnamon roll (yummy, but the lime in the icing isn't necessary), a slice of freshly baked banana cake and a bag of home made cookies for my daughter. I will you on Zeeba, to keep tasting for perfection, to bring always new and exciting items and to never stop learning the trade and finding joy in your heart. You already have many fans and will get more for sure. Wherever you are in Male they will follow you for your charming, rustic place, your yummy cakes, your hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows and your spirit. I will come again to taste your home-made lasagne and have my fingers crossed that the additional pinch of salt was added.More
