This place is not the same concept anymore. It is a simple ramen place. There is no more sake but just a few food and 6 drinks.

Spotted this place and wandered in to taste some sake after a evening of wandering kyoto. There is a 300 yen service charge for which we received a small grill plate with some vegetables too get us in the mood. And it worked. We ordered...some plates of japanese "tapas". We were curious and skeptical about trying the deep fried oyster, but it was excellent. The staff were very helpful, patient and had decent English. One waiter taught us how to drink Sake like a local. Their recommended pairing with the dishes were well informed. Nice relaxing evening in a local and friendly atmoshere.More

Walked all the way to this place based on all the raving reviews but could not be more disappointed. Service was glum and cold, charges you cover charge and that you have to each order drinks on top of that. Grilled mackerel was good, duck...was bit meh, special 3 kinds of Kyoto dishes was disappointing. Would not recommend.More

My wife and I stumbled upon this place while wondering around Gion in Kyoto. They have some great small food plates and a wonderful selection of sake to try. The staff was friendly and everything about the place was a lot of fun. Good music...to go along with the whole experience. I definitely want to come back.More

Wadachi is a great place to try a selection of small plates of a huge variety of food. The waitress was very helpful when it came to ordering sake as we are not used to drinking sake. I recommend a visit as it is a...relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The vegetable tempura and the fried mackerel in vinegar were delicious!More

Maybe we came on a bad night but we were a little disappointed given the great reviews. We ordered a fair bit of food and were surprised after hearing fridge doors opening that a lot of it was served immediately and very cold. This wouldn’t...have been a problem if not for the fact that we’d ordered ‘roasted’ and ‘fried’ food. Sake was good (but I don’t think 500yen is cheap for a glass...we’ve been in Japan for 4 weeks and this was the worst value) so maybe it’s a place just for sampling lots of sake varieties.More

The bar is not big but has pretty good sake choices serve by the glass. 3 young men mend the bar and serve simple but delicious food. Tried the Kyoto dry noodle and is quite chewy and nice. Great way to try different sake.

I went there being told there was an extensive choice of sake. Well, it was not mentioning the passion and knowledge of the bartender ! She gave very good advice on what to try, as I was lost in the large choice there was. The...place is relaxing, with some cosy jazzy music, which is perfect for such an experience. I strongly recommend !More

Yep! I said it-Fried Chicken! But not like the American version-Better, way better! The chicken and the food are 5 stars!! Not exactly the first thing you think of in Japan, but my goodness does Wadachi get it right. We went on a Tuesday night...and it wasn't too busy. It has a very nice atmosphere and it was a nice surprise to have the ladies working there speak very good English. Two small issues that made me give it a 4 and not 5 star review. They ran out of white wine. I get it that sake is their thing, but to run out of white wine was a bit odd. Secondly, be aware, they bring you the "complementary" vegetables you grill over the hot coals at your table. But like in Europe where you get charged a service charge for bread, you get charged a service charge and get the vegetables. We hadn't experienced that in Japan, so we were a bit surprised.More

Cool relaxed vibe with a wide variety of sake on the menu! Feels like a wine bar back home with chilled music and friendly staff. Only negative is the 300 yen service charge per person that includes an appetiser (which is just 1 strip of...pepper, 1 slice of spring onion and some fish skin) that they bring you to roast in a little coal BBQ. Fries are also a very small portion for 450 yen. But apart from that the sake is great and only 500 yen for 1.5 shots! Hidden gem tucked away right next to the train station. Highly recommend for drinks!More
