Firstly when you arrive they have to let you in as door is locked. Safety must be an issue in the area Food. Well frankly I think it’s mediocre. We had the peppered steak and the Fried Rosada Fish. I have lots of Rosada in...south of Spain and frankly this is really poor in comparison. Steak in peppered sauce was not the best. Service was excellent however had not even the starter and they brought the main course. It was also too rushed. I don’t understand these 5 star reviews.More
We hadn't been there in a long time and thought we would visit it again. Our only regret is that we didn't come back sooner. I had a basic fried shrimp and they were the biggest and juiciest fish I have had in a long...time. Crispy on the outside tender and juicy in the middle. My wife had fish in a white sauce and both were delicious. Nothing fancy, but well done. The service was friendly and helpful. It was a great experience and we will be back soon.More
The fish and pollo asado were delicious! Very reasonably priced as well, good, friendly service. Near downtown.
Consistent quality and care in well-cooked, fresh food. Excellent service. A favourite place to eat in Davis!
My impression of David is that it is the "fast food" capital, but I want tasty food that seems like a decent homecooked meal. If you want to find a place with tasty, well prepared food and a nice, comfortable atmosphere, with resonable prices, you...want to check this one out. Most of the entrees seem to be seafood-related, although there is something for everyone. Very attentive waiters, and some speak enough English to help youu understand what you are ordering, in case that is a problem. The chicken soup is really good, Sopapollo. I took a white fish dinner, which was covered with their house white sauce, ala Fogon. Also, really good. Of the various reasonably priced restaurants I have visited, this one is a favorite. Also, this is a place you won't be disappointed with if you want to entertain some guests.More
This was my second trip to this restaurant, and I was happy with the food. Service could have been a little quicker, but that always happens when you are hungry. I had the fried fish and it was very good. Will go back again for...sure. While in David I would say give this place a try.More
We had a great dinner with family. Tasty dinner with seafood. Great customer service. Possibly the best restaurant for seafood in David.
Visit with family. Food and service good. No complaints. Wish the burger not so well done but over all service was good.
This vacation we went 5 times to El Fogon from november to april. My mother in law likes the sancocho, so do we. However I cannot recommend entraña. For the USD 16.00 they ask, one could expect the meat cooked as one asks for. However...they serve it completely cooked and hard. My wife had to give it back. My meat was ok but not outstanding. I recommend to take the cheaper and more local dishes. Sancocho I can really recommend. Once on a sunday we ordered the sancocho by phone, when I arrived it was ready and even packed into a box.More
You know, there is a reason that you do not see hardly any Panamanian restaurants in the USA...the food is eh...BUT this restaurant elevates it to new levels! Cute space inside with mom & pop running it/working it and I think the son is behind...the bar making a mean Piña colada. My husband had shrimp in garlic sauce and I had the fish-of-the-day in garlic sauce and both were very flavorful! The menu was almost too big, but we wanted to focus on seafood and we were not disappointed.More
My mother was raised in David. She always tells me about two things: the food and the heat. This time I went with my family and she had gone two months before. She called me and strongly recommended El Fogon. She knew the owner from...when they were in school back in the day. I told my aunt in David, and she agreed, telling me it was very good. When we got there the menu was very extensive and very well laid out. There was way too much to just order one thing. I ordered ceviche and roasted chicken with yuca and a Balboa. My son, the foodie he is, ordered patacones and arroz blanco. The service as excellent as we were never having to wait for even an extra napkin. The food was very good. I was so impressed with their food that I returned the very next night with my aunt and cousin. If you are in David, and you want some really good Panamenian food...go to El FogonMore
Stopped for lunch. The burger was good. Partner had the shrimp ceviche. The service was Ok. Will go back for dinner sometime. Nice atmosphere.
I was bold an asked them to cook mushrooms with garlic and olive oil. Also accompanied by steamed potatoes cooked in the same manner. This was not in the menu as a dish. I asked and they made it for me. I also ordered a...green salad which was a pretty good size. I appreciate them tremendously for accommodating me. The rest of our family who is non-vegan had the shrimp stuffed patacones, sancocho(chicken soup) and bistec picado (chopped steak). I had a natural lemonade and others had Panamanian beer Balboa. The restaurant itself is really nice and air conditioned. It has tables for large groups, a private room and outdoor patio as well. There is parking right out front.More
I have been a few times to el Fogon. It is a family place and also a place to go with friends. The food is very good, patacones are great and beer is always cold. Definitelly a recomended place for family and or firends.
