It is an ethnic Chinese seafood restaurant with different section for non-pork eating customers. The order is taken at seafood stalls near entrance before taking seats. With Chinese speaking order-taker's assistance, we can understand the seafood and the price and questions such as whether there is eggs inside the crab husk. We ordered a kind of pawn, crab, clam & etc. Food was cooked in local way that means a bit spicy, but it is acceptable and tastes good the freshness is remarkable. If we have more people and ordering more different seafood, it can be a real feast.

Kota Kinabalu is known for relatively cheap seafood dining. Welcome restaurant is known for its seafood dishes. Service is fast and systematic, waiters efficient and attentive. This restaurant have seen customers by the loads so they know how to serve their customers well. Will visit again.

Fresh seafood, full of tourists, but sadly the staff there do not know how to cook it properly. I had lobster, soft shell crab and some greens but the lobster was so overcooked and chewy. Staff struggle to speak English. The place is just full of Chinese tourists.

Went at night during peak dinner hour. The seat was full. Luckily there’s one for us after 5 minutes waiting while we make our order. The service was quick, seafood was fresh the taste was up to my standard. The price was okay but better if more than 2 persons. I asked for the smallest seabass cost us rm45 and the butter prawn was rm21. Big portion for only two of us. I would come again if i have a chance.

Although the ambience is quite simple and you may have to wait in a queue to get a table at night when it is very busy, the seafood makes it all worth it. We initially went for lunch, to try and avoid the queue. We selected crabs cooked to our choice of sauces and spices. It was delicious - finger licking good. We then decided to go back for dinner and had chilli prawns which was equally good if not better. Highly recommend the place for great seafood.

This is our usual seafood go to restaurant. Now that the tourists are reduced, all the more you should visit. Easy to get seats but as expected the food come out almost immediately after the order. Seafood is fresh and price reasonable. The cooking is always tasty. Try the steamed prawn, fish, and salted egg crab.

There are several Welcome seafood restaurant which a whole streched has several shops at kompleks Asia City. Though same owner but different different cook and has more choices of live seafood to select. So walk the full strech first to have a look before sitting down. Prices are not much different between each shop. The price is rather on the upper end but is fresh and the cook and taste is good. You can check the weight of each seafood before cook, so no concern on overprice or short changed. We like the soft shell crab and the sashimi lobster. We spent 2 meals there. Do highly recommend this restaurant for live seafood. Is opened for lunch and dinner. May need reservation for dinner over weekends where is really crowded.

Friendly service by the crew. Menu was clear and order taking was swift and easy. Clean tanks of fresh seafood gives the vibe like a seafood market. Cooked seafood tastes firm and fresh. Pricing is based on seafood availability and weight. Tried prawns, soft shell crab, steam fish, sea snails, chilli shells, prawn mantis and geoduck. Taste good with signature cooking style/sauce. Highly recommend the seafood meehoon with fish sauce. Will repeat when I return to Kota Kinabalu.

Was recommended to Welcome Seafood - why? Probably because it is the biggest with several areas along the ground floor of a Mall. The food is ok, nothing more and it is quite expensive for what you get. Lots of tour groups go there, so it is noisy as well. There are many better seafood places in KK, the wet market at the seafront is a good example of abundant choice where the cooking is done for you and brought to your table in the eating area

After two nights at the seafood market, we were ready for a change of pace. Welcome Seafood came up on several blogs and the staff at our hotel recommended it as well. The place is huge but well organized - you order first, then are taken to a table. The food was good and inexpensive.

The reason I give 3 stars because when you order your food, you have to know what you want. If you ask for a recommendation they will just randomly shout out the food. Although you don't know what to eat, you can look around other people's tables and try to order the same. Not bad just very crowded. You have be warn.

Ate at Welcome seafood at AsiaCity almost every lunch and dinner. Live fresh seafood in water tanks for the picking with price/kg displayed. Very good quality cooking and reasonable prices. Beware suggestions to buy the very expensive fish variety (eg hump head wrasse at RM 380/kg) … check prices before ordering. There is a whole stretch of shop houses that belong to the same restaurant. At least 4 different sets of fish tanks. Strangely they do not share the live seafood. So you might have crabs at one but not the other. See what is available before deciding where to sit and order. Service is fast but could be better. If service was improved I would give 5 stars

We had an Al-Fresco dining experience at Welcome Seafood. The place is clean and well managed despite its crowded and full of waiting customers. We got a recommendation from a local to try their Steamed Tilapia in special sauce which is good. We also had a crab in Kam Heong sauce, chili scallops, steamed sea snails and their baby kailan fried in garlic. The total bill came out to be RM123.70!

Seaching for a good dinner for seafood, everyone suggested Welcome seafood, when arrived to the place, the staff keeping hurrying ask you to take order and don't tell you the price, you have to ask them What's the price for, is it per Kilo or grams. when you ask for the price they like not happy to tell you the price what. Outcome, the fish was steamover. The Tiger Prwan also overcooked, and the sauce was too sweet. Will not suggest for others to visit. Beware and make sure you watch them to weigh the seafood.

Once we reached Kota Kinabalu on our 4 hours road trip, the first stop we made was at this restaurant. We thought we would be having a good meal but we were sadly mistaken. The waitress was showing some attitude during our orders. The place is really filthy as you can see many hand prints on tables and doors, oily table and food crumbs on the floor. Barely any customers as it was only 4pm+ and the workers don't even bother to clean up the place. There were so many flies so we were eating and worrying about the flies that would land on our food. It was rather unpleasant. The portion of the food that was served are not worth the price. Our chili crab doesn't taste like chili crab. Its so salty. They also don't provide hand wash so I washed my hands without it after eating crab. It was so oily and I felt really disturbed. Never coming back to this place again!
