The staff were so friendly and helpful! They were thoughtful in preparing and setting up a lovely delicious breakfast for each guest. They shared their knowledge about the area and tips. The room was clean and rustic with a nice breeze blowing through it. The...decoration was homey and Tanzanian style. The gardens with fruit trees were beautiful. We will miss the freshly squeezed fruit juice every morning!More

We stayed at Christina House for one night and decided to have dinner there. We had a wonderful experience! There was no menu and they served us the meal of the day (after asking if we had allergies, etc.). The food was delicious! We first...had a soup, then 3 meals served in large bowls (see photo) and a fruit of the season for dessert. The food was very tasty (kudos to the cook), the service was great and we had more than enough food for the 2 of us. I highly recommend Christina House's restaurant and you can reserve a table even though you don't stay at the hotel!More

We stayed at Christina House coming and going from our safari. The staff was extremely accommodating and the rooms were very comfortable. The property is charming and impeccably clean, located just off the main street but not so far that you don't experience the vibe...of the community. Helen provided very tasty family style meals, and Jonas looked after us like family. Christina, the owner, works tirelessly to improve the lives of others, having established Women's Hope of Tanzania Co-op in the community. Her entire staff reflects her genuine care for others and the warmth of the Tanzanian people. Asante sana!More

So far the best place to get a taste of African food in Arusha. Once again , i had a chance to enjoy Christina's food...i mean i did not only eat, i got into the kitchen and learned, Mama Rose and Helen are the best...teachers. On my visit the other time, i was fascinated by the service, people and food so i thought i wanted to live it, and be part of it. What i learned from Christina House is ; there is a maximum maintenance of food safety. If for any reason you want to get an authentic African cuisine experience in Arusha, i recommend Christina House. PS: Christina House Team if you are reading this , thank you so much, see you again..of course!More

On our stay at Christina House before and after safari, the restaurant offered a unique charm! The restaurant itself is amazingly designed. Every food that we took from here was just amazing to us. I personally loved the tasty tropical fruits in every breakfast and after...every meal, the soup,.....pumpkin, tomato, cucumber, and carrot, served with a style, hot and in time. Moreover, everyone from Christina house team is friendly and interactive. Such a remarkable place!More

Our group of five stayed two night prior to going on safari and one night on return. The surroundings were lush and beautiful, the accommodations clean and very comfortable. A big plus for Christina House is the staff--including Christina, Rose and everyone involved. All were...friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious. If you are going to be in Arusha, look no farther for a place to stay! Highly recommended.More

My mum and I slept here for the first and last day of our stay (before and after a safari organised by Bright Safaris, Tanzania) and we were immediately made to feel welcome and at home. It is a cozy, comfortable and clean establishment employing...local ladies. Upon arrival there was no electricity to have a hot shower, being a common occurrence due to the national grid. Hot water was quickly brought to our room by a friendly young lady named Yunis. After refreshing ourselves, we went to the dining room which was built and furnished in heavy wood and we had a delicious vegetarian (our choice) dinner made from local produce, cooked by Rosie. Christina, the owner, introduced herself and told us the history of how she acquired her establishment that promotes the advancement of women in the local community. We returned to Christina House for our last night before departure. This time there was no problem with the electricity. We were able to keep the room until our driver came to collect us in the late afternoon to take us to the airport. As we had time before our departure, we chose a Coffee Tour of a local plantation which Christina set up for us. The guide, Mr Okuly, taught us the process and history of coffee and also the local culture. We were taken on a tour of the plantation and his home where we learnt how resourceful they are. Nothing goes to waste. We were especially honoured to meet Mr Okuly's father who had worked in the Coffee Co-operative. Back at Christina House Mr Okuly roasted the coffee beans and together we drank coffee. A fitting end to a truly enjoyable day and trip.More

We stayed 2 nights at Christina house. It is a very lovely place, staff are very friendly. Christina is also very friendly and handy. We didn't have electricity when we arrived so no showers which was a bit annoying yet some hot water was prepared...for us which was very handy. Food was very nice, the room was clean and tidy. We had dinner here and there was a major power cut, Christina welcomed us at the main road lighting the path. She cooked a superb zucchini soup, pilau, vegetables and chapatti (no choice of menu) and we were the only guests. the light came on...towards the end. Desert was an unpeeled banana on a plate and we got a very nice masala tea. Ambiance below our expectation (we hoped for something with more character - even much more basic), the price as too high for what it was (they tried for $12 after saying it would be $10). It is difficult to find Tanzanian food in Arusha so I's really like to support this place but the setting doesn't quite do it for me. It's near the main road so can be quite noisy and it is significantly less romantic without power cut :). Could be a good place to offer cooking classes.More
