When I was informed we were going out for supper, first reaction was,oh oh,another hole in the wall with rice wrapped in paper and plastic bags dripping with sauce and a timely piece of indistinguishable chicken which I was starting to get used to.
Or, perhaps we were going to some sort of fun lively place on the beach with grilled this or that , or maybe even yummy big burgers
Well, I changed my thinking as I walked into a slick clean restaurant with staff who just seemed to float by without any noise.and , it had tablecloths , so I knew this was going to be a bit more slick.
We were offered a drink menu, as well as being presented with a blackboard of specials for the night.
Then the menu.
Plenty of nice choices.
I won’t go through the whole bit of who had what etc.
Everyone loved their food, but the pride and presentation of each different meal was spectacular.the portions are a bit on the small side, but everything here was about the elegance of the presentation. The flavours were great as well, and a nice presentation of a small wrapped tuna with eggplant roll, and cutest small loaves of warm bread for two with a garlic spread just before the meal.
A choice of sitting in a glassed in air conditioned room or outside was available.
So far this was my wife’s favourite restaurant in Bali
This is not a place to go if you are in a hurry

Small portions but really delicious food. Staff are kind and vegan / vegetarian options can be made from some of the dishes. Go around 6-7 pm, not to crowded. Small terrace or aircon seats available.

Returning to Bali after three years away, we were delighted to find that this excellent restaurant reopened last November and is just as good as ever.
The only difference is the minor name change from Kayu Manis to Kayo Manis. This is to avoid confusing the restaurant with another beachfront eatery in Sanur, so don’t make that mistake.
Kayo Manis is located on a side street near the Sindu Markets. It is an elegant, contemporary space serving simply exquisite Indonesian food with a creative European twist at exceptionally reasonable prices. The interesting menu is supplemented by daily specials and every dish is presented beautifully by friendly, attentive staff. Additional complimentary dishes such as the amuse bouche, in-house baked loaf and palate cleanser add welcome touches to the meal.
We have dined at Kayo Manis several times on previous trips to Bali and have always been impressed with the quality and standard of the food, the service and the ambience. This is fine dining at an affordable price.
If you love good food and you are in Sanur, an evening at Kayo Manis is not to be missed.

Tucked away from the main streets of Sanur down Jl. Tandakan, Sindu is Kayo Manis, a real gem of a restaurant. An inviting pared back interior, you can choose to dine alfresco or in the air conditioned dining room. Kayo Manis is spotlessly clean and staffed by the most welcoming and friendly staff. We were surprised with complimentary appetiser, warm herbed bread and a delicious and refreshing sorbet to finish. We were both impressed by our entrée and mains- great flavours, good quality and just right portions all for a very reasonable price. Thank you to the talented chef, Bagus Gede Widiartha, and the lovely staff for a wonderful evening. Highly recommend you try Kayo Manis – you won’t be disappointed.

After doing some homework looking for restaurants in Sanur we read the Trip Advisor reviews and decided to try Kayo Manis for ourselves. My wife and I went to celebrate Christmas eve 2023, and took an expensive bottle of champagne to compliment the meal (corkage is only $5 AUD per bottle). We found the food absolutely delicious!
I had the Australian Beef tenderloin (best I've ever eaten) and my wife had the salmon (to die for). We can't praise the food highly enough and would recommend everyone go for some fine dining at very reasonable prices.
We loved the food so much we decided to come back Christmas night and again it was an outstanding dining experience. We had already eaten across the street at Mimpi Manis (same owner) two nights before and the food was also delicious.
The chef personally asks "how was your meal?" and was very appreciative of our patronage to both restaurants.
Hands down, one of the best places to eat in Bali, a real find.
Hi praise to all the staff at both restaurants.
We'll be back next trip!

It was great to return to KayOmanis (note the subtle name change after another restaurant on the beach stole theirs) after it closed during covid.
The meal began with a complimentary amuse bouche of fish cake with tomato and parmesan, followed by a delicate black peppered beef carapaccio, accompanied by complimentary bread with black pepper butter. The main course of chili prawn spaghetti was perfectly al dente and flavoursome. The other main of seafood skewer was outstanding. Prawn, squid, tomato and gindara (succulent) on a bed of risotto with mushrooms, eggplant, shallots and chili. The meal was beautifully finished with another complimentary dish -a lemon sorbet with crumble and fruit compote.
We have eaten here many times over the years and have been amazed by the consistent, innovative, high quality food and excellent, friendly service at a very reasonable price.

Kayo Manis certainly lived up to its positive reviews.
We both ordered the entree special of prawns on cheese sauce and the balance of flavours was perfect although I would happily have eaten more prawns.
We were given a small taster that was great and complimentary bread. The chicken dish was great as was my barramundi with a delicious sauce.
The free lemon sorbet ate the end was refreshing,
Service was very professional.
We were surprised that Kayo Manis was very quiet the night we dined there as the food is so good and the prices are very reasonable.

This used to be one of my favourite places to eat in Sanur but unfortunately times have changed. Had dinner here last night and very disappointed, I had tuna carpaccio and duck breast, tuna was clearly frozen , still cold/frozen watery and tasteless. Duck breast tough and I couldn’t eat. Hubby had surf and turf which he enjoyed. Rice paper rolls also for starter which were fine. Small loaf of bread complimentary which was very nice. Wait staff lovely, restaurant almost empty and unfortunately I can see why. I hope it was an off night but I am not prepared to try again.

We booked dinner on line, response was quick and welcoming. We cannot fault the staff service and meal. Staff were so efficient and polite with good knowledge of the menu. We ended up with starter main and squeezed in a desert as we were so comfortable in the surrounding a and we were not hurried. The meal was equal to any 5 star dining restaurants we have attended. We received a complimentary vegetable spring roll and most delicious warm herb bread. There is dining in both outside and air-conditioned areas. With all we had including 3 cocktails the meal was still only around $80Aud.

We have been to this restaurant several times and it is consistently excellent. The food is delicious and of high standard, and the service always friendly and professional. Pricing is also very reasonable considering the quality of the food.
This restaurant is a must when in Sanur.
Please note, this is in a back street of Sanur and is not the Kayu Manis on the beachfront.

Kayo Manis has been one of the highest rated restaurants in Sanur for a long time and deservedly so.
You just know you're in for a great night out when you're greeted by the manager, wait staff, and all of the kitchen staff as you walk to your table.
Service is impeccable as is the decor in the main area of the restaurant. My only gripe with Kayo Manis would be that same attention to detail is lacking in the decor of the air-conditioned dining room at the rear.
The food is wonderful. We were delightfully surprised by a complimentary amuse bouche fish cake plus 2 x small foccacia for the table. Our entree consisted of soups being the pumpkin soup, potato and leek, and a seafood soup. Mains was beef tenderloin, barramundi, pork loin, and a spag bol for a fussy eater. Spag bol backfired on us somewhat as it is not a spag bol in the traditional sense but rather pasta, herbs, and small pieces of tomato in a clear sauce. I thought it tasted lovely but maybe won't suited those with fussy palettes. The food overall was high quality, well presented, and very tasty. Oh...and there was a complimentary lemon sorbet provided to round out our meal.
Pricing is well above average for Sanur but the extras make it all worthwhile.
Definitely recommended by us as being worth a visit!

I know the restaurant for 15 years. It has been always great to eat there. The service is soooo friendly and welcoming. The owner comes to the table to greet you and the dishes are prepared like you would sit in a simple 1 star Michelin Restaurant. The best of all is the bill. Unbelievably small for what you consumed. So of course the tip should be great đź‘Ť

Having visited yesterday we learn that this restaurant reopened only at the beginning of November 2022. We therefore think that the two previous reviews relate to Kayu Manis Seaside.
Same great menu, so lovely to revisit outstanding menu choices from the past. Tenderloin presented perfectly and so tasty.
Lovely staff, what's not to like?
Great to be back and we have made another booking for later this week.

After riding out the storm of Covid, this fabulous little restaurant is up and running again.
Bagus the owner/chef and his menu are quite outstanding. Quite different to the tired, same old, same old menu’s found in the majority of restaurants in Sanur.
This is very special indeed without breaking the bank.
I cannot recommend highly enough.
The staff are very smartly attired and attentive, the decor is lovely and above all everything is scrupulously clean and hygienic.
If you enjoy lovely food beautifully presented
you’re going to love this little gem. An absolute
“don’t miss” when in Sanur.
Do yourself a favour and seek out
Kayo Manis, Jalan Tandakan number 6 Sindu - Sanur.
Telephone 087 776 702 921.
I have every confidence you will not be disappointed.
In fact I have every confidence you will love it.
ENJOY.

I visited "pre-covid" and was so impressed. Then, in March 2022 I was soooooo disappointed to find them closed. Then I was joyously surprised that they were again open in 2023.
So they are locally owned and run. The chef/owner is preparing great food and the service is friendly and keen.
So you are having 5* dining at mid-range prices. Even the wine is reasonably priced.
Kayo Manis is a must-do.
