This is a feature lobby bar at the Sofitel in Siem Reap. We stopped by a couple times during our recent stay at the hotel and enjoyed our rounds of drinks here. The bar is open from from 11am to 11pm daily. The Explorer's Tales bar has an old-world explorer theme and is nicely decorated. Service is polite, friendly and very attentive. You can order from a wide range of cocktails, spirits, beer and wine as well as a handful of bar snacks as well as mains prepared in the hotel's Citadel restaurant kitchen. During our visits we tried several cocktails including Manhattan, Old-fashioned and White Russian, finding them all mixed to the standard one expects of Sofitel bars. Bar snacks of jack fruit chips, salted peanuts with chilli and dried mangos were very good as well. Less enjoyed were the dishes ordered that came from the Citadel Restaurant that were served up at the Explorer's Tales Bar. We tried the Fresh Spring Rolls and Papaya Salad with smoked fish. While attractive in appearance, both dishes were less vibrant in flavour compared to what we found at other restaurants around Siem Reap. Would take a pass next time and just stick with drinks and bar snacks directly from the bar. Overall, we were quite happy with our experiences at the Explorer's Tales Bar at Sofitel and would gladly pass by again during stays at the Sofitel property in Siem Reap.

Lovely bar with great service. From long time server. Nice spot to relax after a hot day at the Temples. Food is very good. I enjoyed the French onion soup this time with wine. I return every year to this special hotel because of wonderful staff and grounds.

Located in the upscale Sofitel hotel, the colonial style lounge bar serves excellent drinks and snacks. If you would like to relax after a hard day exploring the temples, they also have live music in the evenings. Staff is friendly, ambience is relaxing and service is excellent.

Love the elegant and classical furniture and explorer-theme decor. Came here for welcome drinks - Khmer Chilli Martini & Virgin Mojito. There is live performance in the evening from 6pm. Tapas and food menu are also available but no Accor Plus dining benefit here.

We were staying at the Sofitel Hotel & dropped into the Explorers Tales Bar numerous times for pre dinner drinks , coffee & snacks. It’s located just in the lobby of the hotel. It’s a great place to sit & relax . The staff are also very attentive and friendly offering excellent service.

The bar is located just off the lobby. It is a great place to sit and relax after a day of touring or for a before dinner drink. It offers tea and cakes from 3 to 5pm. The bar staff are very attentive to your needs and peanuts and banana chips are supplied with your drinks. They have seating for 2 & 4 people, and an area with a lounge bench seat for a larger group. A great place to relax

The bar has a nice relaxing atmosphere. The specialty cocktails are fabulous, nice and refreshing. The spring rolls and hamburgers are well prepared and really good. Really enjoyed the guitar player.

Staying at the Sofitel, we like to explore the hotel's bars and restaurants. This bar serves beer, wine & cocktails. They have a good cocktail list which I'm sure most will enjoy. The bar looks out onto a undercover courtyard and the lake. There is seating outside which is lovely on a nice warm night. There are plenty of tables and comfortable chairs to sit yourself down. The waiting staff offer a drinks menu, bring your drinks promptly and deliver nuts/ snack to go with your drinks. One night we ate dinner here, more of a lighter meal. We had calamari to share and a burger. There were many people eating here and it is a popular spot for a pre dinner drink or a night cap. The bar itself is a lovely room, decorated very nicely and it has a lovely ambience. Music in the background or a person paying the piano.

A lovely bar with tasty cocktails and good food. Very professional waitors and bar keepers. And supervisors. Very well established. Also a fine view out of the window. The bar is connected to the lobby parlor. The planning then did in the last millennium on this subject all over the buildings, with that certain style and all: exquisite, Mesdames Et Messieurs. 😀 ❤️

We enjoyed a glass of wine in the evening and some appetizers one afternoon when we just needed something light to eat. All were tasty while listening to the pianist and enjoying the beautiful grounds from the cozy seating.

The cosy bar has a pianist playing at certain time. The drinks were fantastic (not the diluted ones at Pub St) and cute little yummy tidbits were provided. We stepped in about 15 mins to close and they welcomed us. Did not feel rushed but we did finish on time. The views are as in the photos. Lovely ambience.

We were staying at the hotel and the Explorer's Tales bar was good for some light food, one evening (which was surprisingly good), as well as pre-dinner drinks with some nice cocktails. There is live piano at times.

Although we were not staying at the Sofitel, we stopped into this lovely bar for lunch when were were checking out the grounds (which are very beautiful, mind you). We imagine that this imaginative bar is great at night, but they make a fine sandwich and beer for lunch, so we had a thoroughly grand time of it. Thanks also to the attentive staff, we will be back when we are in town again.

I was staying at the Sofitel for three days and two nights while in Cambodia and I ate at this restaurant as I wanted to avoid members of my travelling group and know they would not find this restaurant. It is off the lobby and looks more like a bar which it is in the evenings. I found a great little gem of restaurant that served excellent food and wonderful service. The waiter who served me both days for lunch could not have been nicer and her service was friendly and very welcoming. She really knew her hospitality. I think she was also fascinated by the fact that I was American. I had a hamburger and fries one day and a club sandwich the next with French fries and both times the food was presented beautifully and looked colorful and tasted great. The food was so well cooked and the ingredients you could tell were top quality. The burgers were full of flavor as if they grounded their own meat. When I went for a drink and dessert my first night, I found out that the desserts after a certain time of the evening are fifty percent off and trust me, I ran down for that. They were sweet and delicious. I had an éclair the first night that was so sweet and so good. This little gem should not be missed when staying at the hotel and is a nice alternative to the main dining room. It is more cozy and laid back and the service is very personable.
