After a warm walk in Casco Viejo and its narrow streets, I was ready to try this restaurant recommended by a friend that visited Panama many years ago. Sadly, the restaurant is gone, and when I ask the locals they just said: gone with the...Covid. I hope it was just the result of the lockdown they told me Panama had in Covid and not a personal loss to the owners. I marked 5 based on what friends told me, but I was not able to try their restaurant.More
We came in for the short menu, but after trying the salad and appetizer, we changed our plans and went with the long menu. All the food was delicious. The short menu was $10.50, and the long menu is $25 per person. If you have...the time to have the longer menu, we definitely recommend it. My husband and I are very glad we went to Rene Cafe, overall a great experience. (I would have taken more photos of the food but the plates were so irresistible I would forget to take pictures!)More
We were visiting the old city (Casco Veijo) and decided to stop at this quaint restaurant for lunch. The "short" menu included bread, salad, some type of appetizer that seemed to have eggs and vegetables in almost like a quiche, delicious yellow rice, and our...choice of meat. My husband chose chicken, I chose fish. All of this deliciousness was followed by fresh fruit for dessert. This was a LOT of food, very reasonably priced.More
It’s truly a hidden gem . Right next to the plaza cátedral. The food is delicious and the service is great. The servers are friendly and good portions are given. Meal came with bread, salad, rice, meat/fish, and a dessert.
My favorite coffee/sangria in all that I’ve experienced in Panamá! Friendly service, very attentive and helpful, smiling faces all around - with a quaint and endlessly charming ambiance. Love love love. I recommend anything from the cafè, café con ron, sangria, o mango wontons .......Cafés like this make a person want to relocate.More
Quaint little cafe for coffee & select liquor. Very pleasant & attentive service. Located on a central square in Casco Veijo
Our hotel suggested this as a dinner option, and we’re so glad they did. Cozy, sweet ambience and friendly service. We chose a long tapas menu (like a tasting menu) that included dishes such as spring rolls, octopus skewers, fish with Thai rice and a...tres leches cake that is to die for. Apparently the owners have been cooking here for 20 Years and it shows. Totally recommend!More
Solid lunch including delicious garlic bread, salad, tortilla, fried rice, fresh fish (chicken and pork are also standard options) AND a lovely little dessert. Service was impeccable and the price was right!! It’s a great local spot!
We used Trio Advisor for our first lunch in Panama and were not disappointed. Quiet on Friday but food very fresh and obviously cooked by the family. We were made welcome and not too expensive. I loved the colander lampshades in the kitchen!
Everything was just amazing!! prepared with love a little hidden gem, feels like a home kitchen and unique flavors also the service was outstanding and attentive definitely 5🏅
This small eatery in the heart of a tourist area is a fresh change to normal higher-priced area restaurants. The food on the limited menu was great and more than we could eat. I would highly recommend lunch or dinner here.
We spotted this place as we drove by our hotel and stopped in without checking reviews as we usually do. It was a delightful experience. The fixed-price menu was Thai influenced with Thai salad, mango won tons and fried rice. We had fish and chicken...as our protein. Both were simply prepared and delicious. There was a small piece of cake for dessert. We are not big dessert people but the cake was just a couple of bites so we obligingly ate. (Ha) . the service was friendly. The atmosphere is bright from the large windows and very low key. All for less than $30, including 10 per cent tip. We plan to check it out for dinner one night.More
My family is from Panama and I travel there often, particularly since my parents moved back there a few years ago. I find everything in this area either trendy and expensive (which is great sometimes!) or weird hybrid American food (we have BBQ wings! And...hamburgers!). I was with a group of 7 looking for something delicious and low key. When we walked in I immediately remembered this place from when I was younger and loving it! We opted for the fixed menu, where everyone picks a protein for their main and the other courses are served family style. You can order the shorter “lunch” option at any time and we got bread, salad, appetizer, rice, main, and dessert with that option in the evening. Everything was lovely and delicious. We also got a carafe if sangria, which was way bigger than you normally get and was delicious. One of my friends is lactose-allergic, and they happily accommodated that by provided different appetizer and dessert dishes for her, which were just as tasty. They served the perfect amount for the number of guests and everyone left full and happy. It was an awesome experience and I will definitely be back here many times—so glad I rediscovered this place.More
We had lunch there with a group. It was excellent. The food was flavored well (an exception for Panama). Wanted to try it for dinner, but ran out of time
