Fenwick Pier, the building which houses this wonderful restaurant, is due to be knocked down relatively soon so make sure to visit ASAP! The food is superb, truly fantastic in fact. Great beef carpaccio starter and my veal ragu main was utterly, utterly delicious. Lovely...desserts too, and I’m normally not that fussed with pudding. My partner’s ravioli, and our friends’ pizza and spaghetti dishes were also very much enjoyed. The complementary bread, oil and balsamic vinegar was also appreciated. Service was mostly excellent and the space is unexpectedly impressive with good views as well. Plus a receipt from here gives you a discount at the amazingly stocked Italian deli below. As I said, visit while you can!More

The Italian food here is really excellent. Admittedly the location is a bit off-putting and it’s too far off the beaten track to recommend to tourists but we will certainly go back again. It’s hidden away upstairs inside the old, neglected Fenwick Pier, which let’s...face it, has seen better days. However if you overlook the shabby exterior of the building, the restaurant itself is completely different and is both spacious and lovely, with Italian styled décor and white tablecloths. A total transformation. The other big drawcard for me is that there is a fabulous Italian food store & fresh market downstairs. This alone makes it worth coming out of my way. FOOD: As soon as we were seated, they brought complimentary breads with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - a nice touch and the breads tasted lovely and fresh. We started with the beetroot salad with truffle dressing and the grilled scamorza cheese with speck and roasted peppers. Both were very good and the portions were large enough that we could each have a taste of the other’s. We had the sole fillet and the veal and mixed mushroom fettucine for mains. The fettucine was creamy and rich and although I enjoyed it, it was a little too heavy so that I could not finish it all. We ordered the lunch set menu which was good value (starts at $198HKD pp). However be aware that you will probably end up spending more because there is an extra charge for several of the starters and 6 of the 8 main dishes also had an added cost (mostly $28). SERVICE: This was excellent from start to finish. The waiter was attentive, making sure our glasses were filled and checking that we had enjoyed each course (which we had). COVID NOTE: The area was very spacious and tables were widely spaced. GETTING THERE: From Central, we walked along the new harbour-side promenade which is the best new addition to the city. This took us most of the way there and was probably a 10 – 15 minute walk, mostly along the waterfront.More

Fantastic venue. Great business set lunch. This is visit 10 for me here. It’s always so good. Located inside what appears to be a shabby old building in the middle of HKs land reclaiming project sits Gia. Simply great Italian food done well. Top pick...is the Parma ham and melon salad. Unpromising quality of ham means this is a winner. Highly recommend you book and visit. Table seating has a nice mixture of arrangements which are perfect for business lunches. Private and tasteful atmosphere, yet not over the top fussy, and the bill will even keep the company accountants smiling.More

A very rustic atmosphere, which is unusual for a modern city like HK, excellent service and great wine. The appetisers, mains and deserts are all very good. One of my favourite places. Great work!

As you enter the dingy looking Servicemen’s Club, you take the elevator to the first floor and step off into a really nice and airy Italian restaurant. The decor is inviting and upmarket without being stuffy. We began the set lunch (around $190 a person)...with a plate of complimentary breads, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. All were excellent and I was excited to see what the rest of the meal would bring. For our appetizers we enjoyed the scrambled eggs and sausage, and the minestrone soup. They were good but not great. The minestrone was packed with a variety of vegetables but somehow lacked flavor and I found myself reaching for the pepper to try and add some taste. For our mains we had the gnocchi with tomato sauce and burrata, and the rigatoni pasta with spicy sausage. The pasta was cooked to perfection in both dishes and the gnocchi was unbelievably soft and pillowy but unfortunately let down by the lack of flavor in the sauce. The rigatoni was excellent. We added a dessert to the set lunch for $48. All told, with a bottle of still water, our check came to around $450. Good for a nice lunch in Hong Kong but I’m not sure I’d pay the dinner prices for these dishes. The view is pleasant, though if you aren’t taller than 5 foot 5 inches or so you won’t be able to see it and enjoy it and as you’ll be staring at the silver metal window frame or the construction looking parking area outside. The service was friendly and kind attentive when asked but we had to keep asking for everything. We asked for the pepper, we asked to have our plates cleared and a to go box, we asked for the check after waiting quite a while, we refilled our own water several times. These things weren’t a big problem per se but if I were to rate this restaurant five stars it would need to offer more attentive service. This restaurant is well suited for business lunches, dates, and an evening with friends if you are looking for a nice atmosphere and large tables/space.More

Very good food and service. Business set lunch for four of us today. Don’t be put off by the outside of the bulging. While the old Fleet Arcade building looks like a run down shanty, inside it’s a comfy restaurant with white linen table clothes...and a genuine Italian vibe. The tables are a good size. Not too small but perfect for a business discussion over lunch. The food also perfect. Too tip, book a table by the window and have the procuttio ham and melon starter! Yesterday I had the black truffle pasta, also perfect.More

As like any other visit in the past at Gia -our food was delicious, tasty, the aroma of fresh, good quality ingredients - and they know how to cook authentic, tasty Italian fare. The Pasta dishes are my favorites. Had a seafood Paccheri with tomato...sauce and herbs, you can taste the individual ingredients, the various clean taste seafood morsels and the sauce... an essence of fresh seafood makes your taste buds jump. And always perfectly cooked al dente Pasta. The appetizers are also superb and of great variety on the daily set lunch. Again best Italian ingredients are used, Parma ham, 24 months, perfect thin cut. Mozzarella - or Burrata , always the best. And then, the value for money for the set lunch is unbeatable, for 188.- for a sumptuous appetizer and generous main course portion. But my main reason to get back to Gia, again and again, is the great quality, the superb tastes, of la vera Cucina Italiana. I am amazed at how you always serve up continuously, this highest standards/quality. Gia also took on another restaurant manager to make the team more complete. We had outstanding service. And we had a superb wine by the glass, a quality that is rarely served in a restaurant by the glass, a top Barbera, full-body, a real delight together with the food. (at a price that I am happy to pay, for such quality. The restaurant was full at 1pm, which is also another good sign, that the slightly "off the road" location is much worthwhile, and definitely no problem for food lovers to make this extra few minutes walk.More

I covered the food and drink industry in Hong Kong and this has always been one of my favorites. The food here is authentic and amazing, the service is stellar, the wine list is extensive (and delicious!) and although it's off the beaten path, the...views are beautiful, especially at night. For a #treatyoself type of dinner, please go here. And save room for dessert because we ordered three and each one was better than the other!More
