About
Tartes & Pop® is the very first French tarts specialized shop in Hong Kong. Lou Campagna and his best friend, Thibaut Carminho, established Tartes & Pop® in 2014 when they realized that it was actually difficult to find a good French tarte in Hong Kong. The two friends dreamed of a new kind of pastry shop where amazing quality would not have to follow the cold and impersonal rules of luxury. They spent more than a year to come up with what is, in their opinion, the ultimate good-mood boosting combo: funky music, friendly staff and finger-licking good tarts. Lou built his reputation as a pastry chef from 8 years working for the very famous chocolate company Valrhona, all around Asia. During this time, he had the chance to teach and share his knowledge with chefs from prestigious hotels such as the Ritz Carlton, the Grand Hyatt, the Mandarin Oriental, the Four Seasons, the Peninsula Hotel and many others...

Tartes & Pop is a French tart specialist on Morrison Street just across from the historic Western Market building in Sheung Wan. They offer up a small range of artisan tarts that are presentable and delicious, perfect for celebrations, gifts and those who want high quality, elegant little treats not easy to find here in Hong Kong. Opening hours are from 11am to 6.30pm daily (closed on Sundays). This little outfit offers a small selection of tarts that are beautiful and well packaged. You can buy them individually or try a handful of what is on offer. Prices are higher than what you'll usually find at local bakeries which sell tarts but you'll find the quality of ingredients and taste to be very high. We recently tried a handful of their tarts and enjoyed each. The Key Lim tart is a nice balance of sour and slightly sweet. The Lemon Gianduja offers more citrus zest that is delicious. We found the Pineapple Coconut tart to be good and the Honey Pecan tart to be a nice change of pace for tarts and equally yummy. We'd happily reorder each of the tarts recently tried and eagerly look forward to trying others they offer in the near future.

Have continued to enjoy the specialist tarts from Tartes & Pop on Morrison Street in Sheung Wan. We probably make purchases here once a month and always enjoy the delicate, presentable and nice flavour tarts they bake in small quantities each day. Opening hours are 11am to 6.30pm daily but best to pass by earlier in the day as they regularly sell out and have fewer tarts available by late in the afternoon. So go early so that you can pick from all varieties on offer. If you want a large scale purchase, you can order in advance and arrange pick up. Basically, all of the tarts are very good at Tartes & Pop. They are also packaged well for transportation. My personal favourite is the Lemon Gianduja, Fresh Lime and Coffee Creme Brulee. These are just delicious tarts that I have a hard time not ordering. The rest are really good as well, we just enjoy them less.

Came here because I saw these pretty tarts in Sheung Wan, the shop is white contrasted by orange popart designs. Tartes and pops are a much-loved brand by music bands such as Maroon5, Imagine Dragons and possibly Madonna. The impressive thing is that they have these cute little tailor made boxes so you can just buy one and each tart fits snuggly in the box. They also have boxes of nine or sixteen for parties. Their Tart flavours change all the time so be sure to check them out. It is hard to say which one is my favourite but probably the Earl Grey.

Have made several more stops by Tartes & Pop this year to buy their beautiful, delicately made and tasty tarts. You can buy them individually, I prefer to buy in a group of four so you can have them nicely boxed for transportation. Share with your partner and eat a couple a day. We have our favourites from Tartes & Pop but they are all pretty good. They usually have 8 or 9 types on offer change out tarts from time to time, seasonal appearances like the lime tart that is back this summer. Note: Tarts are made in small quantities and once they sell out each day, they are done. Have arrived in mid afternoon on numerous occasions to find them mostly cleared out with little remaining to choose from. If you want your pick from the bunch, best to arrive by early afternoon just after lunch at the latest.

One of the best tart in Hong Kong has brought me back to this place! The shop is nearby the western market and is easy to find. There aren't many seats at the shop, only couple stools by the wall. My friends and I have selected couple of tarts for sharing, the first tart is Coffee Creme Brûlée. It looks ordinary, nonetheless the taste will blow you off!!! The owners insist to make their own tart crust, which is slightly buttery and super crunchy. Also to prevent the crust to become soggy, they have added a layer of sponge cake to absorb the liquid. Break the crispy caramlized surface and cut the tart in half, the espresso will just leak out at the bottom. The bitter coffee taste can definitely balance the sweetness, it is EXCELLENT!! Another one is Orange Earl Grey Tart, which cause I love earl grey so much haha. It seems odd to pair with orange, however the sweet and a bit sour orange can bring out the earl grey flavor. Yet the impact is not as strong as the first one~ The last one is Fresh Lime Tart, the tart crust is as good as the first one (since they are same lol). Freshly squeezed lime juice and lime peels have been added to the filling, then topped with some sort of foamy marshmallow. I love that refreshing sourness, nonetheless it is not as sour as I have expected. Perhaps is because they need to add some sugar to make the lime filling, there is a sense of sweetness aftertaste.

I have a sweet tooth. The great fondness for dessert prompts me to visit anywhere that serves sweet delights. It doesn’t matter if they are bakery chains of large corporate, six-star hotels or unknown small shops. Hotels guarantee quality while chain stores pay attention to packaging. Small businesses, however, often give me unexpected experience. I like surprises a lot. Today, I luckily encounter a pastry store owned by French people. It only sells tarts. The scale is small and the location is not easily accessible. To my surprise, the food quality is comparable to famous brand name. As far as I know, all ingredients are imported from France, except for the green tea powder which is from Japan. This selection reflects owner’s meticulousness and passion for baking. Fresh Lime Tarte The crust is crispy and has strong incense of butter. The white chocolate mousse is embellished with shredded lime peel since their tastes balance each other. Sourness of lime neutralises chocolate’s sweetness. The whole thing tastes refreshing. Sesame Matcha Tarte Green tea powder originated from Japan is especially bitter-sweet, which makes it perfect for dessert. The black sesame mousse is thick and has rich nutty hint of sesame flavour. Usually, red beans are matcha’s best friend. I can’t believe that sesame could break the tradition and match as fine. The crossover of Japanese and France culture in baking does have magic! Raspberry Chocolate Tarte Chocolate from the famous French brand Varlhona is specially chosen. No wonder the creamy and smooth mousse has such strong choco scent. The chef is so creative that he, instead of paving the surface with assorted fruits, makes raspberry into jam as fillers. The sour raspberries and chocolate mousse remix and fuse as a whole. I feel satisfied enjoying it. Pieces of tarts captive customers’ heart without fancy outlook nor package. This is not an easy accomplishment.
