Took a date there, staff was friendly and helpful, food was unique and delicious. With plenty of alcohol to keep the vibe going, it's sufficient to say it's knock out of the park recommendation

We found El Mercado on Trip Advisor and booked because of the reviews. I can't be more positive about the experience. The wonder of Hong Kong is the blending of so many cultures in so many ways. This brings a vitality and creative energy to everything. El Mercado is the perfect example, blending Peruvian and Japanese, as well as Hong... More

A great find. Some very interesting Japanese/Peruvian delicious food. Loved the Seabass Ceviche (well balanced and not too heavy on the citrus) and they do a great Peruvian Pisco Sour. The beef skewers were very tender and tasty, and the tuna tataki was delish. The place is smart but casual, staff very friendly, located in a non-descript block on the... More

Visited here for dinner on a recent business trip. Located the restaurant from tripadvisor and what a find it was! The Tuna Tataki and Hot Duck Ceviche were outstanding. And we were even tempted by the Chocolate Lava Cake to top it all off. Great food, great atmosphere.

Visited here for our wedding anniversary. Really good food and wine. We had beef stir fry and seafood rice. The beef was excellent and would have again. Was about to order dessert but they turned up with a special dessert which was excellent Lovely atmosphere and spent all up 2.5 hours here with out being rushed. Will be back for... More

My wife and I had a wonderful evening at El Mercado. Everything about this place was high quality from the moment we entered this tastefully decorated space: the drinks are excellent (loved the G&T selection), the food is fantastic and the staff are helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going again. Thank you, Julie Ann!

Ok... wow! Dropped in for a quick brunch and all I can say is wow. This place matches my taste profile perfectly. We had the HK$298 bunch with the $198 free flow Pisco Sours. Delicious all of it. The Yuzu Sorbet to finish made me smile. Yum!!! Make sure you try the Cerviche de Classico which is Seabass with Leche... More

We were four people and tried tuna tataki, risotto, Japanese free range yolk, ceviche mixto and lomo saltado. The food is very good, the same with the service, but is too expensive and the quantity of the dishes is a little bit small. We ordered something more, at the end of the dinner, because we were hungry. Neverthelss the flavours... More

It is somewhat disappointing to hear that you believe our food is somewhat expensive, perhaps if I can explain that the cost of our globally sourced market fresh organic ingredients result in a nominal margin on almost every dish we serve. I can offer my personal guarantee that our prices are highly competitive. Thank you for the kind comments on... More

Just stayed 6 nights in Hong Kong and ate out every meal at a different local restaurant. The food and service at this restaurant stood out from all the rest. The food was fresh and the flavor combinations were incredible. It's a mixture of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. I'm just upset we ate here on the last day of our... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
