Our private tour guide arranged for our lunch stop to be at Maxim's for traditional dim sum. At this restaurant the waitress still push the carts around the restaurant to choose your items. We tried some amazing new dishes. One of our favorites is char sui bao and it was so absolutely delicious that we ordered two baskets. One member... More

This is a place you have to go .. The dim sum is really fresh and nice despite the waiting time. Ambience is really good and they have high ceiling in the main dining area making it really exquisite. They opened at 11 am and by the time it was around 12, the restaurant was almost full. It is that... More

So glad I saw this place mentioned on a blog. Great place for all to come and enjoy Yum Cha. Yes it isn't the cheapest but if you want a great variety done in a traditional way, this is the place to go. They also don't mind westerners coming and won't treat you second class or overcharge you which is... More

My cousin and I dined here last week and really enjoyed our experience. The food was great and very authentic. It was reasonably priced. Beautiful dining room with great atmosphere and views of the harbor.

Dinner as arranged by local expert, we headed across from the IFC towards the City Hall, thought he was kidding little did I know it was not only the City Hall, but concert hall and restaurant!! Place was quiet when we arrived (7pm) but was packing out by 8 on a Monday evening. Went to several meals around town, but... More

Finally, during my 4th visit to HK, I was able to visit Maxim's! I have had dim sum before, but everyone said this place was great. All the guidebooks recommend this place, so decided to go for Sunday Lunch. I knew it was going to be full, so had a snack before to keep me going, but when I got... More

Really enjoyed a business meal out here. We were a table of eight and the service was excellent all throughout. I enjoyed some of the more exotic foods here including Jellyfish which I have added as a photo.

Maxims usually has a massive queue of people waiting to get in. We managed to get there just before the lunch crowd and was shown a table right away. Here you are guaranteed to get good quality dimsum - the price is slightly steeper than other restaurants though. For dessert, try the coffee jelly and the baked pudding. Never had... More

This is my 4th review about the best places to go while visiting Hong Kong. It is not difficult to find good dim sum in the city, however, Cityhall Maxim Chinese Restaurant is standing out not just because their dim sum tastes delicious, the restaurant keeps the origin tastes and maintains the varieties of dim sum. There are few signature... More

This place is super popular. We arrived at around 1pm and needed to wait 45 mins for a table but we half expected that before we arrived so it wasn't a big deal. The food was lovely and good value for the quality and felt like a "must" Hong Kong experience.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
