Lucky there was no queue when I got here on Sat afternoon 430pm. The restaurant is around 90 years old. No 13. Curry Beef Tendon with Rice Noodle is excellent.

From reviews I read, they recommend this joint for the best Beef Brisket Noodle soup, with Michelin stars. I went there and queued for almost 30 minutes, share table with strangers, and got my Noodle. Smelled like regular bowl of Beef soup, taste is poor...and fail to match our Beef Noodle back home. The meat was even tough and not delicious. Michelin failed here or something is really fishy with their rating, I hope not for sale!More

With over 90 years of history in Hong Kong, Kau Kee Restaurant 九记 is famous of their Beef Brisket Noodles served in clear broth and Beef Curry Noodles. This restaurant almost always had a long line, but this time, it was only half full. The...beef was still very soft and tender, but I felt that the broth was not as good as before. They ran out of hor fun 河粉, so it came with 伊面 noodles instead. Still yummy, but no longer mind-blowing. If going there, use A2 exit at Sheung Wan MTR. Walk about 400m towards Gough Street. #choowai2022 #wongchoowaieats #wongchoowai #beef #kaokee #beefbrisket #beefnoodles #beefnoodlesoup #hkfoodie #hkfood #hkfoodblogger #hk #sgfoodinfluencers #sgfoodbloggers #sgfoodiesMore

Tourist trap, overpriced, small servings, all true but does not matter - this in my opinion is the best tasting beef brisket noodles/curry in Hong Kong just by the quality of the beef. Beef melts in your mouth and best paired with the e-fu noodles...OR you can go for the curry/dry options which you can include beef tendons with. Pre-COVID, the queues would start to snake from 12PM until the evenings. Presently, the lines can be long during the prime lunch/dinner hours but very manageable compared to pre-COVID times.More

I paid HK$80 for a bowl of beef brisket noodles and an iced lemon tea. It may not sound like much but the size of the bowl was half the size of regular bowls served in other dai pai dongs, the beef brisket was mostly...fat, which had more of tripe than beef itself and the noodles were overcooked (soggy) - nothing like the pictures portraying it in these reviews. At this price there are other beef brisket noodles, within the area, that provide better value for your dollar.More

Kau Kee is an institution. Sometimes the lines can be down the street so time it accordingly. Beef brisket noodles are great. Portions are small which will give you the opportunity to try both flavours. (Regular and curry). Seating is mainly community style. I am...not a fan of it.More

Kau Kee is a really famous joint for beef brisket so expect long queues. Usually beef brisket is paired with flat rice noodles, thin yellow noodles and other options but here it is popularly paired with E-fu noodles and it tastes so good that they...serve plain E-fu noodles in soup too. The beef brisket curry was really nice because it had lots of caraway seeds which is how a good tasting beef brisket curry should have. Sadly the last time I had this delicious tasting beef brisket was in the UK which is a bit of a shame for something that I should be able to get readily in Hong Kong. Also had the plain e-fu noodles which are the best you can get in Hong Kong. It is really difficult to get good tasting E-fu noodles because not many people order it other restaurants so the uncooked noodles (in dry form) have probably been sitting there for quite a while therefore going rancid because of the environment. But here, they are served nearly every minute which means they won't be sitting in the storeroom for long from the time to get rancid. Anyway, the E-fu noodles were lovely and al-dente when they arrived and the broth was sweet, loaded with lots of spring onions giving it a fresh taste.More

First, I have to say the dishes which I ordered was so yummy and rich. Especially, the soup is so amazing and hard to express that great taste. However, you may wonder why I gave the low rate because its service and its behavior. It...seemed that the cashier is own this restaurant. Also, she was so rude and act as if she didn't need to care about customers' feeling maybe because it's known for its dishes on internet. I won't visit this shop next time. "超級爛" 首先我必須說我點的餐點真得很好吃,特別是湯太讓人驚訝了真得很難去形容那個味道。 然後,可以能會好奇為甚麼我給了這麼低的評價,因為它的服務和態度。 收錢的大媽好像是個老闆。 此外,她非常的無理和表現出一付他不需要在意客人的感受或許這家店在網路上很有名的關係,我絕對不會再去這家店了。 "The worst experience I haven't ever had"More

90% of customers seem to be tourists. There used to be a lot more locals visiting. Food quality has been more or less consistent however. Price has gone up a lot over the years. Male employees are generally friendlier and more pleasant than the female...ones - not gender discrimination but a matter of fact. Service has gone from bad to worse, especially the woman manning the cashier - she is a tourist destination in herself. If you want bragging rights back home on bad HK service, this is the place to visit.More

Absolutely beautiful curry beef noodle soup! The beef itself was extremely tender with the curry having just enough spice but not too overpowering. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting HK!

We came here because we heard the beef noodles are one of the best in the city. There was a long line outside before the place even opened which we thought was a good sign. Staff is extremely efficient with handling the high amount of...customers, they make sure every seat is occupied, meaning you’ll share a table with others, which wasn’t a problem for us. Unfortunately the beef noodles themselves were quite a disappointment, the noodles were the same as those instant noodles you can buy from the shop and were still a bit hard. The soup was alright, had a bit of a sweet taste to it. I also ordered iced coffee, which was extremely sweet (couldn’t drink it, but of course it depends on what your taste preference is). They were trying to serve everyone as quickly as possible (understandably so), which might have an effect on the quality of the food.More

Popped by here for a quick lunch after visiting the Man Mo temple nearby - the queue of locals outside waiting for a table was a good sign, and the food didn't disappoint. I had some very tasty beef brisket noodles which seem to be...the specialty here. Very efficient service at communal tables so the queue moves quickly - feels like a proper authentic Hong Kong fast food style experience. Cash only so make sure you have your HK dollars with you. Plus I managed to leave my sunglasses behind, but when I came back later the staff had kept them to one side for me - so also wanted to write a review to say thank you to the staff!More

We were told to go to Kau Kee because it is the best place for beef stew noddle. The line was very long, we waited for 45 minutes and then we had to share a table for 8 with 8 other people (total was 10)....The waiters have no patience, if it takes more than 2 minutes to order they leave and come back when they are not busy. The food is almost fast food. Very hot place, I think it only has fans, no AC.More

I would not recommend Kau Kee for vegetarian food at all but if you must go, I think they do serve a “Noodles only” version that contains no meat. Just be okay with the fact the making of the broth does involve meat... More
