Living in Dubai we have a plethora of Middle Eastern restaurants of varying standards. As such I have become very particular when searching for Middle Eastern restaurants overseas. Zahrabel Dining Club is of a very high standard and the best I have found on Hong Kong island. The attention to detail is commendable and the food is as authentic as... More

Looking for a halal meal in HK in a fine restaurant is not too easy, luckily I found this place that does amazing flavours, all using halal meat. Setting and service is 5* and a place I can be happy to bring my guests from Malaysia, all content and very full thanks to their sharing menus.

We visited here last weekend on the back of TA reviews and frankly it was a massive disappointment. Our starters of Kibbe, Hummus, Tabouleh and House Dip were, to be fair, fine. With our hopes still high we waited patiently for almost an hour for the main course to come (Shish Taouk, Grilled Fish with Sauce and Lamb Stew). The... More

My friend took me to this fabulous Lebanese restaurant and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised and genuinely happy to have been introduced to this place. It is so rare in Hong Kong to find an independent restaurant- not owned by a multitude of shareholders but instead by a family (we got to meet one of the owners there!)... More

Despite the slight hassle of "joining" this establishment before eating there (a simple on-line exercise), Zahrabel is certainly worth it! The food was perfect - fresh, light, tasty with interesting spices and a balance of flavors. The service was terrific - attentive without being smothering. Portions were just right and the menu allows patrons to taste a variety of dishes.... More

On a business trip to Hong Kong, I was taken to this dining club for a client dinner. Notwithstanding that it is not located in the CBD, it is quite ideal for business dinners with its quietly impressive interior and service. You feel at the same time well attended to but also service is not intrusive like a lot of... More

My dad loves Middle Eastern food and I booked this place for his 60th birthday on a friend's recommendation. The weekend shared menus are generous in portions, although I ate too much of the complimentary bread! For our table of 8 guests we ordered the Thamaniah shared menu which also come with dessert so I would strongly recommend saving space... More

We chose the 8 dish sharing menu, the food was terrific in particular the spicy nutty dip- Jos Mahrouse, chicken in minty sauce, Kafta, Kibbe Bil Laban. The Zahrabel cocktail while refreshing did not have more than a drop of gin. The real downer of the evening was the service! Excruciatingly slow and inattentive although the restaurant was almost empty. The... More

Booked a group of 10. Chose their 8 dish choice from a set menu - not from A La Carte. Plentiful selection and enough is brought to share. If you have any vegetarian diners they will substitute. It was a good evening and the wines were very good. However, it is a very busy private dining venue and service was... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
