The place is not brightly lit and you can easily miss it. Though it looks dingy, it is clean. We got claypot rice but not being locals, didn't know how to mix the sauce in. It was only later that we saw some locals (probably)...mixing the sauce into the rice and letting it seep for a while. If you get the claypot rice, you can get the veges at a very cheap price. Get it, it's worth it.More

Went there yesterday night. We ordered the fried oysters omelette, 1 clay pot chicken and 1 clay pot beef. All 3 dishes were bad. The beef slices were rubbery and the chicken was tough. The oyster pancake was bad too. The service staff were also...very rude impatient. I definitely DO NOT recommend this.More

I usually eat here whenever I go to Temple Street night market as it's at the beginning of my itinerary from Yau Ma Tei MTR station down to Jordan MTR. It's a very local place for claypot rice. In autumn and winter, there's long queue....The place is cramped and looks not that clean. Foreigners may find it unacceptable. I tried claypot rice with ribs and duck liver sausage. Yummy. But the price is quite high ($66) given the rather poor environment. Have to pay upon ordering and need 10-15 min wait.More

Food was mediocre. Pots were not hot enough, so the rice is not charred, which is essential for claypot rice. Ingredients were also not plentiful. The only thing I would recommend would be the fried oyster pancakes. Also, as with most local HK places, service...was not great.More

Usually pot rice are served with rice that are slighted burnt and charred (gives the dish the fragrance and extra taste), however, the pot rice here was served with white rice and very little quantity of meat. The pot was not hot enough, so we...also couldn’t let the rice cook for a while longer to get that charred taste.More

This is one of the restaurants that are regularly shown on YouTube. This was my second trip as my friend wanted to try it out. Didn’t find the bottom of the clay pot rice to be crispy and the food was ok only. Wouldn’t say...it’s a must try if your visiting Hong Kong.More

This came highly recommended by friends so we decided to try since it was near to the hotel we were staying in this trip. We had the claypot rice and the duck egg omelette. Both were disappointing. Was told to expect a long queue for...this but when we went for dinner at about 7:45pm on Wednesday night, there was no queue. Maybe cos their standards have droppped so less people patronise them now.More

The worst claypot rice ever eaten in Hong Kong. Tasteless, crustless rice ever. Meat can be counted with one hand...... Totally not worth it!!!

Famed for its claypot rice, we decided to try the claypot rice at Four Seasons Claypot Rice (四季煲仔飯), at Yau Ma Tei. The location is behind the Yau Ma Tei MTR Station Exit C. So you should make a U-turn when you exit from the...Yau Ma Tei MTR Station. If you are expecting quint cosy décor than you might be a tad disappointed, the interior of the eatery (can’t really call it a restaurant or cafe) is very simple and seems right out of the 80s or 90s, remaining untouched. It is not fancily done up and its age does show, but I guess the food can make up for it; though I would not recommend using the bathroom unless you absolutely have to. The servers were surprising cordial and we were soon making our order. There are plenty of claypot rice flavors, from cured liver sausages, preserved duck legs, to chicken feet, beef or salted fish etc... The choices are endless… We ordered the Chinese Sausage Claypot Rice, Salted Fish Claypot Rice, a plate of vegetables (lettuce) and a plate of oyster pancake. The claypot rice was acceptable, but nothing to rave about. The ingredients were fresh and the rice nicely cooked, but other than that, it can be considered quite a simple dish. While I wasn’t too taken with the claypot rice, I became smitten with their oyster pancake. It was crunchy, meaty and had a nice crisp flavor to it. The cook must have been in a good mood that day as it was just nice, not too greasy yet flavorful and crunchy. It was as addictive as potato chips, once you have one you just can’t stop! Being one of the renowned places known for its claypot rice, it is definitely one item ticked off my food bucket list. So if you want to dine in an unpretentious environment with humble décor, and simple local food, than visiting this place is recommended for a local ‘taste’. Of course, if the queue is too long, I would recommend going somewhere else to it. The food might be a good local experience, but it isn’t that outstanding to wait in line for more than 15 minutes (just my two cents worth). For more of the experience and photos, please check out my blog. ^^More

We ordered the Chinese sausage with chicken claypot rice. The rice and chicken were freshly cooked but lacked the charred taste that should come with claypot rice. One had to add your own sauce for the flavours which meant that you may not get it...right. Unfortunately the quality of the Chinese sausage was lacking - really hard. I would only rate the claypot rice 4 out of 10. Thankfully, their signature dish of duck egg omelette with oysters did not disappoint. It deserved an 8 out of 10. I would probably go there just for the omelette rather than the rice.More
