MY LETTER TO THE MICHELIN GUIDE WEBSITE. I am writing this letter to express my extreme disappointment with the terrible experience my friend and I had at your recommended so-called "renowned" establishment, Yat Lok, today. We visited Yat Lok despite the heavy traffic and far...distance because of your recommendation, and it turned out to be a complete nightmare. It ruined our plans for the evening and soured my friend’s last night in Hong Kong! To put it bluntly, first, the staff was very rude and unhelpful. Being foreigners who don't speak the local dialect, when we asked for assistance and an explanation of the menu, no one cared to assist us. As a result, we ordered a random dish of duck noodles, which turned out to be not what I wanted since no one explained the menu to us. After eating, both my friend and I felt ill. My friend even had to rush to the toilet before we reached our destination. We both experienced upset stomachs and severe digestive issues. It is beyond infuriating to have our final night in Hong Kong ruined by this. We had expected a memorable and enjoyable culinary experience, but instead, we were subjected to discomfort and misery. Furthermore, considering the lofty reputation of Yat Lok Michelin Star Rated Street Food and the high expectations associated with a Michelin star rating, I find it utterly unacceptable that the food quality fell so far below our anticipated standard. Moreover, the misleading pictures of the dishes on your website is an intentional act of deception that can only disappoint and anger unsuspecting customers. I sincerely hope that you take my grievances seriously and address the issues raised immediately. I expect a prompt response to this letter, along with a satisfactory resolution to our concerns. It is imperative that you update the images on the Michelin Guide website to accurately reflect the reality of how the food is served. This is necessary to prevent future customers from experiencing the disappointment and deception that my friend and I endured. Rest assured, I will not hesitate to share my appalling experience with others, both through word of mouth and online platforms, in order to raise awareness and prevent others from enduring a similar ordeal. I eagerly await your urgent response.More

Not wheel chair friendly and staff not at all very helpful. Food maybe great but definitely a lot of room for improvement. They simply didn’t care for anyone with wheel chairs. Just so sad. 😢

Super crowded, tiny, overratef and dirty restaurant. Not worth the waiting. The food is not at all as good as people say and the service is awful. Just look at the pictures and see where they seated us. By the way, if you decide to...stay, bring tissues or you’ll need to pay 4$. Don’t waste your time hereMore

We came for the food and was quickly seated with only a few minutes wait. The restaurant was quite busy so we had to share a table with another couple as it was a common practice. A friend gave us tips on how to order...so we got a small plate of char siu and the left quarter leg of the goose (supposedly the best part) with a small plate of rice. The server took our order without much comments and it was quickly delivered. Helped to plan ahead. The char siu was slightly fatty but was tender and tasty. The goose was perfect with nice crispy skin, tender and flavorful meat and plentiful. A little on the pricey side for lunch (HKD $110 for small char siu and $198 for leg quarter goose) but checked off our box for goose in HK since it’s not that common back home.More

Service is really bad. I wanted and requested nicely so my family can be seated together, Service staff yelled and threatened me that if we don’t follow her way of designated seating. We are welcome not to eat and leave. Even if the food is...good (I should give it a 5 or 4), the rude treatment just spoiled the experience of enjoying the food (thus I rate it a 1). No amount of good food can make up a super terrible service experience. I paid to dine in and enjoy the food, not to get yelled at rudely. After today’s experience, that service staff can now be happy and rest assured that I will follow her advice and not return to dine in again.More

Since in Hong Kong I have had my fill of roast goose (once I am back stateside this will be a luxury I can't afford). I thought Kams was the best with its greasy deliciousness (although pricey) but I think I much prefer Yat Lok....It isn't just because my lunch was cheaper than Kams but the goose here was tender and flavorful. Compared to Kams fancier ambiance, I preferred the lack of fan fare, and to the point vibes. I honestly love wait staff in hong kong. They are not here to kiss up. They are matter of fact and to the point.More

Honestly… kinda overrated. Food is pretty good but service is so awful. They’re not fans of tourists and gave us short answers (if the servers even spoke), quite rude and rush you out, not to mention you are given a MUCH smaller portion if you...are a tourist (not Chinese.) As I said food isn’t bad but doesn’t knock your socks off either. Definitely don’t wait in line for this.More

There was lots of people waiting at Yat Lok Roast Goose, so I opted for takeaway so I could get away quickly and continue to experience Hong Kong. Ordered a half roast goose which came which plum and soy sauce. All I can say, is...that I can see why there is a queue. Delicious. Highly recommended.More

After reading couples of recently negative reviews, we hesitated to visit this restaurant, but then decided to give it a try. Surprisingly, even it was crowded at 7.45pm when we got there, we could find the seats easily by the friendly support of the staff....Services were nice and quick. Staff could speak a basic English but that was not a problem. Price was bit high, however, the roasted goose was amazing and worth every single penny. If you are looking for a Michelin-awarded restaurant serving local dishes, we would recommend this one, but do bear in mind that they would not offer private seats or private waiters to pour the water for you.More

If i could give this 0 stars I would. Not sure how this is on the Michelin Guide. Okay so, me and my wife saw some bad reviews, although thought we would still try it since its on the Michelin guide, but in my opinion...it does not deserve to be on it. Ordered the roast goose with bbq pork and roast goose with roast pork as well. To begin with the roast pork was good (and hot) but the goose was just skin and bones and it was as if we got all the left over bits as locals across from us had very meaty bits. We were still hungry and thought we would order more roast pork as it wasn’t too bad. When the small plate of roast pork arrived, it was cold and looked very dry. My wife who speaks cantonese asked them to change it for a new plate as it was cold. The first worker acknowledged her but did not do anything about it. My wife had to ask her three times before the worker said “Don’t ask me.” My wife then asked the male worker who brought it out, to which he said “It is meant to be cold.” The male worker and another female worker who walked over began to argue saying “You are wrong, it is always cold.” My wife said “No its not, because it was hot on our plate before, and this is the first time I have had roast pork” to which the male worker said before “No you didn’t, you had just the goose.” They continued to try bully my wife until she could not be bothered to continue arguing. I am appauled with the level of service at the end and no workers should be treating their customers like that regardless of what they think is right, especially a place that is on the Michelin guide. If reviewers are wanting great roast goose, go to “Yung’s Roast Goose Restaurant” in Yau Ma Tei, as their quality of food and service was great. For the same price we also got much more food. Sorry for the essay but I cannot accept this service, hope this helps people decide where to go.More

The roast goose was super good. Char Siew was so so and not as good as Malaysia’s and Singapore’s “style”. Had to queue and generally a pretty cramped place to dine in

I went there at 6pm and only waited less than 3 mins. Dinner time probably has shorter queue than lunch time.
