Michelin Recommended Italian Fine Dining! This restaurant is Michelin recommended with high quality of food and environment while 3-courses lunch set costs $298 only! Customers around me are mostly non-locals which...means it is popular among foreigners in Hong Kong. I would definitely consider this as a good option for dating or special occasions, like birthday and anniversary! Both with good taste! Tuna is fresh and ig-able! - 🦁 Main ✅ 手工貓耳朵|Orecchiette Pasta, N’duja Sausage, Tomatoes Sauce 係食過最好食既貓耳朵😍 夠煙韌 調味岩岩好 Definitely the best Orecchiette Pasta I have ever tried!! With perfect texture and seasoning! ➡️ 手工扁意粉|Linguine, Clams, Calamari, Zucchini Puree (+$38) 依個main反而要加錢 可能因為有海鮮. 不過都質偏硬 冇貓耳朵咁出色. This main needs addition charge but its taste is not superior than Orecchiette Pasta. A bit too hard for me - 🦁 Dessert ✅ Tiramisù (+$18)|✅ Panna Cotta 個Tiramisù正到癲 香濃軟滑 一定要試!明明咁大件 幾啖就食晒. Best Tiramisu ever! Smooth and creamy enough. I ate the whole piece lolMore

Burrata was fresh and a generous portion better to be shared otherwise it would leave little room for the rest of the courses if it was an appetiser for one person. It did ooze out some milky cheesy liquid but somehow it was not 'creamy'...enough and lacked that fragrance unique to a really fabulous burrata. It could do with more swirls of a nice balsamic vinegar. And some grounded black pepper. The red shrimp soup was too weak and not hot enough, could be a bit 'creamier or thicker' or more 'condensed'. When it arrived it definitely lacked the ' inviting ' factor. Please no offence but when it arrived, the soup was like some insipid khaki water colour. It would be good to have a black pepper grinder at the table so we could add it whenever desired. Bread was okay, not amazing with the two choices but the good thing is both weren't greasy i.e. overly brushed with olive oil as in many Italian restos. Could have some more authentic Italian bread though e.g. focaccia. Only olive oil initially served and had to ask for vinegar to add to the small dish of olive oil. Grilled cod was a good portion, fresh and succulent but the Romanesco cauliflower tip served as a side veggie was a bit too ' raw ' so it was very hard to the bite. It is of course not good to overdo vegetables but as it was not intended to be a salad , it should be more "cooked". It would definitely be better if given another minute and drizzled with veggie broth to bring out the flavour. Service was friendly and accommodating and this is what's helped Giando gain points. The Asian manager was very nice and thoughtful to have changed us to a larger table when my initial request for window seat at the time of booking was ultimately declined. We were okay with it as the night was really busy. Yet he vowed to swap our tiny table to a roomier one once it was available and he kept his words. As soon as a bigger round table was cleared, he promptly led us over with a big smile. Another added score is they did not forget to surprise my guest with a belated bday treat as requested in the ' added info space ' when the booking was made on-line----out came two teeny tiny mini chocolaty tarts along with a thin candle standing on a miniature meringue served on a big plate piped with "Happy Birthday" on the edge. It was good they did read everything and carried it out without any prompting. Warm hospitality is, most of the time, what we really care about and a decisive factor to determine if we would revisit although good food trumps in any dining experience. Here it is definitely the nice, warm, pleasant and attentive service that lure us back. And their bathroom is clean too.More

…by the same people who have a similarly extraordinary restaurant in the old Fenwick Pier and some of HK’s best delicatessens in the form of the Mercato shops. We had the brunch menu for $550-ish each and were treated to six sublime starters between us,...a main and dessert each. The standouts among the starters were the beef tartare and tuna carpaccio too, which makes sense. Service was impeccable and much like their first location, it’s a beautiful space.More

This Italian restaurant is located on Star Street in Wanchai, just opposite Pacific Place 3. Founded and managed by Chef Gianni, it delivered modern Italian cooking encompassing his culinary travels around the world, featuring ingredients and wines from Italy’s artisan producers and family farms. Arriving...early evening we were seated at the nice alcove-style booth, with amazing ambience, dim lighting supplemented with candlelight, comfortable leather booth seats and smooth relaxing music. Everything was organized neat and cozy, and on the atmosphere alone it already won us over. We decided to go for the Giando Menu ($898 each) as that included the signatures of the restaurant. The first course was Tartare di Gamberi, Burrata e Caviale Oscietra di Amur. The Mediterranean prawn tartare was finely diced, with a nice, sweet taste, enhanced further by the umami from the ‘Amur Oscietra’ caviar on top. The Burrata underneath provided a rich milky note and with the soft texture mixing in, together with the basil extracts drizzled, was a fantastic starter. The second course was Capesante al Guanciale, Crema di Mais e Tartufo Nero. The lightly seared scallop was wrapped with pork cheek, imparting the soft and tender scallop with the savory flavors, a perfect match between the two. The corn puree underneath was rich and sweet, giving an extra dimension to the overall sensory enjoyment. There were finely shredded shallot and some shaved black truffle on top to give additional aromas to the dish. Another feast of delights. The third course was Cavatelli ai Ricci di Mare. Cavatelli is a type of pasta that looks like tiny shell, and the restaurant made them in-house, offering a great bite and was one of the best pastas I had tasted in terms of texture. Prepared using the ‘Aglio Olio’ style, there was an intense umami taste from the shaved bottarga, the fish roe that had been salted and cured like Japanese karasumi. The sea urchin on top was bright orange in color, giving extra visual appeal and flavors to the pasta. A must-try. The fourth course was Gnocchi su Fonduta, Prosciutto e Tartufo Nero. We could already smell the rich and nice cheese aromas before starting, and the potato gnocchi were very good, soft and with the delicate flavors matching well with the creamy cheese fondue, plus additional savory and earthy notes coming from the ham and shaved black truffle. The fava beans were also great, providing a contrasting bite with the gnocchi. The overall seasoning was spot on and another great dish to sample. For the fifth course there was a choice of fish or beef, with both of us taking Filetto di Branzino in Crosta di Carasau. The Mediterranean seabass fillet was beautifully pan-fried, with a unique ‘Carasau’ bread crust which were crunchy and reminded me of a Japanese dish in which the chef deep-fried the scales. There was some Romanesco broccoli on the side, and paired with Salmoriglio herb sauce, a signature southern Italian sauce made with lemon juice, garlic, olive oil and herbs to accompany with fish. Very good in taste with the flavors all harmonized. Coming to dessert, we were served Giandoiotto, named after a chocolate from Piedmont, which was shaped like as ingots with layers. The top was rich and very tasty vanilla chocolate, followed by a sponge cake and another layer of chocolate cake and a crunchy chocolate crust at the bottom. On the side it was served with hazelnut ice-cream and crushed hazelnuts. It was a nice conclusion to a great and wonderful meal for us. The service was good, though I hope they could spend more time to explain each course upon serving. Browsing through the wine menu there was a wide collection of Italian wines which unfortunately I could not enjoy on the night. It probably justified another visit for that reason alone. The bill was $2,125 and considering the overall experience, quality of the food and ambience, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who like Italian cuisine.More

We came here for lunch. Had a reservation for 12pm, and they open at 12pm. So we got to the restuarant and were the first customers. The waiter showed us to a table. It's a round table away from the window and where all the...servers walk by...DON'T take it! It's the worst table in the restuarant. We asked to change tables next to the window, but I kept looking back at that round table for the next 2 hours were in the restuarant and it was the LAST table to be seated in the whole restuarant. It just shows the tricks that these restuarant people take. Even if you are the first customer and had a resvaration made a week in advance they will give you the WORST table. We had the set meal lunch. Was good. Reason size and tasty. We paid more to select the beef as one of our main dishes. We ordered coffee later, but it took forever to arrive, so we had to chase them a couple of times. But even before the coffees came, the bill came unannounced to the table. We didn't even ask for the bill because we were still waiting for the coffee! So we sent the bill back, and waited for the coffee which after another chasing up eventually came. Can't believe even if we spend over HKD800 for lunch they will try and kick us out of the restuarant as soon as our plates are clean. Overall not bad. A busy restuarant. Food was good. Worth a tryMore

We’ve visited the place several times over the past 2 years and are really big aficionados of the whole group (Gia, giando mercato) as we both love Italian food. But this visit was one that I will remember and I need to write a review...in case someone in the management reads this so they can improve. First the food. My husband had the brunch menu and I went à la carte with shrimp tartare and straciatella as a starter and pasta cacio e pepe with burrata as a main. Both definitely lacked finesse. The first one : there was way too much straciatella while focusing on the tartare and caviar would have been way more elevated. It was good, the ingredients were good but it was just drowning in the cheese (and I am a cheese-lover) and the tartare and caviar got completely lost. Then the main: again way too saucy. Would have been great to keep it more dry like traditional cacio e Pepe and with a small burrata in the center for instance. This way flavors would me more distinguishable. Here the burrata is melted in the sauce so it could be any cheese after all. The best Italian food is is the simple food made with amazing ingredients. Ingredients were impossible to make out here and definitely not enhanced. Then the service and this is where it gets really bad. First the staff’s allure seemed very neglected. The hair, the dress code, the attitude.... friendly yes but really not upscale and not attentive, not proactive. I’m sure the context is a bit morose and it’s not easy with the mask but I’ve had way better experiences elsewhere. Last but not least 2 staff were seen in front of all the clients cutting slices of cheese in the cheese cart and taking them off knife with their bare hands and then of course putting that hand in their mouth with the cheese. Same knife that will cut the cheese for other clients (and probably same hand that will serve the cheese for clients). Needless to say in times of Covid this seems plain irresponsible and unacceptable. And regardless of the virus this is definitely not acceptable for this category of restaurant or at least the category it aspires to be part of. Staff should not eat in front of clients!! And definitely not from the clients’ foodMore

It’s been a long time since my last visit. I picked Giano because both my friend and I were craving for some simple and authentic Italian food. The menu has never made me disappointed, it’s a lunch set with decent selection of Italian dishes. My...friend ordered a Burrata salad with mixed Italian greens and I ordered an eggplant soup. We both had ordered pasta as main, the quality of pasta and combination of ingredient were just perfect. As Asian, we loved sharing food and we enjoyed so much of it. The entire lunch was fulfilling and I can’t wait to visit again for my thanksgiving celebrations and a pre-celebration of a friend’s birthday.More
