This place is great! Atmosphere is warm and laid back and the staff are also really friendly. They know the food very well and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food and drinks were amazing, and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. Thanks Rajima, Sam and team for taking care of us. We will definitely be back!

A great time catching up with family over food, drink and dessert. The staff were helpful with suggestions on what to order, and our food arrived fresh, prompt and looking (and tasting) amazing.

Great location in Wan Chai for a bite or drinks. Amazing and friendly service.
Food was served rather quickly and seemed pre-prepared. They didn’t have the pipping hot, fresh out of the oven feel, rather, felt like the food have been seating there for a while and then being served to us. Even the much loved churros felt hard and cold… could do with better presentation also.
Nevertheless, great night and would come back again!

Their nachos is probably the best I’ve had in Hong Kong! Thinest chips, generous portions for all their orders. Street taco sized tortillas, but regular taco sized portions. Prices are on the medium low side, quality is on the high side. Cotija or Ranchero cheese would be what’s missing from their tacos and nachos. The al pastor taco didn’t need the sauce they put on there and needs more diced up pineapples. Maybe it’s and HK thing, but the jalapeños weren’t spicy.
Florencia was awesome. Her level of customer service is a rare gem in HK.

El Taquero is a new Mexican food restaurant that has opened up on Queen's Road East in the Wanchai. They have a fair sized indoor seating area and offer a traditional range of Mexican cuisine and drinks. Opening hours are 12pm to 3pm (lunch) and 5pm to 10.30pm (dinner) daily.
I had lunch here for the first time recently and found their lunch set to be pretty good. There is choice of soup or salad. Tamale soup was flavourful on the day. Chicken enchilada with verde sauce was also really good. Serving size generous, prices leaning on the higher side of the spectrum and food quality seems to be pretty good at El Taquero. Will definitely do another meal here again based on my first experience.

We stopped in on a Tuesday night at 6:15pm and were seated at the kitchen bar. We watched the chef and staff prepare the food - they were very friendly, welcoming and calm. Our food was FABULOUS!!! Both fresh and quickly delivered to us. The guacamole was wonderful!!! Our favorite was the chicken enchiladas. Highly recommend!

Great night out - food was delicious and we were educated on different types of michaeladas. Server gave us tasters for things we weren’t familiar with (including dried grasshoppers)! Great service and staff - would highly recommend.

I recently visited El taquero, and my experience was fantastic, thanks to our wonderful server, Ann. From the moment we arrived, she greeted us with enthusiasm and a genuine smile. Ann was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, guiding us to popular choices like the taco with beef and the nachos with chicken.
Both dishes were bursting with flavor, featuring fresh ingredients and homemade salsa that added a perfect kick!

We organized a birthday event here with ~15ppl and had a great time! Sam was the manager of the night and he made sure our group was very well taken care of. We had ordered a party package which included nachos, ceviche, quesadillas, tacos and enchiladas for food, and free flow margaritas and soft beverages for drinks. Everyone really enjoyed the dinner and we thought the pricing was very reasonable. Sam helped to take some great photos as well. Highly recommend!

This is a relatively new restaurant and I had noticed queues outside a few times so we went for an early dinner (walked in just before 6pm) in order to not have to wait ourselves. I fully understand why this place is so popular: the food is spectacularly tasty. Every single thing we ordered was utterly delicious: nachos (HUGE by the way), tacos, ceviche and BBQ prawns, plus drinks. Good service, cool vibe and a superb location as well. This is a superb new restaurant that I very much hope to visit again soon!

As a Mexican living in HK, I think:
10/10 music
8/10 tortillas - they’re just not like the ones back home, but they’re tasty.
8/10 flavour - some dishes are authentic, some less so. But overall good portions and tasty.
10/10 service - Ann’s service and everyone else’s were excellent.

Great place for dinner and a couple of drinks. Portion sizes could've been larger vs. price. Food is tasty and some is very unique.
Mexican ambience is present thanks to design and music. Friendly and fast service. Will visit again.

The quality of food surprised my taste buds! We started off with cheese-grilled corn, then fish, ox tongue and cactus tacos, finally a sumptuous plate of nachos!
There is a 2hr time limit, if you come for the food only and not the drinks, should be enough time.

We have visited El Taquero on a few occasions and have always really enjoyed the food. This visit was no different. We had some nachos to start and they were delightfully cheesy and the beef topping was very generous. We followed this with some beef and chicken tacos which were messy to eat, but so tasty. We ended with the churros for desert and these were freshly made and hot. Overall it was a great experience. We were looked after very professionally by Ann, who made sure that the evening was perfect. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

What a great birthday dinner I have had in this new Mexican restaurant! Everything tastes great, margaritas are to die for! We even got offered polaroid bday photos with a handwritten bday note, and a yummy bday treat!
Best of all, together with her team, the restaurant manager Florencia, will ensure you are all well taken care of!
