About
Named after the famous British artist George Chinnery, The Chinnery enjoys a relaxed club-like atmosphere with deep upholstered armchairs, green leather banquettes and warm wood panelling. Offering a laid-back alternative to our fine dining restaurants, The Chinnery specialises in traditional British cuisine with classic dishes such as shepherd's pie, fish and chips available for lunch and dinner. The Chinnery is home to one of the world's largest collections of single malt whiskies. We also serve chilled draft beer in silver tankards by a veteran staff who know many guests by name.

It wasn't until 1990 that female guests were allowed. Vaguely remembered the old days when I had to wait for my husband outside after he had drinks with his buddies. Great English food and superb drinks in the heart of Central, the service staff is...professional and efficient, cocktails are impeccable, not to mention the selection of single malts by the glass, corkage is reasonable at HK$500 for the Mandarin. No other choice for easy casual dining in a first rate establishment. Reservation highly recommended as the place is small and cosy, less than 30 including bar seating.More

A perfect place for a relaxed drink and perfect food within a unique and cosy location. Always a haven from the heat and pace of the city and well worth seeking out. Nicer cheap but always worth it for the quality food, great wine list...and of course chilled beer in a tankard!More

…to eat extraordinary food. Yes it’s very pricey but if you are lucky enough to come here then you’ll love it. For my birthday lean I had a lobster cocktail starter and a chicken tikka main. Both superb, the curry in particular was outstanding, maybe...the best I have had outside India. And they even brought us some free birthday crumble too. The place itself obviously looks wonderful and service is impeccable too. What a great restaurant!More

The Chinnery is a feature bar at the Mandarin Oriental that is named after early 19th-century British artist George Chinnery who spent many years in Asia, living in nearby Macau from 1825 until his death in 1852. Decor and atmosphere is that of an earlier...era English club. Opening hours are 11.30pm to 2.30pm (lunch), 5pm to 11pm (cocktails) and 6.30-10.30pm (dinner), dress attire comfortable before 5pm. Afterwards, best put on a pair of trousers and close toed shoes, leave the swimming pool wear and sandals in your hotel room. We stop here from time to time for a round of cocktails or meal. They do up good fish-and-chips, curries, bangers and mash amongst other pub favourites. The sticky toffee pudding is very good. With your meal, you can enjoy a tankard of beer, traditional cocktail, wine or flight of single malt whiskeys depending on what you fancy. Service is always professional and timely, the bartender mixes good quality cocktails. It is a fun place for a round of drinks and traditional British pub meal if that is something you are looking for in the Central District.More
