Around 2 weeks ago, my 3 friends and I visited Joe Bananas to celebrate my friend's going away party. (This is during the time period in which HK is still undergoing strict social distancing measures due to the Covid-19 outbreak - the rules stated no...group gatherings of more than 4 people). As we arrived, we had ordered drinks and our drinks were placed down on a table right next to a bigger group of 8. We felt uncomfortable with being assigned a table too close to a large group and were afraid of being mistaken for breaking the social distancing measures so we decided not to stay seated, but instead to stand close by our table and dance. Shortly after we had arrived, the HK Police had arrived into the bar and forbade anyone to move. After analysing the area, the officers approached me and my friends and made us move closer towards our table. They snapped a photo of us and fined us 5000HKD for being in a group of over 4 people (they had cornered us into a group of 12 - alongside the group of 8 previously mentioned). The reason as to why I am posting a review for Joe Bananas are the following: - Bars and Nightclubs in HK, being loyal to their customers, have a habit of warning their customers that the cops are about to come inside, in order to avoid a total disruption to the partying and to avoid losing customers. But in this case, there was no warning whatsoever. - The staff working at Joe Bananas are responsable for ensuring that the social distancing measures are being followed. Not only did they allow a group of 8 to be seated together, they also seated my friends and I right by that group of 8. - The Joe Bananas staff did not defend us when we argued with the police saying that we were only in a group of 4. All of this led to my friends and I, alongside the 8 people next to us to receiving a heavy fine of 5000HKD despite it being unfair and untrue (for my group). Be careful if/when you go to Joe Bananas, you're responsable for yourself as the staff will not have your back if anything goes wrong.More

Big fan of Joe Bananas, great band been regular but too sad to see them turning into another typical Wan chai underground clubs. Talking about ladies and their special drinks.

One of the best bands in Hong Kong and good venue. Drinks are reasonable, not cheap though. Just not a great atmosphere let it down but I'd go back

Solid restaurant in Wan Chai. Joe Bananas offers a more Western-Style kitchen incl salads and pizzas, as well as burgers. The location is easy to reach when hanging around in wan chai and a lot of nice bars are around. Having dinner here with some...friends over a beer, is a relaxed start into a fun evening in Wan Chai.More

I’m very sad to write this, but we were a group of 40 friends trying to have a very good evening. But when you have two bouncers in the venue making life very uncomfortable who wants to go back there . You management need to...work on your two highly aggressive bouncers on the floor who made our last night together a rather disappointing one. In times like this in Hong Kong when business is down , you not doing any favours by being arrogant and aggressive to a group bringing in business and left with a sour taste in our mouths.More

Great place to chill out, superb cocktails and food is on par with some fine dining places too, excellent fish n chips and lamb chops! Always love to go back here!

Live band was incredible !!! Love them to the max. We came here every night after business trip. And back soon if we can 😍😂🤣

Went there to recall prior business trips to Hong Kong before the changeover. Changed a lot but service was great, there is a dance floor and the Filipino band we saw were great.

Three of us met relatively early for a few drinks and managed to get a table. It was raining outside and rather than getting wet in search for somewhere to eat, we looked at their menu. Previously, i had only tried their snacks, but since...they had 3 Signature mains dishes, we tried them out. Rack of Lamb, Pork Roll and Burger. All were very good: the lamb cooked to perfection - the pork roll very tasty and with a large piece of crackling - and a giant burger, which was a little over cooked! Service very friendly as usual. The band that was playing in the early part of the evening was also very good.More

Excellent venue with live music every night. Price of drinks comparable with other bars in same location. Pleasant and friendly staff and music brilliant. Band well worth going to see.

Brilliant fun place,we were in a group loads of fun ,there was a band on they were amazing had the whole place jumping,been a couple of times very good night

If you want a great night out, fantastic quality entertainment and food. Also they cater for gluten free.
