The recently renovated Man Ho Chinese Restaurant of the 5-star JW Marriott Hotel can simply be described as a fine dining Chinese restaurant with a floral touch. Guests are first greeted with the crystal lotus pond at the reception, followed by the morning glory chandeliers. The spacious main dining room appears to be brighter than before. Private rooms configurations are now highly flexible, as they can be resized, connected together with removable partitions, and even renamed to cater to specific customer purposes. Servers are courteous, amicable, and attentive. It is very apparent from his usage of more edible flowers and herbs that the chef is trying to incorporate the new floral theme into his cuisine, enhancing the dishes healthily and aesthetically. Highlights of the meal are the super cute Golden Fish Dumpling, the flavorful Conch Soup with Fish Maw and Seeds of Heaven (name of the edible flower used), the innovative Scallop and Fried Eggplant with Pandan Sauce, and the elegant Winter Melon and Mushroom Garden.

Delicious Cantonese Cusine and thoughtful services. Feeling so warm after drinking the sea cucumber and chickpeas soup, I would say that it is the best in town so far. Our server Sam is very thoughtful and gives great recommendations on the choice of dishes. Sam is also knowledgeable on the ingredients and benefit. Cannot wait to go back to Man Ho Restaurant again for family dim sum time.

My colleagues and I have been working hard for COVID-19. As the number of cases dropped and stabilized, it's time to reward ourselves with a sumptuous meal. So I organized dinner at Man Ho, with recently awarded 1-Michelin Star Chef Jayson. I read about his new dish: pan fried fish maw with almond chicken broth and specifically requested this dish. We were so happy when the first dish was served: baked toast with sea urchin and mango. Fresh & sweet was Hokkaido sea urchin. First time eating sea urchin with mango and thick crunchy toast, and they matched nicely. Next was wok fried mantis prawn fillet with crispy garlic and chilli. The dish was so fragrant. Only slightly spicy, the freshness of the prawn was enhanced by the crispy garlic and chilli. I surely love eating the mantis prawn without the shell. The mantis prawn fillet was large and pan fried just right, to be eaten with knife & fork. The third dish was poached sliced lobster in consomme. All were amazed that the raw lobster flesh could be "cooked" by the hot lobster bisque, yet, we could immediately drink the lobster bisque. Chef Jayson must have made precise calculations to enable dual perfection. Then pan fried fish maw with almond chicken broth was served. The slice of fish maw was browned slightly on both sides. Almond chicken broth was poured over it. The fish maw was chewy and went well with the almond chicken broth. The kale and fresh lily bulbs made the presentation attractive and they're also delicious. The fifth dish was braised South African dried abalone with black mushroom and winter melon. My friends who ate this dish the first time applauded to all 3 layers plus the Japanese rice for them to finish the tasty abalone sauce. Next was fried rice rolls with beef onglet. I love eating beef and the beef onglets were satisfying. This dish was wonderfully fragrant when brought near our table, demonstrating that the chef must have used the wok well in order to bring out the flavour and smell of the beef! Bravo! Dessert duo were pistachio cream with milk foam (cold & creamy with chopped pistachio sprinkled on top) and deep fried purple sweet potato pastry. A nice finale for a great meal! My friends and I enjoyed all the dishes. It's a fulfilling dining experience which made our day! Chef Jayson and his team are surely worth more than 1-Michelin Star!

My clients in Hong Kong brought me here for a business lunch. The atmosphere and service was good, but the food was disappointed. The crab claw sautéed with egg yolk sauce looks like some leftover food, the chef tries to create a Chinese dish in a contemporary way (I think) but it's far too way from other Michelin Chinese chefs in town. I've been visiting Hong Kong very frequently and going to other Chinese restaurants, this is not the one that worthy to revisit I must say. The wait staff explained the dish to us when it's served, but the texture was tough and the taste was dull. My client told me that the head chef was quite young, she came here once before and she had a better food quality in her earlier visit. Overall from what I was served, I couldn't find any particular skill from the executive chef and nothing of the food concept seems have been thoroughly thought out as in a Chinese restaurant in 5 star JW. The only good part of the mean is the bill was paid by someone else.

We had very high hopes for the experience however I am afraid the overall service experience fell well short of my other Michellene star experiences in Hong Kong. While the serving staff were polite, I found them to be lacking in enthusiasm and distant and excessively formal but I do understand different restaurants have different service styles. However, my disappointment goes far beyond this. For example, we ordered the duck and to my surprise it came ready carved on a cold plate. Even in mid-price point restaurants I have always had the duck carved at my table, sometimes the first few duck rolls were prepared for me. The issues continued with an overall inattentive service. When I placed the papers separating the pancakes on the table, they remined there for a good 15 mins, several servers walked past unaware. Even worse the hand wipes we used remained on the table for the entire meal. At this stage I was thought perhaps I should have different expectations of Chinese stared restaurants. However, it really crossed the mark of unacceptability when desert was served. There were food crumbs on the table and my dessert plate was placed by the server on top of the food crumbs. Be aware of what you are getting average food for the price but really not worth the money. Lacking service and overall experience that might be better in a group. Portly trained and unconfident staff that struggle with language if you are not a Canto speaker. They did reply to my complaint apologising and saying they would into it but no real concrete action suggested or specific response to my individual concerns.

So bad it left me questioning the robustness of the Michelin criteria... Long story short, I am going to share my experience briefly: 1)        We felt rushed. We arrived at 8pm, and ordered 5 dishes. The first two dishes were served one by one, then all in the sudden, the waiter served the other three dishes in a short time… Even Worse a waiter served the dessert at 9:10pm while we were still savoring the food. (Not even clearing any plates away, a travel group meal???) I shared my feelings to your waiter, and your waiter said they had to do it because of the 10 pm curfew for restaurants. (Then set the last orders time at 7pm!) The service was so bad and the food got cold before we could finish them. Because of that, our mood was completely spoilt. We felt like we were having a group travel meal at your restaurant. 2)        There was no service at all. Not even refilling, clearing up the pates, etc. What’s the worst was there was no goodbye/ thank-you when we left. Omg.... Tell me, who want to pay HK$800 /head for this service ??

This is my 3rd dinner visit already at Man Ho Chinese Restaurant & the head chef Jayson Tang surprised me again! The signature Cha Siu didn’t disappoint me as always and the wagyu beef is so soft & juicy. I don’t eat abalone much usually but I find the two types of abalone on the menu surprised me a lot, especially the dried abalone with black mushroom dish! I am drooling while typing the review. The baked chicken and morel mushroom rice is so nice so nice, even all of us are 80% full already; I thought that the rice should be dry but then the moist of the rice with strong mushroom flavor makes me want to eat even more. Last but not least, the salted egg yolk creme brûlée is the highlight of the whole menu. I never tried something similar on earth, it has a really nice balance between western and Chinese cruise which shows the creativity and skill of the chef team. No joke but I am definitely coming back for my 4th visit very soon!! Chef Jayson is awesome!

My foodie friends and I tried Chef Jayson's new tasting menu with wine pairing. First came deep fried mashed lobster & taro crispy block. The rich lobster & salted egg yolk filling and crispy outer layer went well with Taittinger champagne. Next dish was steamed abalone with chrysanthemum. Needed to pretreat for 48 hours. A pot of chrysanthemum tea was poured on hot rocks inside a large clay pot and covered to "smoke" them further. Once uncovered, the aroma filled the restaurant. The fresh abalone had taste of Japanese bonito sauce, which was unique. The pairing sake was sweet. We were amazed by the jumbo Hokkaido scallop. Seared on top, the meaty jumbo scallop was evenly hot and tender. Carrot sauce and leaf-like kale perfected the presentation and taste. Next served was garoupa broth with mandarin peel and lemon leaf. Refreshing and delicious. Sauteed Miyazaki wagyu beef balanced by green peppers and St. George's mushrooms which absorbed beef essence and fat. Another highlight was braised South African dried abalone stacked on sliced black mushroom and winter melon. Chef Jayson provided a small bowl of Japanese rice to eat with the sauce. My friends loved the red wine pairing for this dish, Chateau Laforge, St. Emilio, Bordeaux 2001. For dessert, Chef Jayson added salted egg yolk into creme brulee to give it a Cantonese twist. Loved the dessert wine pairing. An enjoyable and lovely dinner. Highly recommended!

As one of the Chinese restaurants I frequently patron, I quickly realize that the food quality has not been maintained. The sauteed pawns and pan-fried garoupa are too salty covering up real favor of the sea food. It is a disappointment. However, I must say hat services and presentation are excellent.

It was the most disappointing and unpleasant dining experience you’d expect from a five-star hotel restaurant. Consistent poor and inconsiderate service from start to end. Our family went to Man Ho as a group of 11 for birthday celebration, incl. elderlies and a pregnant lady. First we were seated at a large round table without lazy-Susan turntable, and the elderlies have to stand up to pass around large dishes of chicken and pork. I would have expected that at a minimum the restaurant would offer to help distribute the food. BUT NO - No waiter has offered any help. Second we have ordered more than 15 dishes and throughout the meal there was no one to change our plates until we have requested that. Let alone no service, the waiters were rushing us to finish our meal. They started placing the petite four together with the birthday buns when there were still a few plates of unfinished savoury dishes on the table; and the same minute they passed us the bill. Each of us was given a new set of plate and utensils next to our existing plate and utensils. The table was a complete mess! Normally any Michelin starred restaurant would clear the savoury dishes, replace new plates and utensils before serving the birthday buns and petite four; not to mention the bill was served at the same time as the desserts. While I appreciate that we are subject to 1hr45mins meal time, neither the setting (without turntable) nor the service level are helping to create a pleasant dining experience within the time limit. Maybe Man Ho could be a better place for small groups, but I would definitely NOT recommend Man Ho for big groups or family gatherings. At such premium price, there are a lot much better options.

During my vacation to Hong Kong, I had to try Jayson Tang's cuisine at Man Ho restaurant inside the JW Marriott Hotel after all the food videos I saw on TV and the internet. The food and service during my dinner did not disappoint, service was impeccable and food was excellent on point. The dishes were delicious and the presentation was very pretty, the ingredients used were top notch. The presentation reminded me of the french restaurant L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon at the Landmark. I was happy that I met Jayson himself towards the end of my dinner, I can't wait to come back and will definitely add this restaurant to my "must go" list for my yearly trip back to Hong Kong!

JW Marriott's Chinese restaurant is always one of the best in town. Man Ho, now under a young executive chef, has many to offer. The menu is a blend of tradition and innovation. Food is top-notch with a touch of Japanese presentation. Duck tongue is a light starter. Baked crab shell with crab and lobster meat is fresh and solid. Sweet and sour pork, a creative remake of the Cantonese delicacy, is a must. Braised pomelo peel is rich and flavorful. Noodles with prawns is tasty and a bit spicy. Decor is cozy and spacious. Service is excellent. Price is upscale for sure but not excessive. In general, a very outstanding option.

The COVID-19 pandemic made our lives miserable. Now that we had single digit of confirmed cases, it's time to pamper myself, my husband & friends. Chef Jayson always amazed us with his nicely presented and well thought delicious dishes! I especially love the 2 lobster dishes and veggie one (a mini winter melon soup reconstructed!). All smiled after eating and this is exactly what we need to get going! Thanks Jayson and team for another wonderful dinner!

We are glad to have birthday celebration dinner for my mum at Man Ho which provided us touching warm service with tasty foods. With spacious seats and along with window view, it was very relaxing and free to chat and share the joy of great days with lovely family. We felt immersed into a pala! The servers were very responsive and they could take very nice group photos with my iPhone (very important!). The Peking duck is my favourite, do make order in advance. And crab shell is so crispy ! Just one picky thing: The parking brake was not functioning well, and I have told the parking service not to use the parking brake button. Unfortunately, I found the parking brake was “on” when they returned me the car. Maybe I need to post a post-it to remind them next time.
