We received an excellent service since we entered in this fusion decoration style restaurant. There are full of fancy Japanese and western picture in lobby. Perfect place for photo shooting. Their staff Alex patiently gave us a briefing on the menu and let us taste a bit when we were selecting wine. He is friendly and polite. Window seating were arranged for anniversary celebration with my wife. The stunning view outside Victoria Habor was great. Regarding the food, we ordered A3 Wagyu Sando 3 layer Bento set and Chirashi Don set. The Wagyu Sando is supreme delicious. A fried but juicy Wagyu was covered by toast sandwiches. I would recommend for sharing as the size is unlikely finished by 1 person. The Chirashi Don is a sashimi by chef selection over Edomae Rice. Sashimi is fresh and diversified like 6-8 different seafood in one set. Overall food quality is satisfactory, with perfect sea view sitting at a cozy place. Alex was polite and helpful, which we shall give a credit to their hospitality. The price is reasonable. Couple lunch with 2 glass of wine costs below USD300. Highly recommended this restaurant for celebration with love.

Had been to this restaurant from time to time but had always eaten from their à la carte menu until lately when we tried their bento sets whilst we stayed in the hotel and when restaurants and eateries were not allowed to open beyond 6 pm because of the then social distancing measures. My wife tried their 3 layered bento set which cost HK$428 whilst I had the Sashimi bento set which cost HK$628. The Sashimi in my set was so beautifully presented and was absolutely mouthwatering. The food in my wife’s set was plentiful, varied and assorted. For each set, they came with steamed egg cup at the start and dessert at the end. My wife and I were totally satisfied and felt the bento sets were really good deals! Taking into account the quality of the food, the freshness of the ingredients, the service, the décor, the vibe and the location, this is undoubtedly the best Japanese Izakaya to chill and to dine out.

First visit to (extremely hard to book) Aubrey was early July for a late dinner. Had table by the window overlooking Central waterfront, amazingly view. Menu was interesting and food quality such as appetizer items to sushi/sashimi to robata and dessert was above average and worth every penny paid. Drinks as recommended by other reviewers such as Yuzu highball and Singleton 12 year highball were awesome. When we finished dinner, Enrico, the GM of Aubrey greeted us. He was so hospitable & we immediately asked for another booking for my husband's birthday, i.e. 3 wks later. We were happy campers when we left. Yesterday, we went for birthday lunch. Seated at same table and Teresa was the waitress who served us. She was extremely warm and nice with a genuine conversation about what we could order, etc. We ordered something new this time, i.e. Wagyu Sando; Iberico Pork; some premium sushi and also the same highballs. We did not order dessert but to our surprise, Teresa came back with a spicy/sweet wine and a birthday dessert for my husband, and a greeting card from Enrico (who was not around yesterday). What a treat and pleasant surprise!! thanks to Enrico for remembering such details. Based on our years of travel in staying at different hotel groups, globally, MO is truly a leading organization that can proudly be named as Top luxury hotel group with an amazing group of staff ranging from all levels of management; service staff; F&B; hotel, etc. (same for MO Bangkok; MO Tokyo; MO Beijing; MO Milan; MO Paris; MO London; MO Hong Kong of course). Thanks to Enrico and Teresa and the staff that greeted and served us as well. We shall be back next month. Remark: As a Landmark Bespoke member, I hope Aubrey can join their program soon.

My wife and I are real Mandarin fans and visited under our staycation package . After all the hype about Aubrey we were was excited to try the set lunch bento box . I had even cancelled our favourite Mandarin Grill to try something new for change , but I am sorry we won’t be back to Aubrey . If you are looking for an overpriced bento lunch box that will leave you wanting more than this is the place for you . Yes , we understood the bento box concept but with below par sushi selection which was no better than Olivers and sub standard added entree for h$ 588 ++ we left very disappointed , empty stomachs and with dented wallets . I am not sure who is in charge of the pricing but The Mandarin Grill set lunch for 2 courses was just h$ 10 more , so for some reason you are being charged for the Japanese concept top floor setting and not for the quality . Even for that price desert / tea coffee was an added extra ! The seating arrangement also seemed strange for a top class location with our table for 2 placed in walk way which would have Fung Shui masters questioning the constant flow of diners passing us during lunch . We were also seated on chairs low enough for pre school children and not the most comfortable for our sort stay lunch . The manager was empathetic to the pricing and quality and we understand there maybe changes next month . I finished our lunch with a walk to Marks and Spencer to buy a sandwich which at least filled the hole in my stomach, just not so much the dent in my wallet for a very sub standard Mandarin experience. We did return for early evening cocktails which was a slight up lift . The house cocktail menu selection was good and was told that the cocktail hostess could make us any cocktail not on the menu . Unfortunately, my request for a ‘pornstar martini’ was declined . Maybe too Essex than Tokyo for The Aubrey ? We are still fans of the Mandarin but really felt let down with the whole Aubrey experience.

The place is situated within the Mandarin Oriental hotel, with nice decorations in Japonism themed art along the corridor as you enter the restaurant. It’s definitely an expensive place, but you’d already know that given where it is. The food is excellent - we enjoyed the oysters (fresh, tasty), and the wagyu tenderloin (juicy and right amount of fatty). The rice dishes (both wagyu oxtail and lobster uni) were very well done too. However the food came quite slow when we were there, with 20-30min interval between dishes.

Really nice interior design, but our evening was marred by a gaggle of instagram micro influencers posing like their lives depended on it in front of amateur photographers which was really tacky. The service on Saturday night was pretty awful considering the price, really arrogant and quite rude local male staff member. The music was way too loud as well. Not really an enjoyable experience and would not recommend overall unless you like superficial environments & paying too much for average food and service

Went for an anticipated evening of dinner and laughs at this newly renovated restaurant inside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. While the interiors are lovely and the bar / restaurant combined space, the food and especially the service left a lot to be desired. The place was busy for a week night. Seatings are every two hours and you are told in advance what time you need to leave by. But it took 15 minutes to get a drink after ordering it while everyone else’s arrived within 5 minutes. Then it took another 15 minutes to find someone who could take our order. This continued on with the evening where service was just completely lacking. The food was mediocre with the only highlight being the soba noodles and the wagyu beef. Nothing memorable about the rest. We tried for about 15min to try and find someone to order dessert and by the time someone came, we were told that they needed our table and could we please move. If service has been amazing, I wouldn’t have minded. We all thought that it was surprising that there could be such lacking service with MO standards but i found out later that a restaurant company is actually running these restaurants. Surprising that they got it so wrong. No desire to go back and would honestly tell people to find some other places to go first. And will definitely not go and visit their (same management company) Chinese restaurant if this is any indication of what service will be like. When I chatted to other friends, they all said they heard the same things about the food and restaurant.

A good friend invited me to dinner at The Aubrey. This modern izakaya takes over the space formerly occupied by Pierre. Nice decor, good ambience, spectacular view and professional service. The menu was relatively short. All the food which I’d was delicious (but not out of this world) and beautifully plated. The big problem was the price. It’s very expensive. Portions weren’t big so you’ll need to spend a lot in order to get full. Even taking into account that it’s Mandarin and the ingredients were top notch, it still didn’t justify the hefty price tag (see the menu). I was glad to have dined in this very upscale place which is talked about by many people recently. But I won’t go there again if I’ve to pay by myself. It’s simply poor value for money.

Had come here on 8th of June with my client for a business meeting. In all honesty I wasn’t aware the the M bar (originally on the top floor of the MO) had been renovate and this place had come up! So was a surprise. A Japanese style kind of entrance. Beautiful decor and very nice atmosphere. My client ordered the wine and I ordered the suntory bottled beer. For appetisers (if you come between 4 and 7 pm) they have a limited menu which is Japanese. We ordered the charcoal chicken and it was brilliant. Loved it! Service was also extremely good and courteous. I missed the name of the lady who waited our table but she was really sweet and helpful. The manager (Italian dude whose name I forgot again) was also really nice! Just one suggestion that I have for The Aubrey. You got to have some nice Japanese beers on the tap - (May be Suntory white & black, Kirin and a couple of others). Especially the Suntory black is one beer that goes so well with Japanese food. It will be a good compliment to your other bars (like Captains) which serve beers like Brooklyn, Asahi, Carlsberg and Captains bar beer. Overall a very nice place and would love to come back here!!

tunning Harbours view with lovely ambiance, professional service & friendly bartenders who love to give you suggestions on their drink list. Ensure to check out their delicious iconic cocktails and seasonal drinks... One of my hangout spots with friends! It’s such a gorgeous bar to chill out after work. Only one cons, the food isn’t impressive enough…to wow me yet, looking forward to trying their new dishes in the future

Came for the Japanese Oysters as recommended by the lovely Karen. But the menu had changed and they weren’t what I expected. I mentioned it to the host and then the manager Enriquo promised me next time they would do their best to get the fat oysters that I preferred. Then to my surprise my wonderful server, Chilito, brought me some beautiful fat and tasty Japanese oysters that the kitchen had managed to find. I was so pleased. This restaurant or izekaya in Hong Kong is the best. 5 stars for Karen, Enriquo, Chilito, and the kitchen chefs!🥳🥳

Fantastic food - unbelievable cocktails and service. Fatty tuna sushi was better than in Japan, the scallops was encapsulated in jelly which wasn’t to our liking. Not only did the manager apologize and not charge for it, we were offered a complimentary cocktail to finish off the experience. Above and beyond by global standards, unheard of in Hong Kong

We came here not realising it was their second day of opening. All staff (bar staff, sommeliers and waiters) were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and eager to please. Each dish was impressive but would highly recommend the 10g Aubrey caviar, Japanese oysters and miso soufflé. Could not fault it and will be back.

New venue in Hong Kong and it was amazing to be able to try it. The cocktails of Devender are fantastic, well balanced and eyes catching. The food is fantastic we really enjoyed the selection of sushi/maki/sashimi. Sofia was amazing, she took care of us so well. She is very attentive, caring, and her smile behind the mask make us feel warmly welcomed. Truly a place to be in Hong Kong. Big thank you to Enrico, Devender and their amazing team. We will definitely come back.

Had a lovely Saturday evening dinner...we were originally seated in the room at the far end from the bar, which was nice but lacked atmosphere as it had a small window for the view & felt removed from the rest of the restaurant. The lady serving us told us she would let us know if a bar seat become available & they kindly moved us half way through our meal & it was a far nicer place to sit. Service wise - amongst the best in HK..the italian sommelier was helpful without being snooty...the cocktail lady at the bar was chatty & friendly when i asked questions about her wizardry of concoctions & the waitress serving us knew the menu inside out - which is a rarity in HK.. Everything we ordered was lovely, with my favourites being Charcoal Chicken Karaage & their signature Kagoshima Wagyu Sando. The Aubrey is a very easy place to hang out after dinner & relax as well...the decor is very cool with the only oddity being the silly curtains at the entrance which whilst paying homage to Izakaya's, is out of kilter with the rest of the decor ( awkward first impression for guests not knowing which side to stand). Meal for 2 with 1 bottle of wine & some cocktails was 3500 HKD ( $450 USD, 50/50 food/alcohol split)

Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
