Best place for fancy brunch in town

This is our favourite place in town for a fancy brunch! All time favourite! We always go for the SOMMkind of Brunch which includes free flow of sparkling wine, cocktail and juices! And coffee as well. The food changes from time to time. The starter is always yummy and satisfying! Talking about the main course , the pigeon pithivier with foie gras is highly recommended. This dish is very complex and you don’t get to eat this everywhere! You need to pay extra for this dish but it’s worth the money. Dessert is nice. The chocolate soufflé is a popular and safe choice. However sometimes we will go for something less heavy after a big feast :)

SOMM never disappoints me < 3

I revisited SOMM because I couldn't stop thinking about one of my favourite dishes mussels with sea urchin sauce! It's a pity that the mussels was out of menu the day i came. Yet, all the staff was very welcoming! Every dishes surprised me. I especially love the lobster with chive mayo paired with the wine recommended by the caring sommelier. It's a perfect date night. Atmosphere was great. I am looking forward to next exciting food journey at SOMM.

Nice brunch

Both the variety and quality of food were good. I particularly liked: - sesame croissant cube - Kadaifi fried “KIN” egg with smoked pike perch roe - beef tenderloin and foi gras pithivier (worth the supplement of HK$598 for 2) - hash browns (one of the best I’ve tried in Hong Kong). My friend and I had the Royale Brunch and the staff were quick to top up our champagne. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

A bit disappointed

I’ve been to SOMM many times (breakfast, brunch and dinner) since it opened in 2019. I tried its supper for the first time with a friend last Saturday. Poultry and foie gras pâté en croute, a starter which has been on the menu of the restaurant for years, was delicious as always. There’re 3 choices for main course (i.e. beef cheek, amberjack and lamb leg). Since I wanted to have something light and rarely eat lamb, I took the fish. Not sure if it’s due to the quality of the ingredient or the fact that the fish was overcooked, the flesh was very dry. When I mentioned the problem to a male staff, he’s very apologetic and offered to redo the dish for me or change it to beef cheek. I took the second option in the end. The beef cheek main course was so much better although it wasn’t something which I originally wanted. For dessert, I’d roasted apricots with green almonds and blanc manger. It’s quite good. However, I wish I’d chosen chocolate soufflé which according to my experience would have been so much better. The price for supper included 90 minutes free flow on pre-selected champagne, white and red wine and sake. We started with champagne. The first glass wasn’t cold enough at all. Since it’s free flow anyway, I didn’t say anything to the staff. The second glass was ok. No one asked us whether we’d like any other drink when we’d our starters or main courses. We needed to ask to be served other alcohol. A forgettable dining experience overall.

Away!!!!!! I ate at the Landmark Mandarin Hotel in Hong Kong, and the average per capita consumption was over 1,000 yuan. But the taste was hard to describe. Only two dishes were good, and most of them were quite unpalatable. The chef here recommends: sea urchin toast. The sea urchin is not fresh and sweet. The sweetness of the toast does not match the taste of the sea urchin, and the match is a bit far-fetched. The sea urchin has a little fishy and bitter taste! It's a foreigner making Japanese food! I definitely don't recommend it. The salad is very fresh! . The cheese toast tastes very unpleasant, the toast is too oily, and the cheese is not fragrant! The barbecued pork tastes very bad and is soft and fluffy. Maybe this is also the taste of foreigners! The Australian lobster should be frozen lobster, not fresh at all, and the sauce is not matched. It's a bit unpalatable. I only ate one bite and gave up. Hmm! The best thing is the quail with foie gras Wellington, which tastes very good. If you have to eat here. I think I will only order salad and foie gras Wellington. Dessert? I was extremely disappointed and even felt like I had hit rock bottom. The green tea Tiramisu tasted very strange and made me feel sick after taking a bite. The chef recommended it. The chocolate soufflé was not surprising at all and the taste was not pleasing. On the contrary, the free chocolate cake was quite normal! The coffee tasted okay. In short, I don't recommend anyone to eat here. Low cost performance, average environment, and very bad food taste.

Experience in Hong Kong

The restaurant is a little hidden on the 7th floor, the ambience is dignified and very stylish! We were in the SOMM on a stopover in HK and were completely unfamiliar with the concept. The manager explained everything to us, it was a little more special and not run-of-the-mill - definitely a special experience. Great location for business lunches or candlelight dinners etc. Due to the limited number of seats, I would recommend making a reservation at the weekend or in the evening. The service was fantastic, you were really seen as a guest and not just as a € note. Everyone was really very attentive! The food was great, that's how you imagine Michelin. If you see food as an experience, you're in good hands here!

Early dinner

I’d early dinner in SOMM since there’s no dine-in service after 18:00. I arrived on time at 16:00. However, we’d to wait for about 15 minutes in a small area outside the restaurant together with other customers before our table was ready. The restaurant was full in the beginning, Even all bar seats were taken. As the restaurant is small, it’s extremely noisy like a market. Fortunately, some customers left during the course of our meal so the noise became a little more tolerable. I hadn’t been to SOMM for quite some time. The food was still good although the former chef de cuisine Mario Paecke had left to work in Margo in The Galleria. I’d pâté en croûte, Japanese pork belly and chocolate soufflé with cacao sorbet. They’re all very delicious. And HK$688 for 3 courses with a glass of wine and unlimited Nordaq water was very reasonable. There’s room for improvement for the service. In addition to the waiting time (which reflected bad management), the server who came to pour us wine had no idea who’d ordered which wine. And more than once I’d to ask the staff to refill my water. Even though the food was good, I’d only give 3 stars considering the service and the dining environment.

Amazing brunch

We came here for their signature brunch. The atmosphere is wonderful. Staff are all very nice and helpful. They explained the menu to us in detail and ask if any food allergy that they need to be aware of. This is a very thoughtful act. Food came course by course without any rush. Appetisers is a great start for this brunch. We are all amazed with the croissant. I will rate it the bestttt in town. Aka uni French toast is a MUST try if you are a fan of uni. The uni are sooooo fresh. For main course, the trout is pan fried with crispy skin and juicy meat. Yummy!!! The dessert is a highlight of the day. Specially thanks to Terry Lee for his great service and arrangement for today. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like to spend a relaxing brunch with friends and your beloved one.

Wine bar extraordinaire

Simultaneously convivial and refined, SOMM at the Landmark is a perennial favourite in a city full of excellent wining and dining. Displaying a formidable array of both classic and unusual vintages, the wine list is very much the star of the show. Nevertheless, as it shares a kitchen with two-Michelin-starred Ember next door, the food here is certainly not to be missed. The menu ranges from relaxed brasserie fare to a few splashes of hedonistic luxury, making for a fun and engaging meal. Of course, the restaurant being part of a flagship Mandarin Oriental property brings with it an immaculate level of service. The staff are friendly, polite, and exacting in all the right ways, rounding out a fantastic experience.

A must try! - Wine journey with impeccable service and food to pair.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this little gem of a restaurant at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, and it certainly did not disappoint! First off, the ambience is super cozy and elegant: worthy of a special night with your loved ones. From start to finish, the hostesses, servers and managers were ever so polite, welcoming and attentive. What I realised during this meal was that this restaurant is for everyone, and not only for devoted wine lovers. SOMM really is the place where guests can come to learn and indulge in the world of wine & sake, regardless of their background knowledge. This was evident in the level of care the team gave us when explaining the notes and heritage of each bottle & each wine growing region. It was both fun, educational and eyeopening. Food-wise, I personally recommend ordering the Aka Uni French Toast and the Scallop dishes. I especially fell in love with the Taiwanese corn that they used to pair with the scallops. How can a simple ingredient be so extraordinary! I visited this place with a friend of mine who loves mussels, and he was also really impressed with the Morisseau Bouchot Mussels in white miso & uni butter sauce. All in all, the team who runs this place certainly put a great deal of attention to detail in sourcing their ingredients, in their wine collection, and especially in each guest. I will definitely make another trip back to this lovely place, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

I don’t usually do reviews but I just have to share about the amazing experience I had at Somm One of the best aspects was the amazing service! It started off with being guided to our seats by a very friendly and cheerful hostess! After we settled down, our waiter made sure we made the best of our experience by describing and recommending dishes that we may enjoy. We ended up ordering uni French toast , French Oyster, pigeon & Foie Gra Pithivier and Souffle we recommend everyone to try it out as well, the complexity of flavours were nothing like I’ve had before, absolutely stunning food. Our sommelier made the perfect recommendation for wine that just pairs so well with the food it just added to the already great experience we were having! I absolutely can’t wait to come back and would like to thank everyone at Somm for the wonderful meal!

Fantastic dining experience!

This is one of my best dining experiences at SOMM, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong for dinner in April. I am amazed by the exquisite dishes and fantastic service. I love the scallop and soufflé, with nice presentation and delicious. Last but not least, I would like to say thank you to Monna who patiently and professionally explain the menu to us and recommend us some signature dishes according to our preferences. And also thank you Jimmy and Andrew for their professionalism and hospitality. It was a lovely dinner experience! I highly recommend SOMM to foodies and I would definitely come back soon.

I had lunch with my family in SOMM today, staff Jimmy proactively approached us and offered good food recommendation to us by showing us some photos to describe, super professional and impressive!!! First time to order lobster and Raw scallop🤩🤩🤩!!! so refreshing !! All food quality are so good, highly recommended! Besides, Staff Monna is very attractive, she heard that my mum loves bread so much, then she gave us one more bread basket without asking. Thank you for the Excellent service from Jimmy and Monna ! 🥰
