This time is my second time visiting L’Envol, still one of the best dining experience I had in Hong Kong fine dining scene. The signature menu is impeccable as usual. There was not a single dish that made me feel disappointed or extra. Specially the...uni one, the taste is unforgettable. As this time is a birthday celebration (which I mentioned when I booked the table), the pastry team created two small cakes (one is mango, one is earl grey) which not on the menu and taste incredibly delicious. From the moment you walked in, the classy, elegant, professional and warm service just shower you until the end. Incredible service from Habe, Carmen. Excellent wine choice from Louis. The team even noticed that I was feeling a bit chilly and sent a female staff to offer me a scarf. Really appreciated and touched. You can feel the harmony between the team. I recently visited L'Envol for lunch, and it was awesome! The whole experience was top-notch, and the wine pairing was an absolute highlight. First things first, the place had such a nice vibe. It had a classy yet relaxed atmosphere, and the staff was friendly...and attentive. They made me feel like a VIP throughout the meal, and their knowledge about the food and wine was really impressive. Now, let's talk about the food, it was incredible! Every dish was like a masterpiece. The presentation was Instagram-worthy for sure. Each bite was a flavor explosion that left me wanting more. Love the seasonal tomato butter with the selection of bread. Also the carabineros are cooked to absolute perfection, (of course) with caviar on top. Please make sure you taste every part of the prawn, including the head! You don’t want to regret about not having it! And the wine pairing was mind-blowing! The sommelier did know their stuff and picked out the perfect wines to go with each course. Trust me, it took the whole experience to a whole new level. The wines complemented the food so well. I specifically like the Château Simone.It was outstanding and it was like a party in my mouth with every sip. If you're up for a special treat, make sure you check out this Michelin 2-star restaurant. I had an amazing experience at L'envol, and from the moment I arrived, I felt like I should have discovered this place much earlier. The lunch, lasting almost 2 hours, was filled with highlights that I lost count. One of the standout features was the...super attentive service team. Derek, a handsome Eurasian gentleman, noticed my slight disappointment with the tuna dish and made up for it with a Picasso-esque tomato salad paired with refreshing tamarillo sorbets. Vittoria, a beautiful Italian-French lady, oversaw my dining experience and engaged me in lovely small talks. Jake, the skillful sommelier, and the two hostesses who handled my reservation also deserve a shout-out for their care and attention. Apart from the outstanding service, the food at L'envol was at the heart of the experience and felt almost like a ceremonial affair. The canapes to start included crackers, tuna tarts, and gazpachos, while the mignardises to finish off the meal were delightful with cupcakes, macarons, taffy candy, chocolate nuggets, and more. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy both lobster and tenderloin in a single lunch, thanks to L'envol's specially crafted restaurant week menu. The blue lobster in bouillabaisse consumme and the Kagoshima A4 tenderloin were both perfect in their own right. However, I found the rhubarb sauce accompanying the tenderloin a bit redundant. As for dessert, I've always loved sorbets, and though it took me a little while to appreciate the specialty of sable (the shortbread biscuit below), the grape sorbet was highly palatable and added a refreshing summer touch to the meal. Overall, L'envol met my expectations of a Michelin two-star restaurant with its unerring consistency. The restaurant's roomy dining area, impeccable service, innovative dishes (though some didn't work out as well), and highly responsive team have secured a spot in my heart for fine dining in Hong Kong. I highly recommend L'envol for anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary experience.More

Our group of 8 had dinner at L’Envol for some celebration. Our host booked a private room. I wasn’t really hungry and the 6-course Signature Menu should be enough for me. However, I didn’t wish to miss out on the Hokkaido sea urchin and gamberoni...prawn dish. I therefore opted for the 8-course Signature Menu. Every dish was beautifully presented. Hokkaido sea urchin and gamberoni prawn box was the most impressive in terms of flavour, texture and presentation. The sublime roasted Iberico pork pluma was only second to it. Brittany blue lobster with bouillabaisse consommé was also very delicious. Lemon soufflé with roasted fennel purée was refreshing. However, some dishes didn’t taste as good as they looked. Chalorais beef tartare was very bland. Ombrine came with so much sauce that I’d hardly taste the natural flavour of the fish. The selections of bread, cheese and desserts weren’t as large as the size of each of the impressive-looking carts where they’re displayed suggested. To my disappointment, Comté was only 36 instead of 48 months old. The food on the whole was good. However, the decor, ambience, comfort level and service were even better. P.S. The staff were well versed in what they did and introduced every dish clearly. Interestingly, none of them ever asked us how our food was during our 4-hour dinner.More

Our dinner at L'Envol was an otherworldly experience. Each dish in the tasting menu was a masterpiece in its own right, raising the bar from the previous one. Another visit to L’Envol and this was one of the best experience I had so far in this restaurant. We can see that the level of cuisine and service raised and I believe that is just the beginning still. The new dishes created by Chef...Olivier Elzer and his Chef de Cuisine were perfectly executed. We have to highlight as well the amazing desserts from the Executive Pastry Chef Steven. We had an amazing wine pairing and we thank Mr Pommier for all the explanations about the wines we tried that day. I recommend 100% to go to L’Envol if you want to discover what is a Fine Dining Michelin Star restaurant.More

英語での記述の後に、日本語での記述を乗せています。 Beautiful French, while the service was terrible, the worst one ever in my life. Unfortunately, I got involved in the payment issue…the detail is as below. First, the sommelier told me to choose Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) or Japanese Yen (JPY) for the payment,...so I marked HKD and told him as such. Nevertheless, it was settled by JPY, converted at a terrible rate (approx. USD 20 higher than the payment by HKD). (I suppose it was a human error, though L'Envol explained it as a banking issue.) I noticed this wrong charge when I was still at L'Envol, so pointed it out. Then they decided to double charge in HKD, and to refund the JPY payment. In order to proceed with the refund process, they told me to submit the evidence that the JPY payment was really withdrawn from my bank account, so needed to submit my transaction details (i.e. personal information) to St. Regis. The refund process didn't go smoothly because it had to go through the Chinese bank of St. Regis’s account and the bank of my account (Sony Bank). So I had to keep communicating with both L'Envol and Sony Bank for a week till the refund was made, then lost a few hours as a total. Since I could imagine such troublesome, I had asked them to refund me in cash while I stayed in Hong Kong, however they rejected, explaining it is against St. Regis' internal policy. When it was refunded 1 week later, I told that to L'Enervol and St. Regis, however they didn't even reply me! (Off course no compensation, which is generally offered by restaurants caused troubles, even much lighter one than this case.) I thought it was very rude, and symbolizes how L'Envol and St. Regis are like. I was surprised and disappointed at St. Regis, and hope it is an exception only in Hong Kong. セントレジスホテル香港最上階にある、ミシュラン二つ星レストラン。美しい写真に魅かれて行ってみた。 実際内装も料理もとても美しかった。 一方でサービスは驚きの低レベル、今までの人生で体験した中で最悪。運悪く、お会計時トラブルに巻き込まれ、L‘Envol側の対応が↓。 支払いは香港ドルか日本円か選ぶ必要があると言われ、香港ドルにマークしてサービススタッフに伝えた。 にもかかわらず、かなり悪いレートで換算された日本円で決済された(3000円程度高くなるレート)。(スタッフのミスだと私は思うが、L‘Envolはシステム上の問題だと一貫して説明した。) その場で気づいたのでL‘Envolに指摘したところ、香港ドルで重ねてチャージされ、日本円での支払い分は返金処理する形になった。 返金処理を進めるため、本当に日本円で決済されたというエビデンスを提出しろと言われ、私の取引明細(個人情報)まで、セントレジスに提出させられた。 その返金処理は、セントレジスの口座のある中国の銀行と、私の口座の銀行(ソニーバンク)を通す必要があるので、スムーズにはいかなかった。 なので返金されるまでの1週間ちょっと、L‘Envolとソニー銀行両方と連絡を取り続けなくてはならず(主にソニー銀行からアドバイスいただいた処理をL‘Envolにしていただくため)、トータルで2.3時間対応するはめになった。 この際もL‘Envolの対応は、基本的にレスが遅く、いかに責任逃れするかにフォーカスしているかが透けて見える、感じの悪いものだった。 このような面倒になることは想像がついたので、現金で返金していただくよう現地でL‘Envolに依頼もしたが、セントレジスの社内規定に違反するとのことで却下された。 返金後L‘Envolとセントレジスに返金された旨伝えたところ、そのメールに返信すらなかった。 とても失礼で、そしてL‘Envolとセントレジスの在り方を象徴していると思った。 セントレジスには幻滅。香港のセントレジスが特別なのか、それとも世界中のセントレジスどこでもこのレベルなのか。。More

The dining experience in L'Envol was far beyond our imagination! My wife and I had lunch for birthday celebration and we certainly were amazed by the exceptional quality of food and personalized service. We have dined at some famous Michelin-starred restaurants in town, I can...confidently say L'envol is definitely on the top of the list. At the moment we entered the restaurant, we were immediately impressed by the interior of the restaurants which created an elegant and comfortable ambience. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel right at home. The real star of the show was the food. Each course was a work of art, beautifully presented and well explained when they were served to the table. We had one of Chef Elzer's signature dishes, The Hokkaido Sea Urchin Box. It was served on the gamberoni prawn tartare together with crunchy fennel. The taste was sophisticated yet balanced. The portion was generous but I definitely craved for more. Another highlight was the Razor Clams with Caviar, the pairing of the two ingredients with the pressed caviar cream was just perfect. It was one of the best dishes I have ever tried. The pastry chef prepared a special cake "Soleil de Nice" for our birthday celebration. The combination of vanilla rice pudding and fresh pomelo gave a balance and refreshing taste, and you would be surprised by the popping candy on the tip of your tongue. The service was impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly, without being overbearing. Especially thanks to Antoine, Habe and Carmen (just to name a few) for telling the stories about the wine and food and making us felt like home. Perfect meal linking creativity to respect of the product. The Chef has clearly an outstanding capacity to master all new culinary skills but this never becomes prominent and never prevents the original taste of the product to shine. We have been going to Hong Kong for some years now, as foodies, and have dined at some of the fine restaurants there. This time too, we dined in a few, 1, 2 and 3 Michelin stared restaurants. We were blown away by the experience...at L' Envol at St Regis Hotel. Although it is a 2 starred Michelin restaurant, the dining experience was superlative. Everything, from service, food, wine and the chef coming to greet the guests towards the end of the meal was a treat. If you love caviar, you will be blown away. Don't miss the dish of bamboo clams with caviar. Way to go Chef Olivier Elzer. Shabash!More
