Mixed feelings. L’Envol is well designed and nicely decorated. The service was good. Tifffany at reception gave a warm and friendly greeting. Tristan, the head sommelier was very knowledgable and extremely helpful. He impressed us as not being the type to automatically default to the most famous or most expensive choice, but instead would select or recommend a wine that he thought tasted good, and matched the food well. For our meals, we chose the Signature menu in advance, and the restaurant was very accommodating about menu changes and substitutions. They even agreed to print the special birthday occasion on our menus. The food was quite good, but honestly cannot say it was outstanding. Our sea urchin course and our beef course were both delicious and memorable, however our sea scallop course was incredibly salty. The cheese selection was very extensive. We were disappointed that although we noticed chef Olivier was there, he didn’t bother to make any table rounds during our seating. Considering our bill for 5 persons was over 20K, and it was a special occasion, it would have been nice to have been personally greeted by the chef. In fairness, the meal was not bad, but unfortunately it did not meet our expectations based on some of the glowing reviews we have read here, and also considering L’Envol was awarded one Michelin star.

My partner and I loved everything about L'Envol during our first visit and we still do. Every staff was extremely professional and kind. We felt a very warm welcome by everyone at L'Envol. We were very impressed by their ability to recall what we had during our last visit . It was clear that they have done their homework before hand. This time we decided to come here to celebrate my mother in law's birthday and we were a little bit disappointed about the experience. The food were as exceptional as always but there were 2 misses during this visit. First, my partner asked our server to serve our tea and coffee along with the dessert since we all enjoy having them at the same time but that didn't happen. When the dessert arrived the drinks weren't there, in fact they didn't arrive until we finished our dessert. Secondly, we bought dining vouchers before hand and asked the back office to send them to the restaurants directly and have it ready when we check out and again that didn't happen. The vouchers weren't there when the check arrived. I was asked to leave the restaurant and go pick it up from the front office. When I told our server about my request earlier she told me due to privacy issue I will need to go pick up myself which was strange because I've just visited the drawing room weeks ago and they delivered the same voucher request perfectly. They restaurant said they couldn't find my booking since the booking was made under my partner's name but when I place my order, I've specified all the details regarding the reservation to the back office in the email and clearly they've completely missed it. It was really awkward talking about the vouchers in front of birthday girl I wish they could have handled it better.

So we went to L'Envol for lunch, as part our staycation at the St Regis. Not part of the package, but they managed to squeeze us in. From the Great Room, to the left of the reception, up a spiral staircase you enter the realm of chef Oliver Elzer, whom most will know in HK from his time at Pierre, Atelier Robuchon and Seasons. This new restaurant did not disappoint, with its attentive, and knowledgeable service.
The lunch is a set at at 700, 800, 900 depending on courses, but the add ons soon has it mounting up.
We started with the 5 spiced tuna which was light and refreshing, but did not compare to the razor clam dish. The saltiness of the accompanying oscietre caviar offset the sweet poached cold razor clans perfectly. The showed a selection of caviars that they have, including the Qingdao Kaluga, it would have been a great idea to have a selection of the 5 caviars in the dish, to compare and contrast.
The main course, was a whole chefs roast jaune chicken that was presented on a smoked bed of hay, and then portioned with accompanying vegetables. The crisp skin, with a touch of salt and the perfectly rendered fat, to leave a moist succulent bird. Even at an extra hkd380 per person, with a caramelized onion chicken jou was really worth it. The chef believed the locally sourced chicken, crisped better than imported birds. The sourcing of local high quality product should be actively encouraged.
To end we had a mango sorbet, with passion fruit, and mango cream tart, and a real twist on a pear mielle feuille, where instead of layers the pastry was a in the firm of a tube, creating a far lighter than normal dish.
This is Elzer back to his very best, and more stars are sure to follow.

I organised a dinner for my wife and I, and another couple with whom we were close friends. We are in our late 50's, no doubt we have seen much of what fine dining has to offer. The staff are young, tall, and polite, but apprehensive, and over-eager to react to customers' responses.... lack of confidence if I may say so.
We chose the Prestige menu for 4, featuring Caviar of various grades, a little ostentatious, but excessive in that in almost all the dishes, food is mixed with Caviar, cooked version of Caviar. My personal interpretation was that cooked Caviar distorted its taste. For the eventual bill of some 15,000 HK dollars ( USD 1,930 ) for that evening, I was disappointed. I feel like I did not share the same taste buds as the Michelin starred chef. Nonetheless, the Sommelier was good and offered great knowledge on Champagne, and good help. Finally my advice is not to pick the most expensive Prestige menu.

I rated this restaurant low because for a 2 Michellin stars and the price, some important things far from it’s expected or even average level.
Even though very attentive and polite staff, after ordering we waited for 90% of our plates more than 20 minutes, and with a dirty empty plate in front of us, which was unacceptable. Luckily we ordered a bottle of Champagne so we could sip in between meals.
One plate they served only to husband, and it was not the dish he ordered, while i stayed without, watching.
We also ordered a very big tomahawk steak, which was presented beautifully in a wooden box with smoke coming out, which then they took back to the kitchen cut and when served came as 3 thin little slices (only meat, not even one veggie or other side). When asked where did all the amazing meat dissaper, they answered it was like this for presentation-the rest was UGLY..? Needles to say part of the slices served were fat, and the fillet was thrown away :(
On the positive note, deserts were amazing, specially the sphere, interior is very beutiful, and staff very polite!

The restaurant, as a whole, is bright and airy and is a very welcoming and comfortable space. Our visit was a lunch on a weekday for a party of four and we had the “Allure” lunch menu. The food was delicious and we enjoyed it very much. Particularly, we liked the grilled red prawn, the monkfish as well as the roasted chicken. All in all, the food was exquisite, sublime, and not overly rich.
The service, though, was a big question mark. The staff was warm and engaging at the beginning and throughout the first half of the meal – but then, it went downhill pretty quickly after the main course. Specifically, 1. The Sommelier never showed us the wine list and only came by our table when we were already eating the main course; 2, The "at your preference” cheese plate came "pre-selected" without asking us whether we want to take a look at the cheese selection; and 3. No mention of the Petite Fours cart when the waitstaff served us the coffee and it didn't come by our table until we finished our coffee and asked for the bill.

I had wanted to dine at the St Regis since it was opened in Hong Kong last April. On 1 May 2020, my husband and I had lunch at this restaurant. The service was impeccable. The ambience was good and very suitable for a business lunch. My husband liked the skate which was very properly panfried. My aged steak 🥩 was not bad but the presentation of the appetisers and the cheese platter were at the standards of a good restaurant but not up to fine dining. The Sommelier Phenol Mak was very helpful & recommended very drinkable white & red 🍷.

An absolutely fantastic experience. Food, ambiance, service. Amazing. I have been fortunate enough to try many of the other Michelin starred restaurants in HK. Some lived up to expectations while others didn’t. L’Envol, however, blew away my expectations on every level imaginable and is currently by far the very best French fine dining restaurant in Hong Kong in my humble opinion. Even though L’Envol has only been open for a few months, they still managed to score a Michelin Star rating which is an amazing feat in itself and speaks to the tremendous standard on offer. Congratulations to the team at L’Envol. As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, I will be back at L’Envol.

We came to try L‘Envol for a lunch experience after hearing so much about this one Michelin starred restaurant. What can I say, it was exquisit! We opted in for the wine pairing set lunch which was recommended by their wonderful Manager Irina who looked after our table. The quality of food is top class but what makes this restaurant extra special is the personal touched the service staff add, especially their attention to detail. We never felt overwhelmed with the service as at no time it was intrusive yet very observant whenever we needed anything. Irina was extremely knowledgeable on the menu & her presence made the entire experience flawless. This restaurant is by far one of the best dining experiences here in HK and deserves even more than the one Michelin. We will be back.

L'Envol is getting better and better everytime I have the chance to dine there.
The Service provided by the team of the restaurant Manager Edouard is one of the best in Hong Kong.
The food from Olivier is great, and he will always make sure to spend time to explain some of his dishes, this is very rare to experience that in Hong Kong.
The wine list from Tristan is superb with many possibilities to enjoy yourself without spending too much, definitely one of the best wine list in HK.

Superb, outstanding, top notch. Everything about our lunch for two was great - the food (highlights were the razor clams, the steak and the cheese trolley), the wine, the service (particularly the assistant sommelier) and the atmosphere. Defiantly worth a visit, but probably best for a special occasion (it ain’t cheap). We will be back.

I can’t think of many other places in HK where you feel like a king for those very special hi urs that you’ll spend at their venue.
Don’t miss the sommeliers recommendations that will usually bring fruits & surprises.

Unexpectedly found this restaurant and so happy we did! The food is exquisite, sublime, delicious.. not overly rich. We took a 5 course menu and enjoyed every bit of it. I especially loved that chef didn’t overdo with mixing with too many Asian flavors and i could enjoy European authentic cuisine.
And last but not least, the service was impeccable. The sommelier, very friendly and knowledgeable, every time gave an excellent recommendation, wines were excellent every time. And Irina who made us feel welcome and comfortable, was very attentive but discreet, just perfection!
We’ve tried a lot of restaurants with stars in HK but this one really stands out. A lot of compliments to the chef and we hope to return soon for a new menu!

Genuine, modern and yet warm.
The smiling and professional team spend so much time to share about each dishes and wine pairing it almost felt like they were here only for us !
Special thanks to chef Olivier who personally came to enhance dishes experience and to the great sommelier for the wine pairing with amazing champagne.

I reserved for lunch in Dec. I couldn't believe I was given a table next to toilet & the server's working station! Then came the lack of proactive attitude by a few servers expected of any Michelin Star restaurant. The standard of the general service was just below par! They did not even react very well to our requests, kind of slow and wandering. They look like they re pretty green (not just one but a few of them). I could not recall anyone possessing a decent pleasant service. Food was great: Chef's Roast yellow chicken was well-liked by my guests. The complimentary mini desserts was a good surprise although it made us wait for half an hour after at least 3 repeated reminder. All in all, disappointing lunch and definitely not worthy of Michelin two-star restaurant.
