Cosy restaurant with great ambience. Delicious indian food cooked in innovative ways such that you will taste familiar flavours and think you've had a similar dish before but yet can't put a finger on what it was. There's a modern presentation with traditional flavours and...More

We booked for the first setting at 6.30pm and were so excited to get a table. The anticipation was rewarded. We sat outside in the very cool little back street which has a calm (for HK) charm. The service was excellent from start to finish,...More

We went to Blacksalt to celebrate my husband’s birthday. And were were completely taken aback by the originality of the dishes available in the menu. As a huge fan of Indian food (and with Indian in laws), I have eaten many incredible Indian meals. This...More

Tartan and Sheila Chadha are magnifying the Asian food, with Indian cuisine at the core. My friend and I shared 4 « short plates » (more than enough) and enjoyed them all. All of them were surprising and different from what we commonly find in HK restaurants....More

We ate at the bar which allowed us to see into, and smell, the open kitchen. We had 3 dishes between the two of us and we left stuffed. The lamb rhapsody was lovely but the Madras Candied Bacon on the Chindian Char Siu was...More

As per review of Oct 17th, almost the same experience. Some good flavors - fish cakes are very good and Okra fries work! But the rest - more work needed to get the flavor burst you’d expect from this type of fusion. All looks good...More

Description
A stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of the city, tucked away in the quiet nook of Sai Ying Pun, you will find BlackSalt - a humble, intimate and innovative restaurant with a homely touch. Founded by Chef Taran Chadha and his wife Sheela, BlackSalt is driven by flavours representative of the Chef’s heritage, shaken up with a modern twist of the Indian subcontinent. Using only the freshest premium ingredients and seasoned with home-made masala spices, BlackSalt's dishes are inspired mostly by Nepalese, Bengali and Sri Lankan cuisine. Its hearty food with deep blends of Southeast Asian and European flavours is made for sharing, and is served from an open kitchen where you can watch the action. While the atmosphere at BlackSalt is contemporary, fun and inventive, the food has the authenticity of tried and true traditional recipes. No matter what your culinary preferences are - roasts, vegan or vegetarian - there will be a dish to suit your mood.
