For the amount we paid we were highly disappointed with the service and quality of food. We later found another restaurant which served a whole duck with better ingredients service at half the price. The duck was good but the fresh ingredients that came with...it were wilted and looked like it had been sitting out for some time. The staff also looked like they could not be bothered with us and we felt extremely unwelcomed. I highly recommend going else where the locals eat.More

This place was just around the corner from our hotel so walking distance. What a great find! We were able to communicate well with staff using the picture menu to point and order. Traditional duck dish was so succulent and the price for service and...food excellent. Recommended.More

Trip to Beijing without trying their famous peking roast duck is imperfect. Xiao DaDong is one the highly popular restaurants that serves great roast duck with a smaller portion at reasonable price. I just ordered this half duck set meal and it's filling for 1...person. The meal ends with a complimentary ice cream too.More

Both times the duck was cooked perfectly, the side dishes crisp and tasty, the salads innovative but the service a little slow - still they always seem to be busy. The duck was ok, but nothing spectacular, a bit of a challenge to order in English. The atmosphere in the restaurant is like sitting in a giant high ceiling ballroom, if not a train station. Broad menu offering various dishes apart from the roast duck...with reasonable pricing. Don’t try and order wine here, stick to pointing at the menu with your finger. You have to have Peking Duck when you are in Beijing and we were very happy to have it at Da Dong. It was very busy and worth the wait. The duck is carved before being brought to the table, which was a nice touch.

My wife and I had tried Peking duck a number of times over the years, with various degrees of satisfaction but when we were offered the opportunity to dine on Beijing duck in Beijing we leapt at the chance. Thankfully, we were rewarded with a...fantastic meal and atmosphere. We had not booked, as it was a Wednesday night and feel that the 15 minute wait was inconsequential compared to the great location in the restaurant in which we were seated, next to a gold fish filled pond. We chose the suckling duck which was suitable for consumption by 2 people. The duck itself was exquisite in terms of taste, presentation, and accoutrements with which to eat the duck. 500 yuan for the duck meal, fruit dessert and a couple of alcoholic drinks each seemed a bargain for such a meal. Duck skin is not oily as advertised, but they cut too thinly. I needed to wrap at least 2 pieces each time to feel satisfied. Duck meat was dry. Try 1416 at China World Mall, it’s better

Recommending our local guide in Beijing, we went out in the evening to De Dong Restaurant which is within walking distance of the hotel where we are staying. The restaurant design is spectacular in its beauty, the staff professional and the food was excellent. We...ate the Peking Duck, the most delicious we tasted in China, fish dishes, salads and soups. Went to this restaurant with high expectations and was not let down. The duck was excellent. The meat was supple and juicy. The skin was crispy. The service provided by the staff first rate. And the prices were reasonable. Highly Recommended.
