I am writing this post to thank Banyan Tree Bangkok for helping me pull off a dream marriage proposal. The team in-charge was excellent and showed what the epitome of great service looks like. My fiancée and I enjoyed our special stay and it will be a memorable experience for the rest of our lives.
Just to recap my experience, first we were upgraded to presidential suite, which is breathtakingly beautiful. During the day, we experienced the Royal Banyan spa which was one of the best massages we have ever had. In the evening, we had an amazing dinner at Vertigo’s Neptune Deck with stunning views of Bangkok where the food was delicious and the service world-class. I loved the steak and foie grass while my girlfriend loved the scallops. Not to mention the amazing gin-based cocktails from Moon Bar and the complimentary bottle of champagne from the restaurant. Lastly, during the proposal time, the Banyan Tree Bangkok team decorated the room beautifully with balloons, flowers, candles and a TV screen to play a video which I had prepared for my girlfriend. They even helped arrange a professional photographer to capture the special moments and prepared a special decoration in the bedroom and bath. Overall, Banyan Tree Bangkok surpassed my expectations by miles.
I would also like to mention that all of the arrangements occurred at a very reasonable price point. Unlike many luxury hotels, I felt at no point that I was being overcharged just because of the brand. While Banyan Tree Bangkok is not cheap, but its reasonable for the high quality of experience offered by the hotel and its staff.
I would like to thank the following individuals from the Banyan Tree Bangkok team:
1. Jacky, the director of food & beverage and my key point of contact. He made sure that everything went perfectly. While his role is not a typical client facing role, he executed it flawlessly to the delight of his client (me)
2. I would also like to thank Todd, Jacky’s colleague who played a key role in executing the event and liaised with me when needed
3. Golffy, the manager at Concierge who was my first point of contact at Banyan Tree Bangkok who gave me ideas on how to plan the proposal. I had contacted 3 luxury hotels in Bangkok and he was the most impressive in his creativity and speed
4. Pavit and Boom, who served us at Vertigo. Truly bespoke service, giving us privacy while also being present enough to make the experience memorable
5. Prasert, who led the decorations of the presidential suite. It was beautiful and surpassed my expectations
6. Lastly, Khammai and Jirapa, who did the housekeeping and ensured we felt at home at our suite.
I am sharing some photos for the benefit of those reading this post. I would recommend Banyan Tree Bangkok, especially if you are planning a special occasion and need a great team to help you!

Vertigo offers a relaxed, romantic dining experience overlooking Bangkok from the top of the Banyan Tree Hotel. One word of warning, once you get out of the elevator there are several flights of steep stairs to get to the restaurant and if they are hard on knees going up, they feel really steep on the way down.
We had an excellent meal. The service started a bit slowly, but once it got into gear it was pretty good and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout the meal. It was a nice touch to get a souvenir photo from the house photographer to remember the occasion.
This was the first restaurant that took our temperatures before we were allowed into the lift. A good precaution against coronavirus and the only place it happened to us whilst in Bangkok. Full marks to Banyan Tree!
Overall, we really liked this restaurant. The food well presented and offers good portions and is within 10% of Sircocco's prices, but the wine list is substantially cheaper offering really good value (for Bangkok!). On a special occasion, I reckon about half the cost of Sirocco for a decent bottle of white or red.
If I only had one night in Bangkok (as the song goes) this would be my stunning restaurant choice.

This very special venue reminds me of the Los Angeles Music Centre’s Lord Andrew Webber and Tim Rice presentation of Evita. The music so powerful, so strong, full of all our human emotions which are equally captivated in Vertigo. It’s unique roof top location with truly stunning views of the simmering lights of Bangkok, to the eclectic taste of the dishes, together with our lovely hosts. Khun Saw made my visit ever so special along with the skills of our Chefs under the leadership of Executive Chef Andy. For the record I had the best ever steak in the world. The Kobe Striploin was awesome befitting the song “High Flying Adored”. Like in Argentina Evita will be remembered for eternity so too will be Vertigo.

Came here to celebrate my birthday. I was first amazed my the incredible views... then it started. I was sat and no one came to have me check out the menu (it’s mobile now), offered me water, paid me any attention for the first 15 min of me sitting there. Finally someone came, I ordered and waited almost 2 hours for my soup. I had plans already so I asked them to hurry it up as I still needed my main course and dessert.
Now the food... bland and dry. The soup has no flavor. The sea bass has no flavor and was incredibly dry. Overall it was such bleh food and terrible service for the amount I was paying??? Unacceptable. I will never be going here again nor will I recommend to anyone. Stay far away!

The view was nice but completely overshadowed by the highly overpriced and distinctly average food offering (we didn't have anything to drink as I wasn't prepared to pay their prices).
I had a caprese salad which was completely tasteless (so I only ate half) which was the equivalent of approx. €30. My partner had a chicken dish which had about 3 bits worth of meat and very little else for the equivalent of €60....weve eaten n some amazing places all over the world and never experienced this kind of over pricing.
Perhaps head here for a drink for the view, but I would not recommend eating and honestly you can get the view elsewhere for a reasonable price!

We chose the 4 course pre set dinner with wine. The food was ordinary at best and the wine was wine we could buy back home for less than $10 USD. The view and service was very good. We spent almost $500 for dinner for 2. It was the most overpriced dinner we've experienced anywhere in the world by far.

We only visited the Moon Bar-we didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment about that.
The view is excellent but the experience was somewhat ruined by poor service. At around £15 per drink, this place isn’t cheap and there was one bartender to serve all guests on the evening we were there. Staff aren’t really friendly, and I would expect at least efficient service (if not friendly) from a quality hotel such as this. It appears that they recognise that the place will be busy for the view in any case, so don’t need to be too concerned about anything else.

We had dinner at vertigo. The view is nice, but I expected better food given its price. We had a Tomahawk steak for two, and a salad, sparking water and two cocktails, we ended up paying US$400. Our waiter called Ming is really nice. They also have a dress code for guests, shorts, sandals, slippers are not allowed

We had our wedding party on the 31st Oct 2008 at the Vertigo, we loved the food and overall view!
Today 31st Oct 2020 we returned back after 12 years!
Food and service was average! I ordered the 3course menu with some wine served by glass. The crispy duck salad was horrible, the bread was amazing! The beef tenderloin was ok, Medium quality / slightly though! The dessert was recommended from the service associate, pina colada, it was nothing special!
I ordered few glasses of Montepulciano d’abruzzo, the first glass was served to warm above 20 degree+, the second glass after talking to the waiter was perfectly served with 15degree.
When my started came, I had to ask for cutlery! Bread service was not done, I had to ask when my appetizer got served!
My wife had serious allergies; well done! The Service associate handled it very well! Thanks a lot for taking care for my wife’s meals! Outstanding!!! Thanks to the chef!
Price wise we paid THB6500 for 2 person. For such an unique place - expected!
I strongly believe such an unique place needs to be perfect! Needs to have a sommelier who takes care after the wine. A waiter who takes care after the bread! On the way AGAIN! The Bread was amazing!!!
Service staff needs to be trained! The Food and beverage director has to be on top of his associates to train them to perfection!
It’s sad to see it’s missing! Would I go back ? For the location YES, for the food and service NO!

We booked the Vertico restaurant approximately a month before our visit and paid for a 4 course fixed menu. Unfortunately it rained the evening of our visit so we were unable to dine at the rooftop bar. Although the hotel can't be responsible for the weather the option 2 move or cancel free of charge should be an option. They had our contact details and could have informed us before our reservation. We ate in the restaurant it was like a scene from a comedy show, alot of staff stood round not really doing a lot. Food left on the side before being served. One customer waited 5 mins for them to serve her burger ... and then she had to ask for it. Good and attentive serving water but not great supplying or serving any other beverage.

Had a great night here with friends. The soft shell crab entree was really good. The seafood linguine with chorizo was perfect. Fun environment with good service. It’s not cheap for Bangkok prices but still worth it for the whole package.
My friend ordered the fish and he said it was overdone and didn’t eat it. Do ask for that a little less cooked if you want that.

Unfortunately the weather was so bad Vertigo was closed so we were seated downstairs, which obviously isn't the fault of the restaurant. However, it was our last night in Bangkok so we were looking forward to a memorable night. Unfortunately, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. We were seated quickly but the service went downhill from there, non existence service would be more appropriate. It took 40 mins to get a drink and then a further 30 mins to actually order our food. The amuse-bouche turned up before we ordered any food and then a sorbet was served I think to just fill the time. 2 hours after arriving our main courses turned up. We were never offered another drink or wine and despite asking several members of staff for more drinks, we were ignored for most of the night. It was a disappointingly expensive night for poor food and even worse service. I am sorry to report this as we had high hopes.

The view was everything!! Gorgeous setting, 100% perfect place for a special occasion which made it memorable. I think that the set course menu with wine pairing is worth it. However, I think the portions could have been a little more generous. So much so, even my
waitress gave me extra wine because my dessert was incredibly small and ridiculous and really lacked taste (maybe my waitress saw my face of disbelief and realized it was skimped on). To be honest, I think the food here was average or below average in flavor and portion, I don’t recommend coming here for the food but the wine was delicious and service staff was very attentive, great service and friendly and I can’t stop talking about the views! Seeing the Chao Prayao river at sunset then the city lights, that’s what you’re paying for. The other thing we found almost unbearable was the heat. I think during sunset this restaurant could afford some fans because we had moments of stale air, no wind blowing. So keep that in mind when choosing your outfit and makeup/hair ladies. 4 stars for the service and views, skip the food, come for drinks.

We visiting Vertigo on the first night in Thailand. On arrival we were asked if it was a special occasion, we mentioned it was the start of our honeymoon and the staff were all very kind in congratulating us. We thought that was a very nice gesture. Following that, we were treated like absolute royalty! Roses, special cocktails and wonderful service. They also offer to take a photo of each table against the beautiful Bangkok skyline which makes for a wonderful memento to take away. The food and drink are very nice but it is the staff and the view which make this place spectacular. Of course it is more expensive than some of the lower roof bars and anything at street level but definitely worth it for a special occasion. My photos do it no justice!

What a great night out! We booked for the early seating (5pm), which meant we had daylight, sunset, AND lit-up-at-night views for the several hours we enjoyed relaxing at this venue on the 61st storey of the Banyan Tree Hotel.
Request a corner for the absolute best view.
Our server Jack could not have been more helpful or accommodating. We were treated with the utmost respect, were not in any way rushed to finish and leave ... and enjoyed a beautiful several courses (except for a sadly disappointing dessert). The Australian eye fillet was simply fantastic, cooked to perfection, and twice what would have been served in a comparable Australian restaurant.
Jack even took a great shot of us over the city.
It's not an inexpensive evening out, but it is really memorable for all good reasons.
