Best momos in Thamel

The best momos I had during my 1 month in Nepal. They seem to make them fresh to order, so expect a bit of a wait for them to come out. During my second visit, my 2 plates took about 15 minutes, which were ordered soon after the only other table at the time also ordered 2 plates. Momos are bite sized with a very nice thin skin and dense filling for their size. Highly recommend the fried chocolate momos as a dessert. The chili versions are also nice if you're wanting a saucier option - sweet, slightly tangy, and moderately spicy. Service was also friendly and the restaurant seems to be run by a couple.

Perfect momo dumplings!

Of all the many, many momos I have had over the last week in Nepal, the paneer dumplings I had here were probably the best. Freshly made and very affordable, they were utterly delicious. This restaurant is extremely basic but the WiFi works well and service is friendly so who cares?

Delicious food!

A hidden gem! Such delicious and authentic food cooked and served by a friendly couple. I had the vegetable momos which came with a tasty sauce, they were so good that I then ended up ordering a curry & rice too (also delicious!)

Pretty good food, poor hygiene

The momos were very yummy so we ordered a second round but unfortunately the chef coughed all over them. Unsure whether the pretty good food is outweighed by the lack of hygiene. The restaurant was also dead when we visited and there was no music - huge lack of vibes

Tastiest Momos we had..

We had to try the Momo‘s here and were delighted! Small kitchen, freshly prepared food and a variety on the menu for more than a fair price. We came back for more and also tried the Samosas, which were also incredibly tasty.

Amazing find

Do not miss this wonderful gem! Tucked away from the busy streets, just beyond a Pathway of fresh potted herbs (good sign), you’ll find delicious, fresh food prepared by the hospitable owners. Dining area is clean, simple, and best of all, peaceful. I got the Momo basket (sampler) and they were the best I ever had. The ginger tea was nice too - I was surprised how sweet it was but I found myself wanting more. I will be back!

Best momo

This place, run by husband and wife together, is good for fresh food, especially delicious. You have to go through a small street inside Thamel. Even if it takes time to make momo, it will make fresh so I highly recommend for momo.

Clean, friendly and delicious

I’m actually ashamed of myself for not writing a review after I ate here. I visited Kathmandu in April of 2019. I stayed in Thamel. I googled places to eat, and Newa was relatively close by. When I tell you after my first visit, I went the next three days in a row, I am not kidding. It is run by an older couple, and like most Nepali people, they were incredibly accommodating and friendly. Not to mention, their momos were truly the best I had in Nepal. I had a conversation with the woman who ran the place with her husband, and as I said I went several days in a row. I went on a trek for a few days, and when I went back to have their momos one last time before I left, she asked where I had been. I was humbled and grateful I had found this place. She asked me to write a review for them, and as I said I’m embarrassed it took me so long to do so! The momos were unreal, and the restaurant was very clean overall. Ate there multiple times and didn’t get sick once. Check it out!

Friendly owners. you can choose your choice of Momo from various options available there. we had chicken and mutton momo, both fresh and tasty. love ginger tea. shop is not difficult to find. will definitely go back again.

Rude Older Lady with Bad Attitude

Horribly rude older lady with excessive bad attitude. We usually order 2-3 things to make sure they taste good before ordering more since this is the first time we’ve come here, however, the rude lady gave a lot of bad attitude because we didn’t order enough. When served, my fork was filthy and had dried food on it!!! Asked her to change for new one and she looked at me strangely, asking, “you want new one?” As if it were so incredible that I would like to use a clean utensil to eat. Food was cold and super salty. Good thing we didn’t order much. We went to another place afterward, which had a more inviting welcoming vibe and food that tasted way better too!

Pretty good tasting momo, best prices, Nepal family cooking

Had the potato, veg, buff,mutton and chocolate momo all were pretty good. You get ~ 10 per plate, small but filling. It's a small place, very cosy. Offers a few variations in momo cooking style I.e. steam, fried, half steam & fried. Good price and can buy beer etc there.

Wonderful restaurant!

We had such a lovely lunch at Newa MoMo - it was our first day in Kathmandu and the restaurant staff made us feel right at home. We had spinach and cheese momo and vegetable momo too, alongside some milk masala teas. Everything was super tasty and homemade to order. Woukd highly recommend a visit!

Taste peaches like a local!

Is this a family-run restaurant?! It's tucked away in a secluded spot, and the interior has a local feel to it. The menu is extensive, but simple and easy to read, and best of all, the prices are reasonable. The peaches are delicious, and you'll want to try many different kinds. It's a restaurant you'll want to visit again and again.

After reading the good reviews, we decided to go. Very disappointed: environment more than minimalist, in fact null and dirty. Plastic plates. The momos were good, but the rest: a chicken curry served without rice and bathed in fat practically eatable, and the noodles cooked in old fat. The prices are the same as in good restaurant. Anyway, no luck for us.

Spinach and cheese momos rock! Highly recommend this place!

Food was delicious. Family were lovely and very hospitable. I would highly recommend the spinach and cheese momos (go the ‘K’ option where it is pan friend on the bottom but steamed on top). The fried chocolate and banana momos were also delicious! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a yummy momo experience!
