As others have said, this restaurant appears shut but push open the door with the Trip Advisor sign and walk in. Dining room empty when we arrived at 1315 but 9 others when we left at 1445. We both had minced meat (kofta) tajines, came...hot, well spiced and a good sauce. Cost 80dr each. Pleasant ambience, friendly owners and excellent value overall.More

Beautiful Moroccan decor , food is fresh and presented esthetically. I ordered a Moroccan salad and once I learned that his mom is the one who is doing the cooking I ordered the kafta, and revived mini meatballs cooked in a delicious sauce. I asked...for some cuscus on the side instead of the bread it is usually served with. Highly recommendMore

Although you need to look for it and knock on the door (it seems closed)it is worth it. The food is nice and tasty, with an offered tea at the beginning. Home made food cooked at the moment (don’t go if you are in a...rush).More

What a hidden gem! They look closed, but just push open the door with the TripAdvisor sticker on it, and enter a cool, nicely decorated space, with the wonderful aroma of fresh bread wafting thru the air. Very gracious host, his wife or mom cooks,...and it’s all very good! Definitely recommend this restaurant!More

When we needed a late dinner, we noticed Restaurant Ya Hala was open and went there. However, I was disappointed with how long it took for my partner's tajine to be prepared. Must have taken over 45 minutes which was a lot longer than we...had to wait for meals elsewhere in Morocco.More

Best tajin (veal with plums and almonds) we have tried in Morocco so far. Very friendly staff, pleasant place. We have also ordered pastilla, also tasty and sweet but for us it would be even better with a little more salt in chicken stuff. It...is not so easy to find the place but the Tripadvisor sticker on the door helps a lot. Just push them and get in :)More

Great food! Don't be scared if you find the door closed just knock! If you are looking for a formal setting don't even bother, however if you want to deep dive into traditional Moroccan food this is definetly the place. Prepare to wait a bit...for the food, but trust me, it's worth it. Cous cous was insanely good!More

We stopped into Ya Hala for lunch while in Meknes without calling ahead or having a reservation. We thought it was closed at first since the door was closed, but followed a local lady in and were greeted by a very friendly man, one of...the owners of this restaurant, with his mother being the chef and cooking out of the kitchen of their home upstairs. He gave us mint tea while we waited for our food. It did take a while to get our food, maybe about 45 minutes, because it was being prepared to order for us and we ordered quite a lot of food, but we were so delighted when it came because everything was INCREDIBLY delicious, including the aubergine salad, the green peppers salad, the freshly squeezed orange juice, the couscous with chicken and vegetables, the pastilla, the chicken with lemon and olives tagine, and kefte. We've been in Morocco now for about a week and still think this was the best meal we've had in the country so far - and we've been a fan of all the food here, so this is high praise!More

We had the Moroccan salad and two Tajin dishes that were amazing. The cook is the owners mother. Real Moroccan home cooking at its best

Nice place, but I can't say the same for the food, we were waiting for 1 hour and the food was raw and no taste, I said to the waitress and he told me all was good.... A deception

This restaurant is a really special place... After knocking at the door you get welcomed into the most beautiful room full of intricate moroccan furniture and artwork. The son of the family who run the restaurant served us and treated us with incredible kindness and...hospitality. We were brought fresh mint tea to enjoy while we waited for our meal and when the food arrived we were lost for words at how good it was! You can hear the mother of the family cooking it fresh while you wait, and every dish was perfect and delicious and tasted like it was made with real love and care. We especially loved the bread and the aubergine and tomato dish (zakook)! We were also kindly brought the most delicious Sesame desert (zamita) which was a gift from the restaurant. We are so grateful for this experience during our visit to beautiful meknes, thank you restaurant ya hala!More

The place was closed when we arrived. We called and they said they will open. We were the only guests, and they started the kitchen especially for us. The food was average, rather bland, and the prices were also average, Maybe when business will start...picking up again, they will shine. Currently, not really recommended.More
