Am from out of town and tried this placed based on TripAdvisor's reviews. I was disappointed with the food, which was so highly rated. Ordered Vegetarian burger and string fries. My partner got the fried calamari. It was in strips vs. circles. Have had calamari...many times and never in strips. The service, atmosphere, and friendliness was great! The desserts looked good, but didn't have any. I am giving a 3 star rating based on the mediocre food. I will try another restaurant when back in this town.More

Highlight of our trip. After a long drive, then extensive hiking at Great Sand Dunes, we checked into our disappointing motel. We saw that this restaurant was just 2 blocks away, We were seated almost immediately, (Melissa was our waitress) got our drinks and ordered...an appetizer of Deep-Fried Mushrooms. When they were brought to the table, I was stunned by the size of them, somewhere between golf and tennis ball size! We could barely finish them before our entrees were brought out. My Iron Mike burger was humongous and the sweet potato fries were just right (could have used some marshmallow dip but not complaining). My wife ordered the Chile Rellenos with both green and red chile sauce, and said they were almost the best she's ever had. My daughter ordered the vegan Refrito and Guacamole Tacos and enjoyed them. Too full to order dessert, I was the only one to get a slice of cheesecake to go. I was torn between the Black Cherry and Reese's, so I selected a piece of the Nutter Butter cheesecake. Excellent choice on my part. Later that evening, I ate a piece of the creamiest and most delicious cheesecake I've ever eaten, It would be worth going to the Slipper for JUST this slice of heaven.More

“Enjoyed great appetizers and delicious burgers here! Liz was our server and she was terrific. Friendly and incredibly efficient staff. Strawberry margarita hit the spot after being on the road all day. Sweet potato fries were delicious. More appetizers and menu offerings than you might...expect and all freshly made and hand prepared.More

The table side salad is great. You get real mixed greens (not just iceberg or romaine) and then you pick from things like mushrooms, radishes, cucumbers, bacon, onions, tomatoes, etc. It was great to customize my salad. My son loved his taco from the kids...menu. The service was fast and friendly.More

Tried to do call ahead seating. After several minutes on hold, the manager gets on and says they “don’t have room for us “. We advised her we’d be willing to split up (we were a party of 13). To which she replies, “no we...don’t have room. All of our call ahead is booked.” Period. Her tone of voice was rude and made it obvious she didn’t want our business. There was no attempt to maybe find another time or ask us to try again tomorrow. No apology. Just a “nope”.More

Was excited about eating here after reading other reviews and the lack of open restaurants in Alamosa for dinner. Didn’t even make it in the door. Hostess would not seat us, even though we only had three people in the party. Said they were too...busy. Bar seating was empty except one man. Asked to sit at the bar — refused again. Took our money and dropped down a nice chunk of change at a different restaurant.More

We hadn't eaten at Rubi Slipper since before covid hit, but had friends from out-of-state who were visiting, so we decided to dine there because of the extensive menu. Literally, there is something for everyone at this restaurant. It didn't disappoint. Our friends loved it....We had to wait a while for a table, but they allowed us to order drinks and sit outside on a couple of benches with them while waiting on our table. One of our friends had pork tacos and the other had shrimp tacos. They were both very pleased with their choices. My husband had the State Street slopper and I had the smothered chimichanga. We were also pleased with our choices. The 4 of us split a huge slice of raspberry cheesecake that had a dark chocolate crust and real whipped cream on top. It was VERY good...all of their desserts are made in-house. You really can't go wrong eating at Rubi Slipper.More

On a road trip we had lunch here. Tons of parking on the street & a lot next to the bar & grill. The turkey toll was delicious, the cole slaw as a side was terrible. The Rubi Club was delicious as were the home...made potato chips, they only need a bit more salt. The coffee was TERRIBLE. Dirty water with no taste.More

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. It was not too crowded, we were seated right away. The staff were very friendly, they have a huge menu, and the prices were very reasonable. They are on a one-way street, but there is ample parking...just before the restaurant.More

Good question--wish I knew. I have the same kind of worries about onions and garlic, and sure enough, there is often cross-contamination. Good luck, John
