Went with a large group who had the buffet. I ordered from menu, which I was told they can make anything gluten free. Ordered pork tacos and was told they would come with sour cream and guacamole. Another couple with our party also ordered off...the menu. Their food was delivered before mine. After waiting for my order, my husband asked where my meal is. They brought me only 2 steak tacos (not 3, not pork), with no beans, guacamole and sour cream. Very disappointed!More

It started off poorly. Server spilled water in a heavy glass all over my two children, they were soaked! We gave grace and tried to keep a smile on our face but the service continued to go down hill. Unfortunately there was no attempt get...it back on track. Other customers who arrived after us had their meal and bill before we were served our food. It took ages. Well over 90 mins. Our drinks were weak and then we ordered beer and it sat at the bar for ages, then delivered to the wrong tables and finally arrived to us. Our server disappeared and we had to flag down others for service. I was told she was helping in the back. Bless her- they are clearly understaffed or not training the staff they do have. Food was ok, nothing special. Service alone would have changed our experience for the better. Skip it.More

We chose Calvillo's because it was near our hotel and was still open for our late arrival. After we figured out the one way street that begins right in front of the restaurant, there was plenty of off street parking. Inside there is a helpful...lighted wall menu, for hands off selection, especially good if you are waiting in line. We were seated quickly as we were the last diners of the evening. We enjoyed our dinners, chili rellenos and a cheeseburger. There is a full bar, but we decided to not drink. The restrooms are clean. If I'd had more time, I'd have looked around the cute gift shop, but it was time to leave.More

Service was excellent at this family owned business. Food had nice flavor. Margaritas are great and inexpensive. Patio is pet friendly.

We waited three days to eat at Calvillo’s as we arrived in Alamosa too late our first night and they were closed on Memorial Day and Tuesday. It was worth the wait! Three of us had the El Calvillo Burrito - wow! Like the “meat...lover’s burrito.” Outstanding and loaded with the goods! The steak fajitas were also excellent as was the Tacos Americanos for the youngest gringo in our clan. Even the iced tea was good! Our server was Itzel and she was sweet, attentive and professional.More

Wanted true Mexican food and thought this would be a good place to get it. Cute inside and servers were friendly. I ordered the sangria and the owner (?) came over and asked how it was. It was good, but strong! We ordered the combo...plate, but it just wasn't that great. I'm sure the food there is good, it's just what we ordered that didn't appeal. We also ordered the milk cake for dessert. It wasn't bad.More

Excellent food. If there is just two of you go sit at the bar to eat. Gonzalez is hopefully your bartender. Order the Ultimate margarita, you will not be disappointed. No mixes are used in it and I could drink them all night. Gonzalez is...a character! Had a blast. The food is excellent, chips are excellent. A place to go in Alamosa.More

We were passing through Alamosa and saw the great reviews for Calvillo’s. The reviews are correct, because the food was wonderful. Even their house margaritas were great, because they don’t use a mix. The service was outstanding from the bartender to the server who took...care of our table. Do not miss this restaurant if you want awesome Mexican food. They made these 4 Tennesseans feel right at home. Also, don’t miss their house-made guacamole!More

I found this place while driving thru town to Denver. The place was totally empty which is usually a bad sign but it ended up being probably the best mex food I have had. I got a cerviche tostada dish that was amazing and my...wife had carnitas that were quite good as well. The service was very good and the prices were in line. Definitely give it a try.More

Very disappointed in the take out food that we received. They served very small portions, yet charged a huge price. Tamales were dry, undesirable, and tacos were fair. Chicken burrito had bones in it. We won't order from there again. What a horrible experience.

I do not think they do wine by the bottle. We didn't see anyone doing bottles. They do have a full bar but it's actually limited to what they know how to make...DON"Tget the Sangria
