About
Inspired by the flavors of forgotten and forbidden lands, ancient east-west trade routes and cooking techniques, we're excited to reframe Old World stories and methods for a new, hungry, and inquisitive audience. For us, a maydan is the genesis of human connection. It's an Arabic word but is used throughout the Old World, from India to northern Africa.

Be prepared to fall in love- everything about this place will make you want to come back again and again so you can try every last cocktail and menu item. I've managed to get in several times (be flexible and don't give up-it's worth it)....Maydan translates to "a gather place" and it is definitely a place to go with friends or family. If you like to cook, try to get a table near the open fire kitchen. Looking forward to returning when Covid travel restrictions are lifted.More

As others have written, the terrific food we carried out was complemented by the terrific service and personal follow-up we received from everyone at Maydan, especially Molly! Brava, team!

Given our extra sensitivity to Covid protocols we ordered take out. Our special request was to order the food with the ability to take it home and grill the meats ourselves. Molly was extremely accommodating and pulled together a wonderful feast. Adjika rubbed ribeye kebab...with chermoula, sumac and turmeric chicken leg quarters, corn on the cobb with cinnamon and aleppo pepper labneh, seasonal fattoush, melon and shanklish, cacik, hummus, toum and bread. Grill instructions for the ribeye, chicken and corn were included. All flavors were world class. The spreads were absolutely the best we ever tasted.More

I am sure it is quite difficult to navigate a restaurant business in the middle of the pandemic, my heart goes out to them. Having said that, is was unremarkable and therefore overpriced. would not recommend. All the lamb dishes were lacking flavor, dessert was...an afterthought.More

A daughter arranged a takeout meal for us from Maydan. We like middle eastern cuisine, cook some ourselves (Thank you, Claudia Roden), so while we didn't know this restaurant, dinner seemed a safe bet. We certainly thought we knew what to expect. Not really! We...had several lamb and vegetable and lamb dishes, and a number of spreads and dips. I wasn't familiar with any of them. The meat just fell off of a leg of lamb, another dish was infused with wonderful seasonings not known to me. A mint sauce was exquisite, a goat's milk yogurt sauce was just perfect with the lamb as well. Eggplant and roasted cauliflower as I have not had them, and terrific. I began thinking that we were eating some kind of "fusion" food, something borrowed from but not really much like true middle eastern dishes. Not that the possibility detracted from our pleasure, but it was a theory. No, our son, fluent in Arabic and who lived and studied in Lebanon, Oman and Jordon was with us, and reported that the dishes we were enjoying were the same as, or much like, food with which he was familiar. So, it's interesting that as many middle eastern restaurants as we have visited, the food from Maydan was different, I would say adventuresome, and wonderful. Also, have to say at this time of Covid-19, it traveled home very well. And from looking around as we picked up the food, I'd say this restaurant is as thoughtfully and carefully set up for serving at this time as any I've looked at.More

The vibrant atmosphere and friendly service are the first things you experience, but the amazing food is what really makes this such a gem. We sat at the bar, and Hunter guided us through the menu, and everythign we tried was just spectacular!

Great all around experience. Service was a friendly and attentive. Food was very good and the interesting selection was a real treat. It should be on the top 10 list for anyone who wants to try something different. As has been said it is a...bit difficult to find but that is part of the experience.More

I loved the mystery of finding the restaurant. Once inside you are warmly greeted and then escorted through the downstairs which felt like you were in an open market somewhere exotic. Rose, the owner seated us. She is such a lovely woman and took a...few moments to ask us where we were from, etc. The service is top notch. The freshly bake Tone' bread is brought to your table warm and often. We never felt pressured to order more and our server just knew the right rythm for the meal. The food itself is so fresh, fragrant and delicious. It is such a great opportunity to try many different things-be adventurous because the prices won't break your piggy bank-very reasonable. Pay attention to the decor. So many details went into this space. The night was pleasing on so many levels. Cannot wait to go back again. Thank you to Rose and her staff. I wish them many years of success.More

As others mentioned, Maydan is just a bit tricky to find. Once inside we loved the decor and bustling atmosphere and we were dazzled by the sight of fresh flatbread baking in flaming clay ovens near the entrance. We were the fortunate guests at this...dining experience - the friendly servers seemed to bring an endless array of delicious spreads and dips to accompany the many poultry, meat and vegetable dishes. I believe it was from a fixed menu offering. My personal favorite? The hot, delicious bread!More

Hearing and reading the rave reviews of this restaurant, I had to visit. It was a incredible meal and not disappointed. Hard to find because it is down an alley. You will really need reservations (and they are hard to get because it is so...popular) or otherwise you probably won't be able to get served at a table. You could stop in for a drink at the bar but the bar area isn't very big.More
