Amazing food, amazing views!

My friend and I had a perfect meal here. The restaurant itself is situated in the castle, the views from the castle of lake bled are exceptional. The service in the restaurant is outstanding, the waiter even paired wines for us with the meal. The food was very impressive and I think actually the price is very reasonable, we had 3 courses for €80 with wine. Not a bad word to say about the place. Would definitely visit again. Thanks!

The most magical evening

The absolute highlight of our trip. First, we were allowed entry to the castle after visiting hours due to our reservation, meaning we could enjoy the view in perfect peace. Then we were able to bring our drinks out into the courtyard too. What a privilege! We had a table right in the window overlooking the lake. Wow! Our waiter couldn't have been more helpful, polite, and attentive. He also spoke excellent English! The food was of course delicious (we had the tasting menu). I'm a pescetarian so was nervous about food options but they were able to make adjustments for me and I loved it all (garlic soup was maybe my favourite). My highlight was probably being allowed to open our bottle of fizz with a sword. So much fun! Not cheap, but an unforgettable evening worth every penny. Thank you so much!

Enjoyable Lunch

Fantastic lunch at this restaurant. The room is lovely, the view gorgeous even on a rainy day. This restaurant would be highly rated as a stand alone dining experience even without the tourist attraction of being located in a castle. Damian looked after us very well, explaining the local inspired dishes and ingredients and pairing Slovenian wine to each course beautifully. We would look forward to returning to Lake Bled simply to dine here again.

Terrible/ignorant behaviour of the staff in the restaurant

On Sunday 29th of December, my partner and I visited Bled castle with the intention to have a lunch at the Castle restaurant. We paid 22€ for entering the castle entrance, just because we really wanted to have a lunch at castle’s restaurant. No problem. Then we checked the restaurant, half of tables were free (at 3.00 pm). We were happy we can get a table in the restaurant. There was an arrogant young waiter at the cashier desk (unfortunately I didn’t see the badge with his name, but he was wearing the glasses), who said it’s impossible to get a table because they have to clean some free tables and if we want to get a table we can go around the castle or lake and come back after half an hour not before?!? I told him we came up to the castle just because of lunch and asked if we could wait at one of the tables, no problem if they have to clean the tables first. He didn’t even listen to me, he repeated, it’s not possible and that was the end of conversation. I noticed also other tourists were leaving the restaurant, I assumed because of the same reason! I’m disapointed, first we paid 22€ to enter the castle just to visit the restaurant and then not to have lunch at the (half empty) restaurant because of the arrogant staff who didn’t know how to behave in front of the tourist, or potential customer. It’s a big shame for the owner of the restaurant (is it Jezersek?) to have such employees and it’s a shame for Slovenian tourism. Maybe another tenant of the restaurant could do a better job and tourists could get a better impression of Slovenian hospitality! I remember few years ago, there was Srednja gostinska sola, taking care of the restaurant, with the nice staff and very delicious menus. I miss it.

It was 3:30pm when we finished our visit of the Bled Castle and wanted to sit, have a drink and a snack and enjoy the view. Waiter rushed from the inside of the restaurant to say that lunch is over, and that we cannot get anything, becuse he has to set up outside tables for dinner. In total, there were no more than 6 tables. We asked for drinks, if kitchen is closed. Waiter repeated that absolutely nothing is available, and that they are fully booked for the dinner, probably assuming that we intended to wait there until the evening. We felt as if we should say: "Sorry, your majesties, for bothering you". So, for the entry ticket of 13€ per adult, one can have about one hour visit if one listens to every recording and studies thorougly each item, something at a beach-style caffee at the lower terrace, but cannot spend some more money sitting on a chair in a so-called restaurant. This is by far and wide most unusual and unfriendly customer approach at this part of the world.

Disappointing lunch experience

Had high hopes for lunch at Bled Castle restaurant..,it failed to meet any standards for food or service. All three salads were bitter, seemed thrown together and lacked a balanced flavor. Disappointing and will not be dining there again. One server (not ours) seemed attentive, informing other tables of specials and menu items. Our server seemed like he couldn’t be bothered despite only three tables of guests. Only gave a poor because of the amazing views.

Tasty food with a gorgeous view of lake Bled.

We ate the main course and the dessert. The food was good and the waiter was nice, he asked if we were content a lot. We drank water and pear juice, which was very tasty. The view was gorgeous, you don’t have to dress up if you are seating outside, it is also nice to not have to pay the entrance fee to the castle if you have a reservation. The chocolate fonadant was one of the best I ever had and I ate it in many good restaurants before. The Istrian fuži with truffles were delicious but also very feeling so I personally recommend to just eat the main course and the dessert unless you are very hungry.

Gorgeous view with beautifully prepared food

Initially, I almost walked out of the restaurant because I didn’t feel welcomed. It might possibly be that I was underdressed or that I looked a little lost. But I am glad I stayed. I didn’t have reservations and it was fine because there were ample tables. But I highly recommend people to MAKE RESERVATIONS especially during peak season and because you get to go into the castle for free instead of paying the entrance fee. I was fortunate to be there during Restaurant Week. The price wasn’t listed for the 2 set menus that were offered (meat or fish) and I figured YOLO. I ordered the fish set menu and wine pairing. I would have to say that if what I had were authentic Slovenian food, the dishes were the most memorable compared to the ones I had in Piran and Ljubljana. The different types of wine were explained to me and came out in order of the dish that paired well with it. The server who I thought was not welcoming turned out to be both attentive and knowledgeable. When I was ready to pay what I thought might be about 100 euros, I was utterly shocked. Grand total for set menu plus optional wine pairing (3 glasses): ~39 euro. The next time I am in Bled I will make sure to go there again with reservations.

Exquisite dining

If you're into enjoying dishes made of fresh local ingredients, this is the restaurant for you. Whilst enjoying the view of Bled Lake, they pamper you with tastes, not embelished by spices and herbs. The food is delicious because of its freshness and the combinations on your plate are well executed. I my opinion, there's great value for money ratio, so you won't have to spend fortune to have a Michelin star experience. As for covid-19: waiters wear masks. All guests were seated outdoors. When we got cold, they'd bring us soft, warm blankets.

Went in for a casual lunch that turned out to be the best dining experience we had in Bled

We were so surprised by this restaurant. After seeing the sights and really enjoying the museum at the castle, we realized we could probably better have a late lunch and a light late dinner. So we went to this restaurant thinking it would just be a nice extension of the castle experience. What we had was one of the best meals we had so far in Slovenia - someone in the kitchen clearly knows what he/she is doing - plus exquisite and attentive service. Highly recommended!

I was travelling solo this time so I appreciated that the staff were good humoured and friendly, providing full explanations of the courses and wines and making interesting recommendations. The waiter Jan Repanšek Spruk was particularly helpful. Good bloke. Overall a very good experience, just a shame they don’t serve the dinner outside after 6.30pm once the summer is over.

From the welcoming glass of champagne through dessert, we were treated to a fantastic evening from beginning to end! Damien provided excellent service, walking us through each course and providing additional information about Bled and the surrounding area. The terrace provided us with a breath taking view of the lake below...just overall a fabulous evening.

Family celebrations ruined by poor service

The food was good but the service was awful for us. It was not so bad for others around us but that didn’t make it any better from our perspective. I think our server was particularly bad. The setting is also lovely, sitting outside overlooking the lake in the shade of a large canopy. So to explain the service…. We pre booked our table and we’re advised that 1pm was possible but 12:30, which I requested, was not. That was fine but the. On arrival at 1pm there was no table for 5 set up, one was made for us but the 5th place setting was not complete (no glass, serviette or the full cutlery). We were seated without menus whilst several other tables were seated with menus and ordered their drinks. After asking we were given menus and then left whilst tables after us were served their first courses, eventually we ordered and the food was very tasty. (If you are wondering the ‘hot goat’ with the veal is goats cheese wrapped in bacon). We had starters and intended to have desert but as it took over an hour for us to receive our main courses we decided to go for ice cream instead. The bill for 2 bottles of water (no filtered water carafes available although in the menu and apparently served to others), 1 litre of pear juice, 3 glasses of wine, 5 starters & 5 mains (not the most expensive for any) was €246. If you want to eat here I hope you get the lovely server who was tending other tables. Buy wine by the bottle (it is free poured and we had less than charged for - up to the 100ml line on the glass and charged for 150ml). And be prepared to wait and to demand to be served if you are not getting the service you expect. What a shame to ruin nice food and turn our family celebrations into a grumble.

Excellent courses and nice discovery of local wines

We had dinner at Bled Castle Restaurant in August 2021. We enjoyed the 4 course menu with well paired Slovenian wines. Friendly staff knowledgeable on wines and good explanation on the different courses. We paid a correct 178 euro for two - 60 euro pp for 4 course menu and 58 euro for 5 wines pp. Definitely recommendable.

Always nice to come back

A very beautiful place that brings us back every time. Food is always presented with detail and the service is always on spot. You might have to spend a little bit more with respect to other places by the lake but I assure you it is worth it every single penny! Just make sure to book in advance cause many visiting the castle want to stop by for lunch and having limited seating it is unlikely to find a free table last minute. One thing that must be known (and maybe a suggestion for the staff to ask during reservation whether to sit inside or out) is that when seating outside the risk of bees/wasps flying around is very high and quite bothersome (I have fear of insects so it was making it worse) so this must be taken into consideration.
