I met up with some friends at this restaurant and I really didn't enjoy my time whilst there. The 3 friends had already been there for an hour when I arrived and finished their meals. The table got cleared away not long after I sat...More

The restaurant has become more up market but it still retains the lively atmosphere I remember from the old days of Yum Cha 35 years ago. We've been to Westlake intermittenly since then and have enjoyed seeing it evolve into something more sophisticated. There are...More

Avoid the lines at ShanDong Mama and Shanghai Village and go here. Aussies call dim sum “yum cha”. My guide on the free local walking tour gave me this tip in re Westlake. Great tip!! If there are no seats available on the first floor,...More

We eat here for a yum cha lunch quite often, and always enjoy the experience. There are usually mostly Asian diners, and some of the waiters speak limited English, but you know you are getting the authentic experience. The food is served from trolleys in...More

As a frequent customer I tolerated the cold customer service only because the Peking duck pancakes were awesome.... but not anymore. Obviously cooked well in advance to be baked in oven, not carve fresh no longer. Fried rice is so bland... my Chinese friends agreed,...More

We ordered honey chicken, I’m 99.99% sure it was not chicken!! It was a weird colour, and weird taste and I have eaten at many Asian restaurants and that is not how it should taste or look! Would not recommend at all!!

Have been to West Lakes several times and we love the variety & freshness of yum cha served. Need to have patience for the trolley to come your way and be selective as you can easily over indulge. If possible keep the fried selections to...More

We try and eat here whenever we are in Melbourne - the Yum Cha is fantastic. Huge selection of dishes. The vegetarian dumplings are delicious. Yum, yum yum cha!

Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place
to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place
simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude
a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration

Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes
such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your
money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving
