Loved the vibe and sitting in the lane way even in winter was really nice.
Got a nice deal where our first drink and entree were free. This was basically a $30 value. The food was ok but not spectacular. But the cost was reasonable...More
No words to describe apart from misleading and terrible. Roped in by the ‘smooth talking host’ with talks of ANY ‘house wine’ or any beers/soft drinks/juice off the menu plus one free entree with any one purchased. Upon making our selection of drinks we were...More
We've been to Hardware Lane many times and always browsed every place first before deciding but this time we got enticed by the smooth-talking host offering half-price starters and free drinks. The wine and beer were good but the starters' portion was so small no...More
We were enticed by the guy out front offering free coffee with every breakfast. Plus we were the only ones inside so I was very dubious with a friends choice of this place for brunch prior to a day of shopping.
However I was pleasantly...More
I recently visited Vons Restaurant in Hardware Lane just off Lonsdale Street in Melbourne's CBD and had a great experience.
We visited on a Sunday for Lunch.
The venue is a pleasant café style with Italian food and has indoor and outdoor eating areas.
The enticement of free wine, dips and cheap entrees should have been a warning. We ordered 1 entree and 3 mains and each dish was lacking flavour and was poor quality. Would not recommend this run down place.
We dined in several steak restaurants during our 1 week stay in Melbourne. The steaks in Vons were the worst of all. We just wondered where Vons purchased these low quality steaks. When we visited the Victoria Market, the steaks sold there were amazingly good...More
If I could give a 0 I would. Do not get fooled by the free drink and $7 entrees/desserts. Menu said steak came with mushroom sauce but came out with a different sauce. When questioned they bring out a drop of mushroom sauce saying that's...More
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
